Posted • ‼️We have been made aware of a statement regarding restrictions and guidance for 15 guests permitted at a wedding from 12th April 2021.
‼️URGENT: THIS IS NOT YET OFFICIAL PUBLISHED GUIDANCE‼️
We attended a meeting with Minister yesterday afternoon, and understand that full guidance will be updated and published within the next two days. We would urge everyone to wait until that is available before making decisions on their plans.
However as we understand it the following may apply:
Ceremonies: permitted only in places of worship, public buildings and outdoor settings that are already permitted to open on 12th April. We seek urgent clarity on whether indoor ceremonies at licenced wedding venues will be included and will make clear that if this not the case then government guidance will be discriminatory.
Receptions: permitted only outdoors in wedding venues, restaurants, pubs and other hospitality venues allowed to open on 12th April. We strongly believe this should specifically include marquees on private land and indoor receptions at licenced wedding venues based on the roadmap to reopening.
Couples have already compromised, delayed, lost money and accepted changes throughout. We will not accept this decision as final, and will do everything we can to stand up for your rights.
Since starting our full time campaign and lobbying work in June 2020 we have sought three things: parity, clarity and support. 9 months later we still have none of them.
Clearly there is still much to do, and now that we are attending regular ministerial meetings alongside our MP & association roundtables, other industry taskforce meetings, and key APPG meetings, we hope that the collective voices of our community will be given more urgent attention.
PLEASE tag your MP and asking them to and challenge this decision.
