2 years since we made it official ✌️
It wasn’t going to be a big deal for us. We were too excited about our celebrant wedding that this day to us was just a case of making it legal.
But… family reminded us that all these moments are still days to celebrate and it’s not a common thing to just have our close ones celebrating our love (we are Indian after all!)
So we made a day of it, got dressed up… asked to capture the memories and the LOLZ and it all happened on a very special date… 22.2.22
Thank you to these amazing vendors who helped us make this day so special:

One of the best parts about wedding planning… THE CAKE! We recently came across an article by sharing some alternative flavours for wedding cake and we were 🤤

If you’re still deciding which flavours to go for, check out the article (Linked in stories) for some inspiration.

If we were doing it all over again (which by the way, Jaina plans a new wedding for us each week!) we’d totally want to give these a try: Coffee Cream… Strawberry & Champagne … or Olive Oil & Rosemary, because it makes us feel fancy!

P.S. This cake was made by and it tasted as amazing as it looks!

Ahhh - Goodun!

We’ve been there and we get it! Indian priests are trying to reduce the time of the ceremony, but it can still be quite long at times. And in the heat…🥵
Let’s be real, it’s normally the kids that cause minor chaos when the ceremony is starting to drag on a bit too.

Here’s a few ideas on keeping people engaged:

🟠 Choose a priest who knows how to keep the crowd engaged. This is SO important and a lot of priests now understand that it can be long winded. Choosing the right one can make all the difference. Someone who can crack a few jokes, explain things in English, and quieten the crowd when needed will make all the difference to your ceremony.
🟠 Have some activity packs for kids to keep them entertained whilst the ceremony is on. It shouldn’t take too much budget to have a few colouring sheets and crayons for them to play with
🟠 Snacks/water - Always a good one to have around, just in case
A lot of Indian ceremonies are now spoken in English - there could be guests who are interested but not engaged as they don't understand the language. Maybe have some English spoken explanations throughout the ceremony to keep people engaged and let them know what’s going on
🟠 Programme of the ceremony. You could print out the stages of the ceremony details onto a card, placed out on each seat for people to understand what’s happening throughout the ceremony
🟠 Have music playing in the background throughout the ceremony, it can help keep a pleasant atmosphere

It will be difficult, you may not always have your guests full attention, but that’s ok. Your ceremony is for you and the key is for you to be engaged and in the moment.

QUESTION: How to tell people, we want a kid free wedding? 😟

This one is a tough one, and we can imagine it’s a difficult one to approach with your loved ones… especially if you’re one of the first to make this call.

Firstly, you need to think about this decision and if it’s right for you as a couple and for your big day…Swim to see a few of the advantages and disadvantages:

If you go ahead with a kid free wedding, there’s a few ways you can handle it to make it easy for you and your guests:

💛 Let your guests know as early as possible, so they can start looking into childcare options. Include it in your invitation and any other places you have wedding information I.e. wedding website/ FAQs

💛 Explain your reasons why. We are big believers in, doing what’s right for you on your day, but sometimes, having an explanation for your decisions, makes it easy for your close ones to understand

💛 Be clear and firm with your decision. Don’t start making exceptions for different reasons from your guests. You’ll end up saying yes to so many, that you might as well not try to have a kid free wedding in the first place!

💛 If budget and time allows, maybe you can support with childcare options at the wedding, or have some suggestions available to help your guests

💛 Stay strong in your decision - it’s your day and if this is something you want, your closest will understand … and you must also be understanding that they may not be able to make it

It can be a tough decision to make, and impact relationships, but you have to do what feels right for you on your day. Not everyone will agree, but if it’s important to you, then go ahead and be strong in your decision.

Our celebrant did a fab job in adapting to our culture, getting our close ones involved and running the ceremony so smoothly... PLUS! We got to do shots during the ceremony! Show us a registrar that will let you do the same?! 🤷‍♀️

If you're considering this style wedding & looking for a celebrant, here's our recommendations based on who we've met and had a vibe with:

Wedding season is in full swing for most people who have been in the industry for a while, but for us, it starts this month! EEEP!

We are so excited to be filming for our couples and are bursting with ideas on how to make some killer videos for their special day!

So to get into the full swing of wedding season (for TwentyTwo Moments), we’ve had some questions fired at us that we thought might be useful/fun to answer here.

Starting with this one:
Q: ‘How do you tell your guests to sit their asses down and not get in the way of the photographer?’ 👀

Our answer: Most photographers are pretty skilled at getting their shots without Aunt Karen getting in the way. But, you could always share a note with your guests that you have a professional photographer so keep your cameras to yourselves until the end of the ceremony 💁‍♀️
We’ve attended an Indian wedding before, where the priest asked the couple to stand once the ceremony was over and told guests that if they wanted to get a pic of the couple - now was a good time. Maybe something like this could work for you?

Pinch me moment!
Roughly around this time last year... we partied in the rain at Pub in the Park and it was a f*cking BLAST!
As you may already know, we are major foodies, and we got to meet ,eat some amazing food and have quality party time with some of our faves!
In these moments we always say to ourselves... These are the times you want to look back on forever, keep the memories and have captured it in some way, because this is really what we live for - just being in the moment, doing the things you love!

Well get this... This year, we... as in me and Hemel... we get to film Pub in the Park, Leamington Spa!
What the frick!?
We cannot explain just how pumped we are and super honoured to film some amazing chefs, musicians and general good time vibes at this year!

Bring on the weekend! 🤘

Monday Mood

We don't quite have the feeling of Monday blues in this new chapter... however, learning the grind when working for yourself, is very new!
It's a scary thing to go out there on your own, you realise there's no one to tell you what to work on next, or projects that keep coming in, or a day off - just because! There's more skills to develop than just videography & photography...
💪 Discipline - I could pick up the PS remote, or I could create a new video and learn something new to create better edits for clients
💪Time management - because now I really understand the meaning of time is money
💪Networking - meeting people and opportunities to work together with other small businesses and support each other to grow
💪 Health - It could be easy to fall into a rut, but a healthy body & mind is what will keep me focussed to do better for clients and myself
💪 Work/life balance on a whole new level - sometimes it's hard to keep the separation between work & personal time, especially when you love what you do
One thing which has been super helpful with this, is being able to use a co-working space, it keeps the focus of work, in a working environment. Meaning home time is just that - time at home to switch off!
Just to throw it out there for anyone in the Midlands, Canal House in Loughborough is a fantastic spot and the community that have created is truly supportive and motivating to be part of.

Keep grinding people... we reckon dreams can come true!🤌

Life has recently taken a turn - we’ve been hit with redundancy!

What started out as a passion we wanted to do on the side of our full time roles, now takes a turn to deciding how we continue adulting and keep the dream alive.
The knee jerk reaction would be to find another full-time job and put the life of a film maker on a back burner - but when do we ever follow what society tells you?🤷‍♀️

From now on - Hemel will be working full time on this dream - you’ll be seeing more of the additional work we’ve been doing as well as weddings!
Twenty Two Moments will expand to more video & photo for businesses and events, and we’ll keep the wedding content coming too.

For those who have their weddings booked with us, fear not - nothing changes for you and we will both be there as planned!

We hope you’ll continue to follow and support us in this new chapter… and obvs if you know of any opportunities then hit us up peeps ✌️😅

Going against the grain for your wedding…😟
It can be a scary feeling to choose something you want for your wedding, that is not the traditional way of doing things
🥧We chose to serve pies instead of curry at our wedding - that's a definite no no for some of the aunties turning up... 🙅‍♀️So here's how we handled making that decision and hopefully some tips for you if you're thinking to rebel against traditions too...
1. Only worry about the opinion of those most important to you. 🧡For us - we wanted our parents on board with our decision, so we had a mini tasting session and got their true opinion on the food only - they loved it of course!
Speaking to many people will give your brain a meltdown because everyone will have their own opinion on what they think is right… So try and keep the chat minimal to those you care about most or maybe even just between yourselves as a couple

2. Make the decision that’s right for YOU. 🫵You may go back and forth on deciding what you want, but ultimately, it has to be right for you. Choosing to go with something that everyone else likes but not yourself, it only leaves you feeling sh*tty about the decision for your day.Choosing curry would make all our guests happy, but not us - and being the foodies that we are…we want to eat a banging meal on our wedding day!Once you decide, don’t question it… be happy with your decision and any comments you hear, let them slide, because if they ain’t moaning about pies, they’ll be moaning about something else - so if they’re gonna moan, let it be for something at least you enjoy!

3. Find a supplier who understands you’re going against the grain and is willing to support you to make it happen. A massive thank you to mesa_catering for dealing with our random requests, and for such a smooth service on the day giving our guests not a single thing to complain about - apart from that one uncle wanting a second serving because it was so damn delicious!

Although it’s scary to go against the grain - there’s big gains for your happiness, so go for it!
