Honouring Acid Techno DJ & Producer, Jamie ‘TIK TOK’ Taylor: Continuing a Legacy of Inspiration Through Electronic Music.

The electronic music community mourns the loss of Jamie Tik Tok Taylor. His unexpected passing has left an impact on those who admired his talent, passion, and commitment to the world of Acid Techno. However, amidst this loss, there's a glimmer of hope and a profound gesture that amplifies Jamie's legacy.

Jamie Taylor's presence was more than just a DJ and producer, sharing and creating music; he was a catalyst for enthusiasm and inspiration within the Acid Techno scene. His infectious mixes and passion for acid techno not only entertained but also ignited a fire within budding music enthusiasts.

In the wake of this tragedy, Jamie's family has taken a generous step to honour his memory and continue his legacy. They graciously donated a set of DJ decks to us at Amplify SW, as a Community Interest Company dedicated to inspiring teenagers with electronic music. This act of kindness ensures that Jamie's love for music will live on, touching the lives of aspiring young talents.

Amplify, founded with the mission to empower teenagers and ignite their passion for electronic music, couldn't have received a more meaningful gift. The DJ decks donated by Jamie Taylor's family will serve as a bridge between the past and the future, carrying forth his spirit and passion for music. Through these decks, Amplify will continue to nurture the next generation of music creators, fostering an environment where young minds can explore, experiment, and find their voices in the realm of electronic music.

As Amplify moves forward with these donated DJ decks, they do so with the intention to honour Jamie's legacy. The sound of these decks will echo the spirit and passion he infused into his music, guiding and inspiring teenagers to embrace their creativity and express themselves through electronic sounds.

So excited to be back, with all proceeds going towards maintaining AsOne.csc to keep it going as a fabulous community cafe we all know and love.

Check our newly appointed resident DJs for Amplify; Sky-fi, CJack and DJ Erb with support from DJ ElecTR1x, prepare to SKANK!

In order to provide this safe space, we have many different processes we go through before, during and after the event.

All attendees must bring a physical ID, this is an event for 15-17 year olds. SIA security will be in attendance, bag searches and pat downs are a condition of entry. No alcohol and no vapes/smoking, anyone attending our events with alcohol or turning up intoxicated will be refused entry. Our venues and staff have the appropriate licensing and DBS checked to work with young people. We pride ourselves in curating safe and inclusive environments where young people can come to socialise, enjoy music and express themselves.

If you’ve been passing ReachOut Creative Futures in St Austell in the week you might have wondered where the FAT BASS has been coming from. With the start of the new term we are delighted to welcome our new cohort of young learners having fun learning about music and DJing!

We LOVE working with home educated teens. We KNOW that learning is fun in the RIGHT ENVIRONMENT 🎶🫶 Mainstream education is not right for all and the ReachOut team do an amazing job at facilitating an alternative space for young people to build confidence, make friends, learn new skills and work on Maths, English and other qualifications.

It's been just under a year since Amplify SW came into the scene, and we have been TRAILBLAZING to inspire young people with electronic music🤘 This weekend at the Rock Oyster Festival in Cornwall, we hosted the Pearl stage that showcased some of the most talented young local DJs.

Rue, DJ Erb, Sky-Fi, CJack, Luke the Ripper, DJ Jakey, and Bai set the stage on fire with their incredible performances, delivering a mix of House, DnB, Jungle, Techno and Old Skool Rave music, and jungle beats each evening. We were blown away by their exceptional talent and amazed at the confidence and attitude they displayed, fearlessly taking the spotlight.

It’s been an honour to nurture this pool of incredible DJs, providing them with a platform to shine, and the result was a mind-blowing experience.

Massive thank you to the team at Rock Oyster for supporting the vision and providing the space to let these youngsters shine, the future is bright. And massive thanks to the parents, guardians and teachers for all the support and for braving the mud to get them there. We feel there a reason for the success of this project in such a short space of time and that is because it’s resonating with the community. Big up the YOUTH and build confidence, music bringing people together! We are gonna make some NOISE!🌟

With nearly four years experience, BAI is no stranger to Drum and Bass. Growing up, Bai has always listened to the beats of jungle and having a passion for artists such as; LTJ Bukem, Chase & Status and Shy Fx. From getting his first controller at 17, he started perfecting his DJing and found himself having sets all around Cornwall. Regardless of the genre or tempo style, don’t be surprised when you suddenly find yourself dancing to the sounds of BAI. 🖤

If you have a deep understanding of DJ techniques, equipment, and music genres, along with a strong desire to inspire aspiring DJs, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
- Delivering engaging and informative DJing lessons to students of various skill levels.
- Teaching fundamental DJ techniques, including beatmatching, mixing, scratching, and more.
- Demonstrating the use of DJ decks or controllers effectively and efficiently.
- Providing personalized feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their DJ skills.

Requirements:

Delighted to announce we will be hosting DJ skills workshops as part of Golowan Festival
in Penzance! Workshops are FREE and for 12-19 year olds. In collaboration with Musicability, ASONE Hub and Penzance Council.

Running this session we are very lucky to have secured the extremely talented and experienced Hannah Bee. Hannah has been DJing since 2006 under the artist name ‘Hanabi’ and in 2022 founded her events brand Falmouth Loudmouth where she runs a Fresh Fish programme which allows young DJs to make their stage debuts in a safe and supportive environment. Previously she’s organised DJing workshops for underprivileged girls and young women in Croydon as a Girlguiding volunteer She is passionate about the healing power of sound — physically, socially, mentally, and emotionally — and believes that arts forge unity, which in turn builds community.

The latest addition to our team is Rewan Leach. Rewan is a highly accomplished music production tutor, specialised in Ableton Live. With an unwavering passion for music and a remarkable talent for teaching, Rewan has made a significant impact on the electronic music scene and the lives of aspiring musicians.

Rewan's journey began during his studies at dBs Institute of Sound & Digital Technologies where he began hosting lectures on music production and eventually took on his own tutor group within the institution. After a few years, Rewan transitioned to providing private tuition, allowing him to tailor his teaching approach to the unique needs and goals of each student.

Beyond his commitment to music education, Rewan's genuine care for others shines through in his work with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. He understands the transformative power of music and uses it as a medium to empower and support these children, fostering their creativity and self-expression.

Rewan's contributions to the global music scene extend beyond teaching and mentoring. He is internationally recognised as ‘Pluvio’, the co-founder of Symbiotik Records. For those attending tonight don’t forget entry is subject to an ID check. After what happened at the last unders night at Berties we will have SIA security presence with bag searches & pat downs for every customer in operation & a condition of entry.

- No alcohol. Anyone attending our events with alcohol or turning up intoxicated will be refused entry.

- Anyone found with the possession of drugs or under the Influence of drugs will be refused entry, parents will be called and police may be informed.

- First aiders are present at ALL our events.

- Free drinking water is available at the bar inside the venue.

Zimma is a talented 21-year-old DJ and producer who has made a name for himself in the UK Drum and bass scene. 📣 Super stoked to announce our artists for our next unders party on Friday 26th May. This is our CHARITY FUNDRAISER for Amplify SW to get more equipment for our young DJs to use. We’ve had so much support from the community and have had sooo much interest from young people… but we desperately need more decks!

This event is also to showcase an exceptional level of young local talent in Cornwall, where the acts will go head to head in a DJ Competition to win a set at the next event. We have been so impressed with the passion and determination of these young people with their musical journey. Big up to local legend Max Zimma for headlining this event, being a constant inspiration for Cornish youth in the industry and donating his fee for this party to support our cause, we love you! 🙏

Finally none of this can happen without the support from AsOne.csc providing the venue for us and their wonderful crew. Part of our mission statement is providing safe spaces for our youth to socialise, explore and be inspired by music. The wonderful crew and volunteers create a very special space where we are confident young people all over Cornwall can come and dance and express themselves.

Great day with The Careers Hub for My Skills, My Future 2023! Wonderful comments from staff and students alike who are super interested in working with us. Our stand was bustling with activity all day, apologies to the teachers to struggled to pull their young people away, we were busy dancing 😉

We are back again due to popular demand with our 15-17 yrs events and this one is set to be a blinder. Massive thanks to AsOne.csc for hosting our charity fundraiser 🙏 We have been overcome with the support for our work in the community but we lack DJ decks for our young people to use! Proceeds from this party will be going towards equipment to help us to continue to inspire young people with electronic music and curate safe and inclusive spaces 💟

For this event have opened the decks to provide opportunities for newcomers to play. Their future is in your hands as our young ravers get the opportunity to vote online for their fave DJ set, with the winner securing a headline set!

Doors open at 7pm and ID essential on entry, strictly 15 - 17 year olds.

As part of our safeguarding policy there will be SIA security present and bag searches and pat downs for customers in operation.

Totally humbled by our SOLD OUT unders launch party last night. Driven by a passion to provide safe spaces for youth to come and express themselves we’ve been blown away by the support from the community and positive comments from parents and carers of the young people who attended last night. A massive thank you to the awesome team at AsOne.csc and the Amplify volunteers and youth workers; they gave the youngsters a run for their money on the dance floor!

Part of our vision is to promote inclusive spaces for young people to enable connection; healthy minds, healthy bodies and healthy souls. It was so lovely to see everyone making friends and connecting through music. It’s a place where we welcome and encourage each other; he’s, she’s and they’s and LQBTQ+ friendly… you can dance with us!

Finally a MASSIVE well done to our DJs! It takes something special to have the confidence to get up on stage in front of your peers, and not only did they do that, they blew us away with their sets 👊😍🔊

We are super excited about what this means for the future of the scene. Looking forward we are cultivating a collective of educated young people with a passion for music. The young DJs performing NOW have a bright future ahead of them, lets celebrate the success of these youth and encourage and motivate them to continue pursuing their passion, for the future is in their hands 🫶💜🔊
