For those who remember our eventful night in Lanchester Community Centre will remember the strange occurrence with an automatic light coming on when nobody was in that area. We got sent CCTV to back up our claim, and we couldn’t debunk it.

Well it’s happened again! We were shown this piece of footage captured when the building was empty and locked up, taken a few nights ago. The time stamp is just before 1am, so a similar time of night, but not the exact same time (ruling out a timer)
We spent hours trying to debunk it and couldn’t. It looks like something is happening regularly in this building which is causing this to happen!

🚨 Please be wary of spam comments on our event pages claiming to be offering tickets. It’s just bots searching for ‘sold out’ events on Facebook then trying to trick you into buying fake tickets. We’ve had them all afternoon. If anyone can’t make the event, they usually message us and it’s Wayne who then sorts it.
The profiles are quite obvious to spot too. I doubt anybody is flying in from Iowa to visit the Ovingham Reading Room 🙄

Last night we left a microphone inside Cresswell Pele Tower and locked the door. All the guests last night can verify that everybody was accounted for during the break. 33 mins later we came back, and this is what was on it (full 33 minute long unedited audio file in the comments)

Thanks to our guests for coming along to our event last night at Cresswell.
Over the course of the night, we had access to several locations to investigate - a mix of indoor and outdoor areas. We were also joined by author Rob Kirkup & friends from the How Haunted podcast, who will be doing an episode on this location very soon.

The night started off with a call out session inside the pele tower on the top floor. A human pendulum experiment was conducted and the responses implied that we were communicating with a female, in her 30s from the 19th century who died in an accident on a horse. The name we got seemed to be the betters B, R, O, and then possibly an A / N.

We did a call out session with various pieces of equipment setup - REM pods, Flir thermal camera and a spirit box. One of the team thought they noticed movement on the wooden balcony over the room, and multiple people said they heard knocking sounds, possibly footsteps. Later on we also noted REM pod activity over a period of about 2-3 minutes. Then things went quiet and all of the activity ceased, so we decided to have a break.

During this time we left a locked off mic in the Pele tower while we went to the bothy for refreshments. The building was locked and everyone was accounted for. We will post the full audio later on, but we have captured bangs and possibly an object being dragged.

After the break, the group split. Rob Kirkup and his group spent some time in the Pele tower to record, and the other group went into the woods. The presence of a large group of people spooked local wildlife and a lot of birds were woken, so we decided to go into the walled garden of the old Cresswell Hall instead. A light inside an out building was later debunked as a permanent green light inside.

A guest also noted seeing a misty haze in some of her outdoor images in the wooded section which was only visible on some pictures.

We did another vigil in the Pele tower but did not experience much activity. One guest reported seeing a light moving up the wall on 2 occasions, believing it was a security/motion sensor, but when we had a look, we did not find anything on there other than the stone interior wall.

Finally, we did an Ouija board session inside the old bothy which is part of the wooded garden. We appeared to get the name ‘Beth’, come through and some activity on 2 EMF meters. We suggested that this could be short for Elizabeth. This is interesting as the name is well associated with the family and easily researchable, but an alternative/less obvious variant of the name came through.

Overall, an interesting night from such a beautiful location.

Another eye witness to the supposed white lady of Cresswell phoning into Metro Radio with his story. He lived in the village as a child back when the tower was a ruin (please don’t steal any birds eggs on Saturday night when we’re there 🙄)

A few years ago, a lady phoned into Night Owls on Metro Radio after she had a strange experience at Cresswell. Here is that phone call below.
The orange dots on the map show where archeological digs have been carried out in that field, and 2 Bronze Age burials were recently discovered. You can also see the bus stop that she mentioned.
Really excited to be investigating there next weekend!

It’s quite incredible how funding has transformed this old ruin into an events space for the public to enjoy. I first went here around 2013, so it’s fascinating to see it before and after it was opened up.

I have spent a few years researching the ghost stories from Cresswell, as there are so many. Is it more than just a legend? Real people who live in Cresswell have given them own eye witness accounts to what they claim to have seen beside Pele Tower and in the woods around it.

A few pictures from inside the The Deptford & Millfield Community Centre in Sunderland, a former orphanage for the nearby workhouse that still has punishment cupboards with multiple locks on them, corridors that lead to dead ends, a carpet that keeps getting dark stains appearing no matter how many times it gets ripped out and replaced… join the event tagged above to let us know you’re coming!

We have had CCTV footage from our investigation at Lanchester Community Centre that appears to show a light activated by motion sensor. We have been trying to debunk it: * Everybody was accounted for (in gym, and 2 people placed in rooms further away) * The sensor only picks up movement when you stand in the actual doorway. All other doors in the corridor were closed. * No insects were flying around when the area was checked. * Lights and lasers were shone into the hallway but had no impact on the sensor. Thoughts?
