Project mud bath makeover ✨ So far I’ve relocated their pool to a graveled area. Marked out the spot for the pond to go, dug a stream and checked the water runs downwards towards the pond area ✅ have lined the stream area, built a mini wooden bridge and started adding a load of pebbles. I’ve also collected a van load of rocks and brought them to our house. I’m slowly moving the rocks to the back and digging the main pond area a little bit here and there. Moved the first of the grasses into the back area by the bridge. Bought some wildflower and pond edge seeds from . I’ve been investigating pond pumps and also thinking to turn the small pond into a bio filter. Still looks like a mud bath but I can slowly see the vision coming together. 🙂

Final update on the injured wild duck we have been helping. He left us a couple of days ago of his own accord. We gave him his own private space as the other ducks were a bit over bearing. He rested for a good week but was left to completely free roam, had his own private pool and was fed well and had his own coop he could use if he wanted. I think he was enjoying the good life but eventually must have felt strong enough to return to the wild. Really hope he goes on to thrive, hopefully he will come back to visit one day 🥰

Just to update that our rescue duck aka Teddy (I don’t know where Mabel gets these random names lol) is doing very well. Moving around with much more strength now, taking a dip and eating and drinking. I think he’s going to be ok. 😀

What a day. Rescued this poor boy from the middle of the road. Several bad wounds. Managed to patch him up a bit and lots of cuddles. Hope he makes it through the night, taking him to the vets tomorrow. Swan Rescue couldn’t help, not had luck with RSPCA in past. If anyone has any tips let me know, I know ducks aren’t everyone’s specialty 😂 #animalrescue #southwaleswildlife #rspca

Front patch progress. I was late due to illness at the start of the year and zero sunflowers, eaten twice by the slugs 🐌 So slow progress but good foundations for next year. The Snapdragons, Anemones and Ranunculus have been abundant. The giant scabiosa and strawflowers are starting to flower. I’m also just adding some different colours of Achillea. The Dahlias are also just coming into flower and there are a few Chrysanthemums in bud. Most of my cut flowers are coming from the back garden area but hopefully next year this area will become more abundant.
