The order book is now open to order a floral bouquet for Dydd Santes Dwynwen/Saint Dwynwen’s Day (Wales' equivalent to St.Valentine's Day)

Dydd Santes Dwynwen

Bob blwyddyn ar 25 Ionawr rydym yn dathlu Santes Dwynwen, nawddsant cariadon Cymru. Yn dilyn carwriaeth anffodus gyda’r Tywysog Maelon (gafodd ei droi yn iâ wedi hynny), ffodd Dwynwen i’r diffeithwch.

Yn ei hunigedd dechreuodd weddïo, ac fe dderbyniodd dri dymuniad: y byddai’r Tywysog Maelon yn dadrewi; na fyddai hi byth am briodi eto; ac y byddai Duw yn cynorthwyo cariadon eraill ar ei rhan. Caniatawyd ei holl ddymuniadau, ac fel diolch, cysegrodd ei bywyd i Dduw ac fe sefydlodd leiandy ar Ynys Llanddwyn, Ynys Môn.

Yn ogystal ag edrych ar ôl calonnau pobl, hi hefyd ydi santes anifeiliaid sâl a chlwyfedig.



Saint Dwynwen’s Day

On 25 January every year we celebrate St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. After an ill-fated romance with Prince Maelon (who was then turned into ice), Dwynwen fled into the wilderness. In her solitude she prayed and was granted three wishes: that Prince Maelon be thawed out; that she would never want to marry again; and that God would help other lovers on her behalf. All Dwynwen’s wishes were granted, and in return, she devoted her life to God and founded a convent on Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey.

As well as looking after the hearts of humans, she is the patron saint of sick and injured animals.

I cannot guarantee that I will have flowers left if you have not pre-ordered.

Another lovely evening at Talyllyn Railway - Tywyn - Wharf Station King's Café creating wreaths.

Thank You to Lorraine for inviting me and organising the evening, and everyone for creating such beautiful wreaths.
