Amazing achievement! As you know I'm a regular visitor at Park Wood and know this will bring comfort to many, well done Sheryl.

ISS Catering Assistant at CRH, Sheryl Smorthit, can often be found fundraising, and her latest project has just become a reality.

She’s managed to raise enough money to install a Letters to Heaven post box at Park Wood Crematorium in Elland, giving people a special way to stay connected with loved ones who have died.

Sheryl said: “It’s a way for children to share their drawings or cards and it’s a bit of peace of adults as well. They can share their news – writing your thoughts down sometimes is a big thing.”

💖💫💖 Wedding Law Reform update......

Concluding thoughts are: The letter is of importance as it underlines that, despite not being mentioned in the press release, independent celebrants are not excluded from the reform – but the question of whether they are to be included will be central to the consultation. And the focus here is likely to be on preserving the perceived dignity of wedding ceremonies.

So, still some way to go.

Today we said farewell to Dr Barry Seal. MEP

His truly was a life well lived.

The phrase “a life well lived” can sometimes sound like a bit of a cliché — a line we reach for at funerals and farewells, polished smooth from so much use.

Yet today, as we celebrated the life of Dr Barry Seal, MEP, those words felt anything but empty. In his case, they rang true — a reflection of a man who gave his time, energy, and intellect to public service, to his community, and to the people around him.

Dr Seal’s life reminds us that while the phrase may be familiar, its meaning is made real by the rare few who genuinely embody it.

RIP Dr Seal. Your legacy lives on.

Government Announcement on Marriage Law Reform

Whilst we are still waiting for definite timescales there has been a government announcement today about marriage law reform. See the .gov website for details:

It looks as if there will be a consultation document coming out soon and we will keep you informed of any responses that will be required.
