What a bizarre summer we are having, no? Regardless, this gorgeous couple brought the sun to their wedding day on Saturday. They beamed all day, and everyone had an excellent time.

We started the day getting ready at the Petersham Hotel in Richmond, then moved on to Pembroke Lodge for the ceremony and reception.

Alex and Savannah • St Ermin’s Hotel, St James’s Park, London.

What an amazing day Saturday was. I got to spend it with these two legends.

Although they’re based in the US, Alex and Savannah chose to celebrate their wedding at an iconic London hotel. Friends and families gathered from all over the world to share it with them, and it was an absolute joy from beginning to end. (EXCELLENT dancing…)

Savannah’s mum made her stunning dress, and I think you can guess who made Alex’s suit. 😉 Don’t they look fabulous?

It’s not very often that it only takes me 20 minutes to get to a wedding, so you can imagine how delighted I was when Helen first got in touch about her and Victor’s English/Nigerian wedding in Crouch End, North London.

The ceremony was in the beautiful Christ Church, and was a riot of colour and joy (just look at that confetti!). Then we travelled to Waterloo Park for their couple portraits. I think we managed to make it look like there weren’t 12,456 people in the park. ;)

The reception was held at Jacksons Lane Art Centre in Highgate. We gathered in Studio One upstairs, for a buffet dinner, following by a very lively ceilidh.

I had the loveliest day ever on Saturday, at Natalie and Alessandro’s elegant wedding in London. The ceremony was at the iconic Islington Town Hall, then it was on to The Scolt Head in east London for the reception. I just adored Natalie’s elegant dress - she looked insane.

Looking out of the window today, I’m SO grateful that we had relatively cool temperatures! It was actually perfect weather, with the perfect couple. 💗

❓Have you ever inadvertently forgotten to reply to a wedding supplier that you reached out to for information or a quotation?

I want ti be honest; of late, I’ve had so many colleagues in the wedding industry share their experiences of being ‘ghosted’ after responding to enquiries or providing quotes in the past few weeks.

🫶 Tonight, I’d like to gently remind everyone: if you’re reaching out to suppliers or indeed venues for information and quotes for your wedding, *please* don’t leave them in the dark. If the quote isn’t right for you, if you’ve chosen another supplier/venue, or if you’re not able or ready to commit or even if you’ve simply changed your mind — just let them know. It’s a sign of respect and courtesy during your wedding planning.

Remember, the suppliers you’re contacting are often small businesses for whom every client counts. The start of 2024 has been challenging for many in our field, and we’re all feeling the pinch from the cost of living and rising expenses. That’s why it’s vital for these entrepreneurs to be able to forecast their earnings accurately. It’s more than just courtesy; it’s essential for their sustainability — I can’t emphasise this enough.

If you’ve recently asked for a quote from any wedding service provider, please extend them the courtesy of a response once they get back to you. A simple acknowledgment like ‘Thank you, but we’ve decided to go in a different direction,’ or ‘Your work is wonderful, but unfortunately, it’s out of our budget at the moment,’ goes a long, long way. They will completely understand, I promise you.

Also, bear in mind that if another client is ready to book on the spot, a supplier may not be able to hold your date indefinitely.

It’s OK to say ‘No, thank you’ - but it’s really not OK to ghost. Let’s practice kindness and empathy towards the dedicated network of small, creative businesses in our wedding industry. No more ghosting, please! ❌👻

I booked another 2024 wedding today, this one will be at The Old Marylebone Town Hall (and then on to The Ned in the heart of London). I can’t wait to share Steve and B’s big day with them. 😊

There has been a real surge in enquiries and bookings since New Year, so if you’re still sourcing suppliers for your 2024 wedding, and you find people you really connect with and you love their work, I’d strongly recommend that you don’t hesitate, and that you book them ASAP. 

Fellow photographers, what have been your most popular dates this year? For me, it’s been July 20th and the 24th of August! I could have booked both dates at least five times over. 🥴

I had an enquiry last night for Burgh House, and it reminded me of Olivia and Tom’s beautiful wedding day.

Burgh House is a charming wedding venue in Hampstead, and is perfect for more intimate weddings (the maximum number they can cater for is 70 people). Not only is the house itself beautiful, but the surrounding areas are quintessentially London. Gorgeous Victorian villas and pretty tree lined avenues mean a huge variety of backgrounds for your couple portraits.

I can’t wait to be back there again this year!
