My Accidental Full Time Business!

I didn’t set out to start a business, I quit my chef job and bought a dog (to make sure I couldn’t go back to all those hours!) with no idea with where I was going to work and made a flower crown for myself. I took the dog to the beach and that’s where I met Lucy- My first customer, she coincidentally asked me to make her a flower crown for her pagan wedding- and the rest, as they say, is history!

It started off as a steam rally here and there and small village fairs (I was over the moon if I‘d only made the money for my table!) and after 2 years of trial and error- working out which glue is best, which suppliers to buy from, which events work well, how to run my own business financially etc etc I have now got to a point where I get 4-5 enquiries a day with orders placed for posting all over the world, being a finalist in the National Wedding Awards, a listed and used supplier for wedding venues country wide, working in styled shoots with well established and loved bridal companies, hosting workshops in places like The Tate St Ives and such valued bridal testimonials from afar a field as Croatia and Thailand!

Who would know that would all come from going to the beach with my dog! I wish someone was there to tell me that if there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing then DO IT and yes it’s scary and you won’t sleep anymore but it’s SO worth it!

Next year I will be attending bigger festivals, working in exciting collaborations with Cornish Businesses (support local!) and am currently in talks to have my gift boxes on ‘Not on the High Street.com’ ready for Christmas! I’m hoping 2020 will be my year with my website shop being updated daily- anything to stay out of working in those kitchens again!
