I am honoured to have been asked to speak at the autumn conference for Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. These are the people with whom I trained for my funeral celebrancy, and I will be at the full conference in Daventry from August 31st--1st September. Celebrants have no training as such in voice yet we use our voice in many different situations, from filling the room at a wedding with a positive and friendly tone to speaking outdoors at venues and natural burial sites or by the graveside, to our first meeting with families and couples where the situation demands different vocal colours. Dealing with grief can also take its toll for us too and so a warm down is as important as a warm up for the voice. I can't wait to share with my colleagues and hear the other esteemed celebrants who are speaking

Now that was a fun ceremony. When it comes to a vow renewal, anything goes and people are often much more relaxed. Yesterday, we had a great time with the 'Mr & Mrs' game - like the gameshow back in the day! We had two rounds of 10 questions and everybody joined in enthusiastically! The paddles were homemade 'Disneyfied' versions of the couple - brilliant. 30 years and counting.
