✨️✨️✨️ my first summer of weddings in 2002! ✨️✨️✨️

This is 18 year old me, I'd just finished my A levels exams and had the summer FREE! I had a place to study documentary photography at Caerleon University in September 2002.

As soon as I finished my last A level, I got home, sat on the stairs in my parents hall with the yellow pages and the phone (landline!) and rang as many local photographers as possible until someone offered me a job for the Summer ☀️ someone finally did, and I ended up meeting this photographer the next day and shooting my first wedding with him that weekend! Talk about being thrown in at the deep end!

I photographer my first Summer of weddings with a beautiful Hassleblad which had a medium format box on the back which housed a film that had only 12 shots available - one had to be extremely disciplined when choosing the right moment to capture! and often I'd have to run off and change the film throughout the wedding day.

The camera I'm holding in this photograph was the first digital camera I used at a wedding, a Fuji S1 pro a fantastic piece of kit at the time! this photograph of me was taken in the bridal suite at Fonmon Castle.

I'm forever grateful for the man who said yes when rang him, and I also believe that you create your own destiny, if you want something, then make it happen ✨️ I'm still here today capturing weddings, I still get excited meeting new clients and being creative behind the camera 🥰
