Race one is the Isel cross race in a 5.5 road/trail race. At £10+booking fee for affiliated runners, it's a cracking value race. Medal, chip timing, super friendly and a great route organised by local club Derwent AC.

The one-off event is held in memory of Jack Howe, with all proceeds going to the James Cook Hospital Neo Natal Charitable Fund.

We were pleased to be invited to assist with marshalling the event around Lorton Valley on the 2nd January 2023, as we were their chosen charity for this year's event.

A huge thank you goes to Mark Likeman for organising the event and donation, and to Janet at Graysonside Guest House for the hospitality and her kind donation also. ""We are hope you are ready for the Bank Holiday Monday North Lakes Half Marathon & 10K Races.

Please read the following important information:

Race Numbers -

Although we have posted out all the numbers we are aware that some people have not received their number due to current postage issues. If you are one of these people, please do not worry, your place is secure and we will be operating a registration desk on the morning of the event to provide you with a replacement.

PLEASE make sure you arrive with plenty of time to collect your replacement number as we will be closing registration promptly to make sure everything is ready to start the event. If you could do this when you first arrive on the site that would be much appreciated.

Registration will be open from 8.15am until 9.30am only.

Additional Information Reminders :

- Please bring your own safety pins. There will be none available at registration.
- There is no parking at the event HQ as normal.
- You will need to show your race number to collect your food/drink after you finish
- We have a baggage store so please bring warm cloths for after the event
- We will be doing the 10k prize giving first as soon as we have the results information
- the safety briefing will be at 9.40/9.45 for both events.

We are just working through some of our prizes for the The North Lakes New Year Half Marathon & 10K 2023 . All prizes come with artwork from Rolf Parker of Skylark Studios Cockermouth. The image looking towards the lorton valley will be recognisable to anyone who has ran the event before.

Also, posted numbers are still arriving with people this week. We will be emailing about this on Saturday for anyone who doesn't receive a number.

With only a few weeks to go until the The North Lakes New Year Half Marathon & 10K 2023 , the race numbers have been posted, so there is no turning back now :-)!

All of our marshal points have been allocated, but if anyone is free to help out Lee, at the wonderful Lorton Village Shop - A Shed With A View water station, please let us know. It will be extra busy this year with both the HM & 10K going through. message us if you are free for a few hours.

We will be sending out the final event information emails over the next few days with all of the important race details.

With just over 1 month to go, the medals are ordered and the race numbers will be posted out mid December to avoid any festive clashes. **Marshals needed January 2nd 2023**

With the new North lakes 10k running along side the North Lakes half, we are looking for anyone who may be supporting a loved one or coming to spectate who would be willing to volunteer as a marshal? To run the event safely we always need a number of marshals around the route. If you are free and would like to jump in and support you will get a free entry to the 2024 event, along with a free sandwich and hot drink on the day.

**North Lakes New Year HM Race Update** - New Race!

Since starting the NLHM we have often had requests for races of shorter distances. We are very pleased to have been given the go ahead to run a North Lakes New Year 10K as an addition to the event.

The 10K route follows parts of the half marathon course, is a mostly flat route, is suitable for those looking for an early season PB or just a fun, friendly run to start the year.

We anticipate this may be quite popular with only 150 places so make sure you grab an entry from **19.00 this evening**.

The new event doesn’t mean we have stopped taking Half Marathon entries, we have just over 100 places left of the 400 spaces.

At 6pm tonight we open the North Lakes New Year Half Marathon for the 5th time. For 2023 the event is going to be held on January the 2nd, Bank Holiday Monday.
