My beautiful window display, which has had so many lovely comments, will be taken down tomorrow. Thought I'd try and get a video of the main display.
It was Britain in Blooms 60th year, therefore silver anniversary, with a theme of Celebrations and Friendship. Bearing all that in mind, I decided that if a wedding dress shop can't do Celebrations and Friendship then it's a poor show! So I decided to go big!
I used a silver sequin dress as the main dress, Alan from Cornwall Suit Room very kindly loaned me a silver suit with floral tie and pocket square and I had another silver beaded dress as a bridesmaid (dress has now sold so unable to show it). I bought a selection of plants/shrubs to go at the front of the window to go through the colours from red to purple, to pink, to pink and white and ending on white in the middle. For the skirt, I protected the dress with some tulle, wrapped some chicken wire around the mannequins waist, and then started to weave the Leylandi through the chicken wire. It took a bit of time building the skirt, but once that was done I was able to fix the main display of roses, carnations and Gypsophelia with a few carnations and Gypsophelia added randomly to the skirt. The beautiful peacock feathers were added as an afterthought, and I'm so glad they were as they finished the display beautifully ๐
Massive shout out and thank you to Alan (suit), Rob (Leylandi), and Lin (flowers) and, of course, Zoe, who helped choose the plants and carried everything in. Couldn't have done it without any of you โค๏ธ
The shop front will feel very strange without all the beautiful flowers ๐
