Oct 30th "A sentimental item you take to ceremonies"

Apart from my handbag, which is hugely sentimental to me (I never used handbags, but when I got my stoma I now need to take one everywhere so my lovely grandad bought it for me) nothing.

But I do take something from every ceremony.... Yes really!

It's normally a leaf or a piece of confetti, I have a drawer full of little teeny things from each ceremony 😁

Oct 29th "A memorable post ceremony celebration"

9/10 couples invite me to stay after the ceremony which is SO lovely. However, it's their day and as well as we have got to know each other, the post ceremony celebration is for those who are nearest and dearest.

I go home, raise a glass, and spam them with all my BTS pics 🀣

So I've only ever been to one post ceremony celebration where I was bridesmaid/celebrant.
And it was bloody awesome!

Oct 28th "Most inclusive"

Everyone was involved! Some weddings where we name check loved ones, or play games with reader / ring bearer winners involve some people, but a good ol' sing song can get everyone up on their feet joining in!

Islands in the Stream was particularly important for this couple, it represents the love song of the Brides parents, and sadly their funeral songs.

It was a song they wanted featured so to bring the mood up we all channeled our inner Ness and Bryn and sang.to the version.

It was really.good fun to have everyone young and old join in 🩷

Oct 27th "Your favourite time of day for a ceremony"

TBH I only ever have one booking a day, so I'm pretty fluid and work around couples. And different times bring different advantages...

πŸ•› An early wedding gives the couple a long day to celebrate and make the most of their wedding day
πŸ•‘A mid afternoon wedding gives the couple a bit more of a relaxed morning, and still a chunk of time in the afternoon
πŸ•”A late afternoon wedding gives a lovely chilled day beforehand and catches some cracking golden hour photos
πŸ•£An evening wedding is gorgeous, although if you don't start the celebrations til this moment you don't have too long - but this gives a real magical atmosphere (and is friendly on the budget!)

If you were going to push me on it, I'd say late afternoon is my fave

Oct 26th "a fun moment during a ceremony"

Sadly I don't have a photo of the moment, but this hat 🀠 helped a fun moment.

Y&M knew they wanted a lovely reading but also wanted the reader to be a surprise... So I was already armed with a bag of folded up paper with names on. As we started the ceremony they were placed in the hat and early on we picked one out of the hat.

It was fun as there was a moment of panicked laughter as people wondered if it would be them. And relief laughter when it wasn't.🀣

It also allowed us, early doors, to let the guests know this wasn't "just another wedding ceremony" and got them onboard to be part of the whole thing. 🩷

Oct 25th "My fave place to stand during a ceremony"

Well, I don't stand very still so this is a hard one to answer 🀣

At one point I WAS behind the bush! 😁

I'm pretty fluid for various reasons
1️⃣ To ensure the couple feel that I'm less formal, it relaxed them if I'm not rigid
2️⃣ To make sure I'm not in the lovely photographers "money shots" (boo!)
3️⃣ So I'm not the centre of attention
4️⃣ So couples can hear me as I whisper their ring vows to repeat

So, sorry if I make you dizzy, there's method behind my madness!

Little catch up cheat as busy busy!

22 "favourite memory from a vow writing session"... Believe it or not, personal vows are not that common place, so when they are, it's so awesome to be part of pulling them together, especially for couples that are so in tune!

23 "behind the scenes photos" ... Friends decorating a wedding cake, it was so cute, especially the care and attention they were giving to this very important job! (On a super hot day and the cake was at risk of melting!)

24 "something I do to calm couples" ... I let them know every single word I'm going to say before the wedding. I know some people prefer to pull it together and share on the day itself but I prefer couples to have hear every word I'll say as it helps to keep them calm on their day, no surprises during what is often the most nervy part!

Oct 21st "something personal you do for couples"

May sound odd, especially as most couples have a professional photographer, but I make a point of getting some behind the scenes photos.

By the time they're dancing the night away, I've gone home and sat there with a wee drink to toast them and sent all of the pics.

They'll have something to look at the very next morning and often I catch shots others can't. And it's great to share with the photographers who never get their picture taken πŸ“Έ

Oct 19th "A couples love story that's stuck with you"

Every single story is amazing, of course it is! I'm in the privileged position of witnessing couples relive their early days, hearing them regale stories of when they knew that they'd found the one.

There is a couple I'm currently working with whose story is really touching me. This is for various reasons. Resonance, empathy and understanding that they have found their person.

Their story is only just about to start to be written, and I honestly can't wait to pen this ceremony 🩷

Oct 17th "A fun light-hearted moment during the ceremony"

The gorgeous C&J have four as gorgeous little ones, and the plan was to get their fingerprints on the wedding certificate.

Well, you know what they say about kids... Expect the unexpected 😝

One was up for it, one was reserved, one refused and one was asleep.

But it didn't really matter because this small show of sweet chaos was a true representation of their family, and it made people chuckle fondly.

Just this small snippet of every day life meant that family and friends could enjoy a moment that broke formality and lightened the mood.

Oct 16th "Ceremony outfit style"

You'll always find a sneaky little bit of pink somewhere, on-brand peeps, on-brand! 🫢🏼

However, "what do you want me to wear?" is one of the questions I ask couples. Cos, you see it's their day not mine, and their vision. I need to fit in with their dream.

Oct 15th " A Ceremony Moment That Made You Smile"

I had 2 awesome Brides who both had the same name - so we decided to have some giggles, doing photo cue cards for whether we were talking about Bec or Becca. Their super lovely family and friends rolled with it and we had great fun 🩷

Despite my weird grimace in this photo it did make me smile πŸ˜‰

14th Oct "Your Go-to Ice Breaker with Couples"

By asking about their vision and vibe it helps me work out if I'm the right Celebrant for them, what they are looking for from their big day and starts conversation without having to touch on feelings until we get to know each other a bit better.

13th Oct "A beautiful ceremony set up"

I've seen so many different colours and vibes across all of the weddings - each stunning in their own right. From black tie cocktail vibes through to bare foot festi vibes.

These pics are from N&J's wedding at , and bearing in mind what they do for a living i just KNEW it would spare no detail. Their vision, supported by the venue and the most wonderful came to life and was absolutely divine.

Ask me for my vibe board document, and you can see all sorts of ideas to give you inspo!

12th October "Favourite wedding reading"
It is hard to have a favourite from the weddings I've had the pleasure of conducting, because I've never had the same reading twice! That is because it is my job to encourage couples to think of something "them" if they are having loved ones read, and step away from the "popular wedding reading" web searches!

Lyrics, excerpts, open letters or poems that reflect couples make the day so much more perfect.

Last October L&J and their entire wedding party came to Kent for their wedding from Scotland - and the touches that they put on their day were so beautiful! There was a reason they came down and that was reflected in their chosen reading - here is a small excerpt of a most beautiful day. πŸŽƒ

Bonus point if you can tell me which iconic show this is inspired by!

Vows should reflect YOU. Not what you think society expects of you, but *you*

Oct 10th "Something special you include in ceremonies"

Well this is technically for just before the ceremony. And during. And after!

A wedding is ALL about the couple right?!

Well ... ish ...

It's about their journey to their wedding day, about who they are as individuals as well as a couple. And that includes the family and friends that have shaped who they are.

So with various tricks up my sleeve I'm able to make every important person feel truly valued and when we mention them in the ceremony I make a point to look at them and smile.

It honestly gives everyone the feels on warm fuzzy days 🩷

Oct 9th "Favourite wedding song"

Couples choose a wedding song because of what it means to them. It's one of those wedding questions I ask at the first appointment because normally it takes a while to find the 'perfect' song.

My advice is to think outside the box ... Look at different styles of your favourite song, instrumentals or alternative genres if "your" song doesn't quite work with what you visualise for your day.

I've loved all songs (yup even the rap with the swearing!) but my favourite is when I knew that the Bride had recorded a version of Elvis Presley's "I can't help falling in love with you".

She knew, I knew, no one else did. It was the moment her groom twigged, as she was walking up this gorgeous aisle towards him that was oh! So magical 🩷

Oct 8th, "A quote that inspires my ceremonies"

β€œIn the end, we’ll all become stories.” from the legend that is Margaret Atwood, whose writing I've enjoyed since The Handmaid's Tale in A-level English, *cough* 30 years ago...

This quote is a great reminder for me that each ceremony I write is part of a couple’s lifelong love story, and I have the utter privilege of helping to shape how it’s told. 🩷

Oct 7th "Best Advice for Couples"
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from officiating countless weddings, it’s this: don’t expect perfection on your big day... The truth is, something will almost always go wrong – a zipper might break, the weather might throw you a curveball, or Aunt Linda might knock over a glass of wine (again). πŸ·πŸ™ˆ

But guess what? That’s what makes your day yours. The imperfect moments are often the most memorable and fun! Instead of stressing, embrace the β€œwhat will be, will be” vibes and just roll with it. The love, laughter, and real moments are what matter most. 🩷

Stay tuned for more chat on this topic soon! πŸŽ™οΈ

Oct 6th "A fun moment you've shared with a couple"

You see us laughing right?

Well... What you may not be able to see is at the pivotal ring exchange moment the heavens opened. And I mean OPENED πŸ’¦

However, N&R were just so happy on their wedding day that even when I quietly asked "what do you want to do, it'll pass but it's wet as?" they just chuckled and said carry on.

You see they're SO in love it didn't matter, so we had a bit of fun with it, took the mick out of some of the guests and just enjoyed the ceremony because it was THEIR ceremony!

Because we knew each other it was easy to manage what could have been a stressful situation, and we got each others vibe, I knew they'd carry on but it had to be their choice.

Oct 5th "favourite ritual"

I think they're all lovely, (except sand blending, sorry I know it's cute but it's a bloody mess when someone spills it 🀣).

The secret is to take the ritual and really link it to the couple.

Here, we blessed the elements for S&L in the middle of a gorgeous field.
With the blessing of each element, we linked it to a story about them. For example with water, we talked about the lakes and streams they bathed in when they travelled New Zealand.

Each one is so unique, even if it's a popular one, so I love it when a couple include them.

Oct 4th "A Unique Ceremony Location"

Sometimes all you need is mother nature to gift you a ceremony space.

Y&M had their ceremony under this absolutely gorgeous tree. 🌳

A runner, some locally picked flowers in jars, some lush vintage rugs and chairs. That was it.

Simple and stunning 🩷
