First review from wedding ceremony in June which I picked up quite late on. It was a real collaboration between the bride and myself with me adding a few extra touches to bring some fun for the couple. Comments from guests were through the roof: they all thought I knew the couple really well, so job done!

A beautiful wedding in an open glade in Sussex. The confetti shot was something else! As ever, I love being a small, but essential part of somebody's big day. And when they tell me it was 'perfect' and 'exactly what they wanted' I consider that job done!

A very moving article and one with which Celebrants will resonate. I know celebrants who conduct services for this kind of loss and produce a certificate which families treasure - it show that there was anticipation and excitment and a great deal of grief - that for a moment in time, it was a real possibility. Now there is an official recognition. It makes me think about the sister I had for 11 hours who actually made it into the world, but was too small and weak to survive. The horror story that my mother had to cope with is another story.

What a terrible ordeal for them and other families. Thank goodness that couldn't happen now. It does, however, remind me that my sister, Margot, is buried along with her grandparents, but they opend up the grave to put her there, although there wasn't a ceremony for her.

At yesterday's amazing UK Weddings Conference with Guides for Brides we were astonished to discover that so many venues did not know the ceremony options available to couples...

But all were keen to find out!

Did you know?...

✨️ Getting married at a licensed venue does NOT mean you are compelled to have a registrar-led civil ceremony.

✨️Many couples now choose to complete their legal marriage before the 'big day', allowing them to have a fully personalised and flexible ceremony with an independent celebrant at a venue of their choice, whether licensed or not.

✨️In the Guides for Brides panel of brides and grooms, when asked whether their ceremony options were explained by their venue, ALL said no (registrars were presented as the only option)... and ALL said if they knew, they definitely would have considered a celebrant.

✨️So couples... the choice is yours!

✨️And venues... when showing couples around, please do explain their ceremony options. More choice and personalisation = a happier couple and an even more wonderful wedding day 💖

Just catching up with a lovely ceremony at the end of 2023 at the Petersham Hotel. Super sand ceremony in an intimate setting where all the family took part. It took ages but was really worth it!
