Thinking about the challenges of being first generation farmers today after the crappy old mini tractor we saved for years to buy proved once again unable to do literally anything 🤣😭😭
Have to pause and remember to be proud sometimes of how much we've learned from nothing though, how we improve year on year and all we've done on the farm in the last few years. The most challenging ever, some colossal mistakes and somehow also the stuff dreams are made of 🩷😍
A lovely letter to my fellow first generation farmers 🩷👨🌾👩🌾

Bouquet delivery for the gorgeous @emily.hulme_x 😍🩷
Absolutely adored her and her whole colour scheme / vibe - Emily loved dahlias, amaranth, and snapdragons so we saved every dahlia we had left in the field for her gorgeous autumnal burgundy and pink scheme with lots of traily draaaama.
Just stunning - I can't wait to show you her broken arch and how incredible it all looked at the church, @thornbridge_estate_weddings and with their absolutely stunning marron velour bridesmaid dresses.

When we ask for your budget - I promise it's not so we can squeeze as much money out of you as possible!
Knowing what you'd like to spend on your wedding flowers allows us to realistically plan what we can do to achieve the most impact for you for your budget, how we can reuse and repurpose flowers throughout the day and how we can make the absolutely most out of what you'd like to spend on florals to wow you and your guests on the day, and shine in your photographs forever!

Here's the next step after soaking your corms, potting them up!
I'll pre-sprout them all like this, then when they've grown some roots I'll pop them into their final positions - in the polytunnel or outdoors under low tunnels.
Are you growing ranunculus or anemones this year? Hit me up if you'd like to ask any more questions on growing and I'll answer as many as I can on reel this week.
We use big 125 cell trays from @containerwisetrays at farm scale but the Charles Dowding Range from there has great smaller ones for home gardeners - they are super sturdy and should last forever (not sponsored, just love them). Comment 'tray' and I'll DM you a link to the ones we use!

A little guide to starting ranunculus and anemone corms - your first job is soaking them.
I'm a less washing up always girly - so I dumped all my varieties in together for speed and ease and I'll hate myself for it later when it comes to picking 🤣.
Tomorrow I'll show you how I pot them up! L x
Wedding florist tips 💐🩷
A statement piece > lots of little bits for maximum impact on the day and in your photos!
A fireplace installation, a moongate or arch, or more budget friendly options like bowls or urns on plinths or milk churns all give that height and a gorgeous frame to you as a couple as you say your vows - they can often be repurposed later in the day too - we are ALL about making your flowers work hard for you all day long!

What will always stick with me the most is how my nan taught me to appreciate the beauty of slow and ordinary days with the people you love, and to be grateful for life and its simple pleasures.
So much of how I wanted to create a home, a life and my relationship with my children has been shaped by my nan, and I will be forever grateful to have known her, been loved by her, and for the inspiration, and impact she has had on my life 🩷

Last week I chatted to you about all the flower types we pop into our bouquets - here's the demo of me actually making it!
And for the topic of discussion...
Is it boo-kay or bow-kay? Xx
The two other flower types we like to include in our bouquets - spikes and airy accents!
Thinking of all these different flower forms and types can be really helpful when planning a varied cutting garden or bouquet. Tomorrow I'll chat to you about foliage, then I'll share with you how I put them all together 🩷
