We are looking forward to this years Village Fayre, hoping to raise funds for some fantastic local charities!

Another donation to a fantastic cause, our very own Denham Village School. Karen Merison and I met with Mrs Sharma and the House Captains to give them their donation. They were delighted to be included and are planning on upgrading the shelving in the library in line with there push to inspire children to read 📚📖.

We look forward to working closely and involving the school and children in the Centenary Fayre in 2025.

The 2nd nominated donation from our Fayre Sponsors, Carter Duthie and Lightning Recycling is Trinity Homeless Projects. We met with manager Rob who showed us around their hostel. This is a 33 bed short term accommodation where there aim is to assist the residents to move into supported housing. Many of the residents come with alcohol, substance or mental health challenges and the team work with specialist to help them move forward. The facility should be for up to 3 months but as there are a shortage of houses in the next stage they have had some residents stay with them for much longer meaning that they are always at capacity. Rob showed us the amazing Sleep Pod which they would hand out to anyone that they are unable to house; this is a insulated pop-up triangle pod which keeps you dry and warm moving into the winter months.
This is a project close to Lightning Recycling's heart as they already work with Trinity assisting in house clearances for their properties around London but have also committed to help this facility with waste clearance and refurbishing the Marquee so that the residents have somewhere comfortable to congregate together.

Our donation will go someway towards setting up a smart recovery group in their Marquee and giving the residents a lovely Christmas dinner / party.

Rob and his team work tirelessly to make all of their residents feel safe and comfortable and provide them with a hot meal once a day. They would always welcome any volunteers who would like to cook, so if this is something you are interested in please call Rob on 01895 811998 🙏

Another worthy donation to Denham Green E-ACT Primary Academy today. I met with the Headteacher, Mrs Kilyan, and had the pleasure of meeting the school council for a lovely photo. Mrs Kilyan was delighted that their school had been selected and is very keen to update their indoor and outdoor playtime toys for the children and would also like to put some of the money into speciality toys for their SEN quiet room. Another worthy donation presented by Graham & Penny Clayton to the Madelene Paton Lunch Club which is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at St Marks Church Hall, Denham Green 12 - 2.30pm. I had the pleasure of meeting Mac Paton and his wonderful volunteers; Trixie Savell, Michael & Gloria Burrell, Pauline James, Brenda Howard and Stephan who come together to buy, cook and serve all the food and drinks to their lovely group. On today's menu was Madelene's Mix (bolognaise & rice ) which smelt delicious, it costs £4.50 and they receive tea & biscuits on arrival, a warm lunch, pudding and even a glass of sherry and then they either have a quiz or bingo. Speaking with the group they all said how much they love coming along, not only for the food but for the companionship as they all look out for each other. The money we have donated will help with the general running and food but also will go towards a day out for the group. Today our sponsors, Imogen from Carter Duthie & Josh and Danny from Lightning Recycling, presented their chosen charity: Hillingdon Foodbank with a hugely well deserved donation. We met the wonderful manager, Peter who showed us around their operation in New Denham and explained a little more of what they do;
Food donations; their team of smiling volunteers pack up essentials for over 300 families/Individuals in the Uxbridge and surrounding areas on a weekly basis.
Community Support; they offer guidance on managing household finances, accessing the correct benefits and also connecting people to other services to assist them in long term solutions.

Peter explained that spiralling logistical costs and dwindling donations had hit their operation so our donation has assisted in keeping them afloat but they need more help. As the season changes their needs will become greater so any donations, offers of help at HQ or delivering parcels would really benefit those who need it most. Our 3rd Donation was to Denham Lighthouse Holiday Club which ran towards the end of August from St Marks hall.
The wonderful Azita, the Lighthouse Keeper, ran this in conjunction with St Marys Church Denham for 32 children. The donation from the Fayre Committee enabled the purchase of equipment , food and resources to ensure that the children (Years 1-6), had a fantastic fun end to the summer holiday. With crafts, songs, games and teaching on the theme ‘Jesus Rocks’. All of the volunteer Team Leaders agreed it was wonderful to see such happy children enjoying themselves!

Excited to announce our second charity donation from the Fayre. We met with the amazing Karen Harding and her lovely Mum to present the donation to Dog Lost www.doglost.co.uk

Karen has been tirelessly volunteering for this charity since her Mum's dog, Roxy went missing many years ago. She was thrilled with the donation as she said it would help to fund some of the Ring Doorbells that they use to watch area's where dogs have been spotted. These all have annual subscriptions so any funding is invaluable. They also need cages, blankets, food and so much more. We thank the whole team at Dog Lost who regularly come out to siting's at a moments notice, lay wait for hours to capture and reconcile us with our doggies.

We are absolutely delighted to announce the first donation from the Fayre to a local charity. Santa’s Secret Service are an amazing volunteer lead charity that was set up in Covid by Paul and Chloe, two Denham residents, to ensure that the children around Denham and Harefield still got to see Santa. They work tirelessly to assist Santa in giving out over 1500 gifts annually, over 2 days during December in return for a small donation. The donations are then shared between their chosen charities for that year. This year it will be Denham EACT and Harefield Infants & Junior schools. We know our donation will go to very good use but please do support them if you can - please contact Chloe via Fb or email [email protected]. Well done to all your team and we look forward to seeing the Big Man in December

If there are any green-fingered gardeners who are free tomorrow (Thursday 11th July) at 9.30 am please consider coming down to St Marys Church in Denham to join in the Churchyard Garden Volunteers. Please bring your own gloves and tools (attendance is at your own risk) but there will be Tea/Coffee provided.

Wow, what can we say except a massive THANK YOU 🙏🏼 to everyone who came and supported the return of our Fayre yesterday. It was an amazing day , the sun ☀️ shined , mostly, and all of our wonderful stallholders greeted you with their amazing gifts, delicious food and exciting activities. The band played and Mr Punch entertained us.

A host of volunteers put up stalls, baked cakes, served tea/coffee, made sandwiches, drove 🛺 and manned the car park 🅿️ - we could not have put the Fayre on without them 🙏🏼

We have some lessons to learn for next year but watch this space for 26th May 2025
