Over the last few weeks we have been running some brace and orthotic aid drop in advice sessions @gloucester_ski centre.They have been so well received. One of our clients left us this review after the session: I have been looking for a knee brace I can use skiing and off road motorcycling. It is a purely preventative measure, as I have a suspected dodgy ACL. I do not want it to become a broken ACL.Back into Action (https://www.backintoaction.co.uk/) put me in touch with Laura at LEWis Brand Orthotics. Laura helped explain the options over the phone and suggested I come along to a ski coaching morning at Gloucester Ski Centre where she was running a clinic so folks could try different braces.What a fabulous service. I was able to get a few runs down the dry slope to warm up, then 2-3 runs each with 3 or 4 different braces covering the whole range of ACL support. It allowed me to get a feel for the differing levels of support and, with Laura’s input, sort out what I wanted to do. It also allowed me to check the braces all fitted in both ski boots and MotoX boots. And the ski coaches were great as well. 👟 Exciting News from LEWis BRAND Orthotics! 🌟 We've been given a unique opportunity to create solutions for a young child with sensory-seeking behavior affecting his feet. 🦶💙 The little boy hits his toes on the floor when in his wheel chair or adapted seat which means he is wearing holes in the toes of shoes within 2 weeks and regularly gets bruises and skin break down on the toes. In the past he has had orthopaedic boots supplied by the NHS which have been too heavy, restrictive in movement and limited his desire to get around. 🔍 We have decided to trial the following options as a start point: 1. Custom insoles with neurological sole plate additions by Blueprint Ltd. 2. Lightweight trainers from Nimco via De Novo Healthcare. 3. Skechers trainers with reinforced rubber toe area done by Beagle Orthopaedic. 🤝 Collaborating with the child's physiotherapy team, we aim to provide lightweight, flexible, and protective solutions. Our goal is to enhance sensory feedback without the need for repetitive hitting.📆 The trial started this week, and we're eager to see the results.
