The Falconers Mews The Falconers Mews - stay tuned for 2025

10/04/2024

Sadly, the fair won’t be happening this year. We have thought long and hard about making this decision. But as we are trying to evolve the fair into something that everyone can get behind, we underestimated the amount of changes that needed to be made in order to continue to make this the premier event on the calendar. We WILL be back next year and will not forget the support from stalwarts and newcomers. More information to come soon. But please make sure you support other fairs as the vendors are the ones who will loose out otherwise.

This year, on the 5th and 6th May 2024, we would like to invite you to our event hosted by Kelmarsh Show. The event is no longer the British Falconry and Raptor Fair, after running annually for a long time it needed to evolve. It might look like we are just trying to slap a fancy rebrand onto the same old event but it is far more than that, yes we have changed the name and branding but we have also completely changed the way the event will be organised. We have a team of like minded people who want to see this event succeed. Our previous events have been run by one organiser and while the person organising our fair has changed over the years, the event has always been managed by one person. Now we have a team the event should run much more smoothly. It is also going to be divided up and our collective effort will make a positive impact. We have also changed the way we think about the event, it is very easy to fall into the trap of making it an event run purely for and by falconers. We would like to make an event that is still for falconers, however we also want to promote, educate and celebrate falconry with everyone. We want to make this an educational experience that the public can enjoy just as much as us Falconry enthusiasts. We have lots of ideas and plans so please keep an eye on the page for updates. If you would like a stall then please get in touch!

Thank you

The British Falconry and Raptor Fair 2023 held at Kelmarsh Show is officially over.
It was a risk changing the location and date of the fair but I do believed it paid off, while we didn’t have many exhibitors the ones we had are amazing and we had some excellent displays and footfall.
A big thank you to all that came to support the fair as a visitor.
Thank you to the stalls: Heritage Hoods, The Identity Store, A Clarke Falconry, Female Falconers Club, Graham Forbes, Silver Fox Falconry, Chris Payne, and The Central Hawking Club.
And a huge thank you to all the display providers for pushing through and putting on a show: Jake Murray, TWO Bird Experiences & Education Ltd, Mercer Falconry, Willows Birds of Prey & Wildlife Trail, Icarus Falconry, and South East Falconry Group.
Thank you to the guys behind the scenes and working on the weathering: Adam Fry, Carl Pattison, Freyja Payne.
And thank you to Josh 'Boing' Holmes for all the photography, pictures will be on the way!

Once again, thank you to all the visitors who came and Kelmarsh Show for hosting us, we are all looking forward to next year’s event!

Chris Payne will be exhibiting at this years fair!

Chris Payne started making falconry furniture more than 23 years ago, at the end of the last century. In 2008, Chris started his own business, specialising in bespoke falconry gloves, with a mission statement to make the best product possible, using the highest quality materials available.
This is still true today, with the result that his gloves are retailed in exclusive shops in Mayfair, are the choice of Middle East royalty, and a deserved reputation for being some of the best in the world.
As well as the bespoke gloves, there is also a full standard range, which start at very competitive prices. But, rest assured, every glove is made in the United Kingdom, with the standard of quality only achievable by being made by a single craftsman.

Kyle Sharpe will be providing displays at this years fair!

I’ve been practising falconry for a number of years now. Son of a passionate naturalist and falconer, I’ve been inspired to learn and practice the ancient techniques since childhood. I practice my falconry with different species of raptors, using different techniques. Throughout the spring and summer, I fly falcons in my own time for pleasure to a lure, sometimes doing displays with them, such as these years show at Kelmarsh. Throughout the winter I fly various hawks and practice falconry in its truest and purist form of the definition. This year I’ll be flying my Peregrine X American Kestrel hybrid, ‘47’. Despite her micro size, she has a huge personality and often causes mischief when the centre of attention. A nightmare for myself trying to showcase her speed and agility, she may sit upon one of the marquees mocking me, much to everyone else’s enjoyment. I may possibly be flying ‘Zally’ my Gyr X peregrine X Aplomado Falcon tri-bred too. It all depends if she will be ready in time for her weekend appearance! Hope to see you there and talk about falconry today and the wonderful array of Birds of Prey we will be showcasing as part of the Falconry and Raptor Fair.
