Roaming around the UK
Next year I turn 60. It seems like a big number but actually I feel rather liberated by the thought. I feel I have to mark it, just for me, no one else. So I’ve been thinking about what I can do. I love meeting new people or seeing old friends and I love roaming around the countryside and seeing what I can find. Some of you might know that I’m fascinated by all the things that easily go unnoticed. So I thought instead of getting people to come to me in North Lancashire to take part in my Walk, Gather, Create workshop, why don’t I come to you. What I’m planning to do is visit and roam around different areas of the uk, coastal, mountainous or flat with large skies. Due to being outside and therefore weather dependant I’m going to make it a bit like a “pop up”. I’ll check the weather forecast, I know, even thats dodgy, and announce where I’m going to be two weeks beforehand. If you’re free and fancy joining me for a Walk, Gather, Create workshop then get in touch and we will meet up for a lovely day roaming, discovering, gathering, having a picnic and creating. Or I give a time and a place and see who turns up! Or if you have a lovely venue or you’re a fellow nature lover with a great space and fancy a little collaboration then get in touch. It’ll be a day of freedom and discovery.
If this idea interests you then please pop your email address and location in the comments below. I’m excited. Definite locations so far are somewhere in Yorkshire, somewhere near Exeter and Norway. Photo taken by the lovely x

On Friday 4th October myself and Annabel from will be holding a workshop at Annabel’s place called Ways of Seeing - Ramble, collect, create. This is a day to feel free to explore your creativity. It will be a day to immerse yourself in your imagination and enjoy the beautiful scenery and surroundings of the Peak District. A day to observe and create with no rules. A day to open your eyes to the wonder of nature and discover different ways of seeing. Sapling and Sheep. A piece based on The Man Who Planted Trees by Jean Giono. All elements have been found on my local walks. The saplings are planted in soil and I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow in the birch bark. There’s also a piece of stone near the larger sapling, this makes it look even more like my surrounding area. It has a divet in it that I wanted to fill with water as my dog, Wilma, drinks rain water that has collected in the dips in the stones. She has regular drinking holes she goes to. It’s a tiny world that I can see. Ways of seeing 💚

At the weekend, 15th and 16th, my garden will be open as part of the National Garden Scheme for you to visit and say hello to me 😁 There are 6 gardens open in my village, Warton, just north of Lancaster and off J35 on the M6. Some lucky people are about to embark on the Cambo Experience. It’s a magical experience. I’m lucky to have been there twice. Cambo Gardens are located on the most beautiful coast line of Fife. It’s snowdrop time and I was there this time last year. The first two photos are what I created there but the third one are the snowdrops I brought home and they are in bud. I now have a bit of Cambo in a corner of my garden under an amelanchier tree. Thank you and and for a time I won’t forget. Snowdrops mean hope and new beginnings, how perfect.
