Thank you to everyone who came to the Sotterley Fireworks, we would like to thank Sotterley Hall for hosting us and everyone who helped make the event happen.

We would like to apologise for running out of food so early in the evening. The previous events we had lots of left over food but we clearly got this wrong this year and are sorry for anyone who went hungry as a result.

Our amusements provider also pulled out on us and we were unable to find a replacement at short notice.

We are working through and responding to messages and understand the frustration but ask people to remember that the team behind the fireworks night worked very hard to produce a great event which was unfortunately tainted by the food situation. The firework display was great and we hope that most people enjoyed their time there.

We look forward to making next year's event happen smoothly and with improvements!

Ladies and Gentleman, Boys & Girls - Get set for a fabulous evening at Sotterley Hall!

Tickets are nearly sold out! But whilst available you can buy online right up until opening but keep an eye on the website and our social media pages before you leave if you do not already have your ticket. Pre-order food and drink is now closed.

Address - Sotterley Hall, Beccles, NR34 7TU - This is the main estate entrance, not the same as last years 'Drive In' event at Jays Hill Road.

Please have a copy of your tickets on your mobile or printed ready for scanning on arrival.

Gates open at 5pm, arrive early for the lighting of the fire at 5.30pm!

We do accept card onsite but backup cash advisable, rural locations can be subject to technical issues.....

We are now onsite busy setting up and will not be monitoring emails and social media so please bear this in mind if you need questions answering.

The Maui Waui Pirate ship has set sail due East on a course to dock at Sotterley Hall & Gardens this November 5th!

There will be a swashbuckling DJ plying the finest disco classics to keep your feet warm. Mulled wine will do the rest 🍷

Flashing LED swords will be available to buy for those who have misplaced their cutlass! ⚔️

We’ve got a stunning show lined up for this years November 5th display at Sotterley Hall.

It all starts with the designer carefully choreographing a sound track, then cueing up all the fireworks to trigger in time with the music. It takes 1000’s of individual ignitions all fired automatically from a digital control system. Gone are the days of running around with a lighter!

We have a huge speaker system to play the soundtrack which you can hear across the whole site. Whether you want to be in the front row, or all the way at the back, we’ve got you covered.

Announcement coming in the next few days!

We are receiving a lot of enquiries for our firework events this November. We appreciate you all want to know what’s planned, particularly if you have purchased tickets that have rolled over from events cancelled due to COVID.

All ticket holders will be emailed in the next few days. We will also update our (very out of date) website and launch an event on Facebook. Keep an eye on your emails and our social media channels.

Drive In Fireworks Henham Park on 27th March is cancelled! Due to the current restrictions in place we cannot go ahead with our planned event so please don’t go to Henham on Saturday. All our focus is now on a super Bonfire Night extravaganza in the Autumn. Can’t wait to see you in a field in the near future.

It is with a heavy heart….

Drive In FIREWORKS - Henham Park was launched as a NYE spectacular which postponed to 14th Feb, and then the 27th March which is now no longer viable. By the time we can legally go ahead it won’t be dark until much later which means many families with young kids won’t be able to come along. There is also the issue of households mixing indoors which poses a challenge for travel to and from our event. As much as we want to deliver these shared experiences that have brought joy to so many in difficult times, we feel we are trying to make the shoe fit. With this realisation we don’t believe we would sell enough tickets to break even and therefore have decided to cancel.

But, it’s not all bad news! We are now focusing on the autumn firework season and will be launching a mega Bonfire night special fireworks extravaganza! By November we should be able to put on a more traditional event, with a huge bonfire, sparklers, hotdogs and the very best pyromusical show. This gives us great hope that Suffolk will get to enjoy a much bigger and better event than we could ever put on whilst restrictions are still in place.

If you can roll your tickets over to our Bonfire night special we can assure you your investment is safe and you will be rewarded with a truly memorable night. You are of course entitled to a full refund so please email [email protected] with the title 'Fireworks Refund". Please bear with us as refunds take a long time to process and we aim to complete all by the end of the month. For anyone who can hold onto their tickets we are very grateful.

We hope all our wonderful friends, followers and supporters have been staying well during lockdown 3? Given the circumstances it has not felt appropriate to be promoting an event during these difficult times but we are very aware that many will be wondering what is happening with our scheduled event Drive In FIREWORKS - Henham Park on 14th February so here is the latest update.

Our events cannot go ahead during a lockdown, and we wouldn't feel right to do so either. As we are still in the midst of this pandemic we have taking the decision to postpone our Drive In Fireworks event to Saturday 27th March, a day before the clocks go forwards for British Summer Time. We very much hope by then we will have taken back some control over this virus and we can enjoy a level of freedom again.

Sunset times will be later so our 2 events will now be brought together into one bigger event. This will have a firework firing time of 7pm, just as twilight is giving us the perfect light conditions. You can arrive in your car from 5pm.

If you already have tickets for 31st Dec/14th Feb shows these (and any food/drink orders) will automatically be rolled over to Saturday 27th March. You are of course entitled to a refund if you cannot make the new, new date!

Our event on 27th March can give us all something to look forward to, at a time when we dream of going out with family (and maybe even friends!?) to create some good memories for 2021.

Don't go to Henham Park today!

With Suffolk moving into tier 4 on Boxing Day we studied the guidelines and were unable to find any specific information about whether we can go ahead with our New Year Drive In firework events. But tier 4 is called "Stay At Home" so we feel we have a moral obligation to not go ahead on New Years Eve, despite the fact these are essentially a click an collect, contactless service where you stay in your car.

As we did last lockdown we will still go ahead, but now our event is postponed to the 14th February. This lands on Valentines day and also in the school half term break so will give us all a perfect opportunity to kick start the new year once things have settled down again.

If you booked a ticket and food/drink for the New Year event at Henham Park these will be automatically rolled over to 14th Feb for you - you don't have to do anything. The NYE 5pm show is now 6pm on 14th and the NYE 8pm show is now 9pm on 14th Feb. This accounts for the later sunset times.

If for any reason you cannot make the new dates we will offer you a refund. To claim this please email [email protected] with the email title 'NYE REFUND'. We will start the refund process on 4th January when our office opens up again after the Christmas break. We will assume after this date you are holding onto your ticket and refunds no longer offered. Your money is entirely safe and ring fenced so pleased do not worry.

If you can support us and hold onto your ticket we would be hugely grateful, and you know we will put on a fantastic show just as soon and we are allowed to.
We cannot wait to see you at Henham Park with a smile on our faces and joy in our hearts for another super night of entertainment.

Give this amazing team a follow and support them if you can. Not only are they our amazing event team of traffic marshals, vehicle recovery and first aiders but they do so much for the community of Suffolk and South Norfolk. They selflessly helped so many during the flash floods around the river Waveney across the Christmas period. A brilliant local charity and a great bunch of people too.

It’s all gone quiet! The Drive In Fireworks team have taken a much needed break from social media, emails and event planning to be with our families over Christmas. 🎄 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Our shows in Henham Park on 31st Dec are postponed until 14th Feb due to the stricter tier 4 rules in place in Suffolk. If you have tickets they are automatically transferred to the new date. For those requesting a refund we will sort these from Monday 4th Jan. If you want to join us for a Valentines spectacular then don’t hang about, book tickets for you and your loved ones. Our events have always sold out as we keep numbers low for your safety.
The pandemic has been incredibly hard on the crazy people who try to organise live events but we will not be beaten and will keep trying to bring us all together to enjoy fantastic fireworks from the comfort of our cars.
Now is not our time as we all need to stay strong to beat this damn virus, but come Valentine’s Day we hope we will be able to celebrate again with loved ones.

WOWIE!
What a night!

We've been flooded with positivity after our events which we are hugely grateful for. It was been immensely challenging delivering these delayed drive in shows in a field in December!

Drive in Fireworks was brought to you by Maui Waui and Event FX Limited but we could not have done this without so many hardworking, tenacious people.

Ea-CAT - Eastern Community Assistance Team provided an incredible team for First Aid, traffic marshalling, towing assistance and muscle to get you all in and out of the field. Such a professional team that didn't buckle under the pressure and we applaud them. Norfolk & Suffolk 4x4 Response provided extra backup on the Saturday.

Jos and her team from The Pulpo Pop-up Co worked their socks off to have 100's of hot burgers and baps for the drive through and mobile food cart. W.J. Seppings LTD supplied some great quality burgers and bacon.

Louise Render and her amazing team from Firewaterbar organised and delivered all pre-orders and sales from the mobile cart with enthusiasm and a smile.

Foolhardy Circus Arts put on fire juggling and circus performance before the fireworks. Richie and the guys from FTN SoundSystems. Damian on Power and Lights. Along with all the Maui Waui and Event FX crew who each racked up more than 70,000 steps in just a few days! You know who you are!

A special mention for Tom and Anna Barne of Sotterley Estate who trusted us to deliver these shows on their land. The ground has taken a mauling but we've cleared the site and it will return to grass ready for cattle again in the new year.

Thank you everyone for taking your rubbish away- we've never seen an event site so spotless afterwards which makes us proud to be local!

Wonderful night at Sotterley Estate for Suffolk’s first ever Drive In Fireworks event! It was such a spectacular show and we’re delighted we finally got to launch the bonfire display we had planned so long ago. Thanks for everyone who came, we’ve had some fantastic feedback. We go again today for shows 2 & 3. Please come down as close to opening time as you can to allow plenty of time to get you in safely. We have a large team of people to assist you and your car in and out of the field. Let’s do this! 💥

We had a great first show last night! Thank you to everyone who came.

TONIGHTS SHOWS PLEASE READ -

***Please avoid coming in vans, the majority of vehicles getting stuck were vans or because of vans being stuck :) If you have no other vehicle then still come and we will park you close to the track***

***It would help if you can locate your towing eyes before the event incase you get stuck. Much time was spent looking for these (They are usually with your jack or spare wheel)***

Tickets are easier to scan from phones that paper - if possible please show your phone screen rather than print outs. Also keep your windows up as much as possible to help protect our gate staff :)

We have a new set of tracks ready for todays vehicles and look forward to seeing everyone later on 💥

Gorgeous weather for our first site build day!
Here’s some really important information so please have a look.

SITE

Getting to the Jay’s Hill Road entrance (NR34 7UH) is via small roads that are single lane so please take care and allow plenty of time. When you arrive please drive DEAD SLOW as we have people on foot around cars and your brakes won’t work as quickly as you would expect on a road. The grassland is bumpy in places and you need to keep speed below 10 mph for your own safety. With all the rain we’ve had the ground can only take so much so please help us by keeping revs low to avoid wheel spinning. We will have multiple lanes to ease traffic so please follow the routes as directed by our staff and marked with rope lines.

The ground will end up with muddy areas so please ensure you have suitable footwear, wrap up warm and bring a torch for getting to the toilets. We do have some site lighting, but large areas are in darkness.

COVID

Of course, we are in the middle of a pandemic and we are lucky to be able to put on our event at all. We are under intense scrutiny from the council who will be onsite so we have some ground rules that must be followed otherwise we may be shut down mid event. Please read the government guidelines on tier 2 and make sure you follow them. Some key points:

• No mixing of households or anyone outside your bubble when indoors. Cars should be well ventilated and face masks worn if you can’t social distance effectively.
• When onsite please stay in your car as much as possible as we are advised not to interact with other households or groups of more than 6 people.
• Alcohol should only be served with a ‘substantial meal’ and we are asked to advise you to consume this when seated in the vehicle, just like a restaurant table.
• The only reason to leave you vehicle area is to go to the toilets. Please observe our social distancing signs and use sanitiser before AND after using them. We have sanitiser stations available for your use.
• You can be outside your vehicle to watch the fireworks but you must stay in contact with your car.

We can see that this sounds like the fun police are trying to stifle the occasion but it’s important for all of us and I’m very confident we will still have a fab time, and in a safe and responsible way.

Doors open 2 hours before the show time on your ticket so please do come early as our biggest concern is getting everyone in for the show in a safe, orderly way. Your experience will be infinitely better in a warm car, parked onsite with entertainment, music, food and drinks than queueing in the dark on a country lane!
