Running another Sparks club, dyslexia workshop session for Toucan Education tomorrow - secret codes, stop motion animation and barefoot computing should be a lot of fun!

Sparks Club is back this Saturday!💡

Join us for a brilliant codebreakers workshop where we’ll be decoding secret words, making stop motion animation and practicing barefoot computing - all great activities to help build ordering and sequencing skills to support spelling. You’ll also get to make your own code breaker to take home!

Join us for our first ever WARM SPACE session on Wednesday 22nd January. Its free to access. Plus, we also have warming refreshments available and WIFI. Open to all those struggling to cope in the winter months, or for those living alone or facing loneliness. We'll be open from 10.30am to 2.00pm / 5.00pm to 8.00pm

It's so hard finding time for ourselves as parents, here's some useful advice 🙂

So many of our families come to Toucan burnt out and stressed from taking care of children with SEND and navigating the school system.

Parenting a SEND child can be difficult, and we know it's hard to make time for yourself but even little things can make a big difference.

Our blog is full of ideas and tips for taking care of yourself, we hope it gives you food for thought, and encourages you to make some time for yourself🫶

I had a fun day today at Barnabas Safe & Sound with a group of young people who were designing and creating their own board games. There were some very imaginative ideas of games that were great fun to play! 😃👍

Wednesday's Workshop with Barnabas Safe & Sound was a Paper cut Animation workshop. Young people storyboarded their ideas, created paper cut characters and scenery before filming their stories.

Tons of fun and creativity last week at Barnabas Safe & Sound Monday was the Creative Theatre workshop. The kids came up with stories and created props and costumes from cardboard and other materials, then performed their plays. We had futuristic robo Dino's, fantastic s MN magical stick people and Mad scientists saving accident prone inventors with AI brain transplants! 😄🧪🧑‍🔬🤖🦖

I've just been sent this wonderful painting by Sophie one of the fab young people who attended last week's Barnabas Safe & Sound Unplugged Workshops. If you look closely at the fern you'll see how she has depicted the Fibonacci Mathematical Sequence in the spiral created - beautiful! You can see the Mathematical Marvel of Nature in the unfolding of ferns, nautilus sea shells, snail shells, pine cones, pineapples, the shape of our ears and many other things 🐚🍍👂🌳🌸🌻🌼 Great work Sophie I'm glad the workshop inspired your artwork 😃👍
