OUR PARTIES

Master Builders are new to the childrens party scene in Hertfordshire for 2016. We provide party entertainment for your children and their friends ranging from 5 to 11 year-olds, all based around the wonderful plastic brick. Our parties typically consist of a series of 2 or 3 activities taking approximately 1.5 hours. We have lots of activities and games such as
Tower Building. Teams

have to build the highest tower possible in a set amount of time.
- Race Car building. Everyone builds their own car to run down our track.
- Bridge Building. Teams have to build bridges that span a gap and can hold a weight.
- Catapults. Everyone builds an elastic band powered catapult capable of firing a ping pong ball at the Master Builders defences.
- Egg Carrying. Teams build a vehicle capable of carrying an egg over a set distance/course. The activities run for approximately 1.5 hours and a standard party is for up to 15 children run at your venue, ideally this should be a hall as a reasonable amount of space is needed for the activities and to leave enough space for you to also prepare the party food. We may also able to cater for larger parties. Also if you have any special requests just let us know and we will try and accommodate these. A standard party is £150
For 16 – 20 children the cost is £200
The first 15 miles will be included in the party price. Any additional mileage will be charged at 0.45p per mile. Please be aware that our parties are aimed at children aged 5 upwards. If there are any younger children present they will require parental assistance. Once the party is confirmed we will invoice you for a non-refundable deposit of £50 to secure your booking. The 5.15pm club were solving a series of challenges by designing building and coding their own machines

At the 5.15pm Machines Club we continued working on the 6 challenges, designing our own machines to carry out specific tasks, from collecting tyres to 'planting' trees

This week I finally finished a GBC module I've been working on. I started this over a year ago but it's been in the unfinished project pile for a while.
It's called 'Catch & Spin Robots' and is designed by a great GBC designer called Akiyuki.
It will need running for a while to iron out any teething problems, I have been doing some tuning so it's already running slightly smoother than the video

This evening we are back at Southern Maltings with our Machines Club.
This half term we shall be working on designing, building and coding our own robots to carry out a series of tasks.
This club is for children in school years 5 - 8 and is a very friendly group of builders who collaborate together to solve problems.
There are still a couple of spaces available and you can sign up for a trial to see if it's right for you.

Was great to be part of this event today organised by Love Cheshunt wed been running a Maxifigure trail all week in shop windows all through Cheshunt and ended today with this stay and play. It was so busy all day, great to see so many happy children enjoying the LEGO.

This week at the Southern Maltings we ran our 2 regular clubs.
The 4pm Master Builders Club had the theme of pirates and created everything from ship wrecked island to Space Pirates.
The 5.15pm Machines Club were building and coding 4 wheel drive cars which had tilt sensors so could adjust their motion depending on the angle of the car.
Both these clubs have spaces for the next half term, with trials available

Last week was Pirate week at St. Marys Junior School, Ware it's very tempting to all try to build brown ships, but there is only so much brown so the challenge was to be a bit more creative, which I think they all managed well

Last Friday was the end of Children's Activities week and the theme all week was so we ended the week at Nazeing Primary School with that theme, as always some really great interpretations of the theme

Our new flags have arrived so this means that we should be easy to find at any events we do from now on.
Over half term we have 2 events, on Tuesday we are at Millbrook Garden Centre - Gravesend (book on their website) and on Friday we are in Grundy Park in Cheshunt running a free play event with Love Cheshunt so come and see us, just look for the flags 😁

Last week at the Southern Maltings at our 4pm club we were following the Children's activity week theme of Watch Me Fly, and came up with some great creations.
At the 5.15pm Machines club we worked in pairs to create and code remote controlled Sumo Bots (we even built the remote controls), which we battled on our table top arena.

Last week was Children's Activity Week and they had a theme of 'Watch Me Fly's so it made sense to use that as our build theme for the week. It was really interesting seeing everyone's interpretation of quite an abstract theme.

Last week at Southern Maltings clubs our 4pm club were making buildings and our 5.15pm club were working in pairs to build and code twin bots capable of either following a pre designed and coded route or working from remote control, they had a decent amount of towing power too.

Last week at Nazeing Primary School our builders completed the 3 colours challenge, trying to create something that only used 3 different colours (different shades were allowed) there were some great builds with some people increasing the challenge by only using 1 colour.

Last week at the Southern Maltings the builders in our 4pm club were set the challenge of only using 3 colours (different shades were allowed)
Some of them found this a real challenge but I'm sure you'll agree we had some very creative models produced.
At the Machines club we build race cars which drove straight forwards but turned when in reverse. They mounted sensors on the front so that they'd automatically avoid obstacles, but also programmed them so that they could be remote controlled.
