It’s time for me to take a little break from social media.

It’s been a busy summer and the Team and I have a busy autumn coming up, and to be absolutely honest there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

I prioritise my website for detailed content which is what all of my clients have told me they love. But there are still weddings from a while back that I haven’t had chance to blog and share yet. So rather than snippets here on social media I’m going to prioritise those larger pieces of valuable content. The link is in the bio to take you over to the website. It’s absolutely gorgeous!

I’m also a firm believer of prioritising the time I have with my you, my Clients. And ensuring I have properly allocated time for the beautiful images I create for you and with you.

I’ll be back on here soon but for the immediate future it’s going to be more about seeing people in person and creating real life human engagement.

And so that there is no doubt on this; we are absolutely still open for business and bookings. The team and I will just be focusing on you rather than social media!

UPDATE: Thank you for the texts and private messages since I posted this yesterday.

Messages concerned for my own personal wellbeing and the health of the business.

I was a little taken aback that such a simple straight forward ‘does what it says on the tin’ post would create such a whirlwind of supposition.

The messages of concern whilst much appreciated for their show of support are misplaced.

Life is good. The business is strong. Team NKP are here to stay, doing what we do best.

There is no drama here.

I have simply prioritised my Clients over the endless void that is social media. I don’t think that’s a bad thing!

Just like today it was a little breezy here in the Cotswolds back in 2020!

We were working within lockdown restrictions with a max of 28 people at weddings, and all socially distanced.

This wonderful couple got married amidst all of this. Originally their wedding was planned with nearly 300 guests. But they just wanted to be married which is the best reason to get married. And so they pulled it right down to what the restrictions permitted.

What many of you may not know is that I was there in a dual capacity as both photographer and bridesmaid as this is my beautiful lifetime bestie and her beau. This was a true honour to photograph ☺️

You’ve got to love the British weather!

It’s certainly been giving us a run for our money over the past few months that’s for sure.

However as a professional wedding photographer I always strive to create magic for my clients. And when the sunset just isn’t there because the weather isn’t delivering, then we just create it!

“I was desperate for a sunset shot however we weren’t blessed with a sunset on the day. Nikki however is magic and made this happen! I think this is one of my most favourite shots!”

I often hear that photographs are about ‘things’ or ‘people’ or ‘locations’. And that the better and prettier and more dramatic they are the better. Well that sort of makes sense in general terms doesn’t it?

But to me what matters just as much is how the image comes together. Yes there is the subject matter (that’s you, and you are always my priority) but there are also many other things I’m adding into the equation and checking before I hit the shutter button.

When I’m taking your wedding photographs, most of my attention is on you. The ‘subject’ or the ‘hero’ of the story I am telling.

And then I am looking for a where the light is falling, what’s the mood and emotion playing out in front of me and does that balance with the backdrop. I’m looking to see if there’s enough ‘room’ in the image I’m creating to let it ‘breathe’ and then, when I’m sure I’m that this encapsulates the vision I have, I then and only then do I take the shot.
