What does a day in the life of me look like?

Once I've got my two year old up and dressed (that's a battle in itself), then off to nursery…I'm ready for bed again 😅

But really, once I'm back at my desk, I'll plan my day:

⭐️ Calling or sending voice notes to any enquiries that come through (as I think it's a bit more personal).
⭐️ Obtaining quotes from my trusted supplier network.
⭐️ Updating my function sheets for various upcoming weddings.
⭐️ Promotional work for my Events with
⭐ Social media planning giving top wedding tips to you and personal posts so you get to know me a little better.
⭐️ Organising networking events for Talk Hospitality bringing those who work in the hospitality sector together (I build my business relations on the “know, like, trust” method.)
⭐️ Answering WhatsApp messages from my couples’ WhatsApp groups (as you get 24/7 access to my support when working with me).

I'm lucky that when I went self-employed, I decided I was only going to work

Mondays - Thursdays (unless It was the day of an event and I don't count answering the odd WhatsApp message “work” outside of these hours).

Once my working day is done, I have many hobbies I do of an evening. From singing to painting or crafting, from learning Spanish to bluegrass jamming (using my cajòn)... basically, I like to keep busy 🥰

I first started organising parties when I started uni…

In fact, we were the first flat in student accommodation to host a party and it didn't stop there…

Even after graduating university, having multiple friends into DJing, made hosting parties a lot easier.

I have always loved any excuse to organise one!

I may have fallen into Hospitality, starting on reception in a hotel, then working my way up the career ladder
⭐️ Into sales as a Wedding Coordinator
⭐️ Then Special Events Coordinator (including corporate events)
⭐️ Then Event Manager! 🎉

Unfortunately, the pandemic swept across the world and my sector was making redundancies everywhere.

Luckily, I had the support from everyone I met (virtually at this point) to start my own business.

FOUR years in and I wouldn't change a thing! 🥰

Now, I get to share all my 12 years of experience in the industry with Bride's and Groom's to be 💍

I've even collaborated with a wedding-industry-bestie () to bring you a TWIST on wedding fairs…

Have you ever wondered what makes someone truly love what they do…?

For me, it’s not just about the work itself. It’s about the life it allows me to live!

This weekend, I’ll be helping my late best friend's mum with her food shopping, tackling the housework, and, my absolute favourite part, spending quality time with my little girl.

She may keep me on my toes (she’s two, after all!), but watching her grow, learn, and develop fills me with so much love and pride!

I’m also grateful for the work I do as it doesn’t feel like "work" because I truly enjoy it. I’m lucky to have the flexibility to work around my daughter’s schedule so I never miss the important milestones in her life, and for that, I’m truly thankful.

I was once, on two different phones, two different computers and checking someone in at reception when the gentleman behind the person checking in said “I knew women could multitask but you take it to a whole new level” 😂

Granted one phone call I was looking something up so I could have this one on hold a moment, the other call needed transferring to the right department and the check-in just needed to complete their registration form… but we were told we had to answer within 3 rings and rarely did our team let it get to 4!

Curious about how I stay productive?

It's all about prioritising!

Today's to-do list consists of:

📝 Chase emails. For myself and on behalf of my couples so I'm getting those done first because these aren't the most exciting part of my day.

📝 Respond to my socials periodically throughout today.

📝 Meeting with a business partner to discuss the launch of an Event Mentoring company together (Oh, I'm bursting to tell you more about this!)

📝 Get some more admin and planning for my Bridal Brunch events with Kara because it's peak engagement season. (But this is easy for me as I'm soooooo passionate about it. This will be more like a treat for me!)

📝 Take my portable Cajón drum to a bluegrass jam session (with Wes Stanton, Heather Enness and Georgina Ashfield) tonight, sing my heart out and try to work out how to use it. (This was a Christmas present and I always have some “me” time scheduled each day.)

Anyone can organise a wedding. You're doing it, aren't you!? But are you throwing money at a wedding for someone else or because it makes you happy…?

I'm so passionate about couples actually enjoying the planning process and not falling out of love with their wedding before the big day that I give top tips and advice on my social media platform.

So, why do you need someone like me?

⭐️ I've worked in hotels and the hospitality industry for 12 years so I know all the wedding lingo. I know the ins and outs of how they work and why they do things a certain way. I'm the “middle-man” which helps communication flow smoothly.

⭐️ I studied Art & Textiles at University, which means I'm creative, have an eye for composition, and here to help make your wedding instagram-worthy!

⭐️ I don't take over your wedding but I don't just leave you to it. I work as part of your team and understand the level you need me involved, whether that's holding your hand with total support from start to finish or as little as on the day coordination.

All the things I thought were common knowledge are just years of experience in the industry that has become second nature to me.

Reintroducing myself with some weird and wonderful facts about me…

1️⃣ I'm adopted. I'm not Asian, I'm Peruvian! But I only lived in Peru for 6 weeks and grown up in the Midlands.
2️⃣ I helped with my first wedding at the age of 16 for work experience and who knew I would be running my own wedding business all these years later!
3️⃣ I'm so close to achieving 1 year on Duolingo learning Spanish
4️⃣ I regularly use my feet to pick things up from the floor.
5️⃣ I fractured my spine in 3 places in 2013 and had to learn to walk again. I wouldn't recommend this. But it's made me appreciate life a hell of a lot more.

I'm an open book!

And while some might think I overshare, I'd much rather other felt less alone knowing they can relate to something I've experienced.
