One of the key parts of beginning to plan a wedding is developing a great organisational system...

With so many moving parts and crossing paths, if you don't start with an organisational system that works for you, it can be easy for you to find yourself overwhelmed!

It doesn't matter where your email is from...Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. The easiest email format to use is a combination of you and your partner's names—[email protected].

You can even choose to make the email address your wedding hashtag in the case that address is taken. Whatever it is, it will make wedding planning seem a little easier this way.

Last week, I had the amazing experience of exploring and all I can say is...Wow!

Once I found my bed chamber, I couldn't wait to starfish - I mean, look at that bed!

They have:
❤️ Gorgeous gardens that are lit up of an evening
❤️ Tall ceilings with extremely grand chandeliers
❤️ Extremely reasonable wedding prices (even for exclusive use!)

I even loved that my room had a real key! 🔑 (just remember to return it to reception at the end)

So, hello! 👋

I thought I'd share a few things about myself, personally and professionally…

💖 I married my best friend (Ben) in 2018, and we'll have been together 10 years later this year.

💖 I'm a mummy to a beautiful, ambitious, and determined little one year old.

💖 I was adopted from Peru as a baby and grew up in England and have the best parents ever.

💖 I love being creative, and I have my crafty friends I can do this with. Whether that's painting, drawing, beading, pottery, etc. I love it all.

💖 I am a social butterfly, so I have various friendship groups…two lots of choir friends, old work friends, business friends, school friends, mummy friends (and the list goes on).

📝 I started my career in hospitality in 2012 and worked my way up the career ladder until I became an Event Manager at a beautiful boutique hotel.

📝 2020 made my role redundant, so I started my own business where I have two sides to my business ( business support and event support).

📝 I manage various private events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, as well as many corporate events. I like to keep busy!

📝 I collaborate with other Event Planners who I know, like, and trust wholeheartedly. We have each others back and can rely on each other for support with larger weddings and events.

📝 I host a networking event alongside called Talk Hospitality. A networking event for anyone who works in or with the hospitality sector (such as venues and suppliers) to build business relationships.

What does your wedding date mean to you?

For me, I have a thing about even numbers. I don't know why I don't like odd numbers. The volume always has to be on an even number too! 😅

So, my wedding date was...

18.08.18 💖

For some, the number eight is considered lucky.

We liked that it was the same read backwards and forwards.

It was also an easy date for Ben to remember! 😂

All I can say is...WOW!

This Christmas was my first Christmas with my tiny human and it's been magical! ✨️

But I just wanted to hop on here and wish all my couples from this year a VERY Merry Christmas and enjoy your FIRST Christmas as husband and wife 💖

Having had a flurry of new bookings for 2024, I wanted to wish all my 2024 couples a magical Christmas as this is the LAST Christmas before you start a new journey as husband and wife!

We've now got a few days with family over the next week, so follow my stories if you want to see what I'm getting up to!

Providing your own wine can sometimes be more cost efficient depending on what your venue charge.

🍷You may have a wine that you particularly like.
🍷You may have a wine that sums you up as a couple.
🍷You may have a family wine traditionally had at such occasions.

Whatever the reason for supplying your own wine, if the wine that you are providing has a cork, remember to either:

👉Provide a corkscrew per table so your guests can open the wine when they sit down.
👉Ensure your wedding coordinator/bar team have these open for when your guests are seated.

You want your guests to have the best experience!

Worried about how you're going juggle managing your wedding on the day, meeting suppliers, setting up decorations, as well as getting your hair and make-up done?

Delegate!

You've got enough to think about so utilise your wedding party where you can.

Learn to let go or delegate lots of smaller tasks. Because they all take time!

💍 Get your groomsmen involved
💍 Ask your family to help set up
💍 Give everyone a to-do list/task each

I'm sure you've heard the saying "many hands make light work"... well, it's true!

And if your venue doesn't have a wedding coordinator, then you'll need to learn to let go and trust your friends and family to help pull it all together.

Or...

You can always get me onboard to take all the stress away 😉

With all this rain we've been having recently, I wanted to remind you (if you don't have someone like me doing this for you) to have a wet weather plan in place!

It will save you so much stress on the day!

If you have this sorted beforehand, then you will feel confident that your backup plan will work because it's in your control.

There will always be something that doesn't quite go so perfectly in your eye about your wedding...

💎It may be that the flowers arrived a slightly different shade to what you imagined.
💎It may be that your wedding breakfast didn't start exactly on time.
💎It may be that you had rain on your special day.

But guess what?

Your guests won't notice!

Okay, maybe they'll notice a splash of rain and dress accordingly but it won't spoil the excitement they have to be there celebrating with you.

Especially when it's a hot summer's day!

Your flowers have had their moment down the aisle and for their photoshoot...

But then what?

They usually get put down.
👉 At your table
👉 On the side somewhere
👉 Get tossed around

But to keep them as fresh as possible, they need to keep hydrated (kinda like you)!

And if you're sending them off to be preserved after the wedding (I put my mum and mum-in-law in charge of sending these), then they need to stay as hydrated as possible.

Honestly, it's so worth it!

So, remember to have some vases available or dotted around the room so you can put them down and keep them fresh. It also adds to your decoration too!

I was brought up in a household where we never had fizzy drinks and the only options were juice, squash or water…

Anyway, my first job was pot washing before progressing to waitressing at a local pub. One day, someone asked for a lemon and lime. And yes, you guessed it…

I physically brought them a lemon and a lime! 🙈

Oh the embarrassment once the realisation kicked in!

Anyway, when I left to pursue my education at university, I was let loose so fizzy drinks and alcohol became a lot more familiar 😅

When I returned home to my parents after getting my degree, I fell into hospitality starting out in reception and I loved it.

I'm a people person.

My colleagues saw my potential and even had a bet that I would become a "quality winner" (staff incentive) within a short time frame, which I did.

I love the hospitality industry.

❤️ I love how fast-paced it is.
❤️ I love problem solving.
❤️ I love helping people enjoy their experience.

And now, I get to help all my private and corporate clients with their events!

However, since the pandemic, hospitality has struggled to get back to 'normal' and Jonathan Smith and I want to help the industry thrive again.

So, we are proud to announce that we will be launching

🎉Talk Hospitality! 🎉

⭐️ It's aimed at anyone who touches the hospitality sector.
⭐️ We will aim to have this every quarter.
⭐️ We will be looking to host these at different venues across the Midlands.

Last night I had such a blast with other wedding suppliers. There were FOUR of us Wedding Planners in the room and while most people would say 'ooooo that's your competition', it was actually refreshing to chat to them all and talk all things wedding related, our couples and the unique things we are getting involved with.

It also means, we have back up for ourselves and someone to bounce ideas back and forth about own own businesses.

We aren't employed and while we LOVE running our own businesses, it's great to have that support from others who GET your industry and line of work.

It's been a while since I last introduced myself to my new followers, so I thought I'd tell you a little bit about me...

Ten years ago to this day was possibly the worst day in my life, but I was brought up with my parents telling me

"It could always be worse"

This has always stuck with me through every hurdle I've come across in life:
👉 Understanding and learning about my adoption from Peru.
👉 Severe eczema and asthma I developed as a child.
👉 Collagen crosslinking eye surgeries.

Having this motto instilled into me from an early age helped me look for the positives in any situation.

❤️ My adoption made me feel special, loved and lucky.
❤️ My eczema and asthma didn't stop me doing anything the other kids did (I found a way around it).
❤️ My eye surgeries were done to prevent my eye condition, Keratoconus, from getting any worse.

However, in 2013 I had my car accident where I sustained a 4 inch head injury and fractured 4 parts of my spine where for 4 weeks I was…

On my back.

Immobilised.

Blind without lenses (glasses don't work with my eye condition) .

The doctors said that people tend to go one way or the other depending on their mindset so I was determined to stay positive, heal quickly and learn to walk again so I could get back to living life.

I may have had my down days but overall I stayed pretty upbeat, thanks to my parents.

"It could always be worse"

✅️ I knew that over time, I was one of the lucky ones that would be able to walk again.
✅️ I knew that the half head of hair that had to be shaved would grow back.
✅️ I knew that my full body brace wasn't forever.

I used my time to evaluate what was important to me and worked hard on my exercises to help me recover.

I now use my positivity in all aspects of my life whether it's at home or within my work life.

So, that's a little about me... I'd love to get to know you and your fiancé/fiancée better!

Did you know there are many places you will need to get in touch with after the wedding should you be changing your last name...
𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁
Please be aware there is a cost to change your name on your passport
𝗛𝗠𝗥𝗖
Complete the HMRC name change online form with your Gov. Gateway ID and password & your National Insurance number
𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸
You will need to visit a branch in person and make sure to bring your marriage certificate (MC) with you
𝗠𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲
They will usually just require a copy of your MC and form of ID
𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝘅
This can be done online by completing a form and uploading a copy of your MC
𝗗𝗩𝗟𝗔
Requires a D1 ‘Application for a driving licence’ (available from most post offices) and send your photocard along with a copy of your MC
𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗻𝘀
Write and tell Student Finance England if you’ve changed your name or marital status.
𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀
Will require an original copy of your MC and a copy of anything they deem as acceptable confirming your identity (so check each provider)
𝗨𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
Contact your utility suppliers directly either over the phone or via email
𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹/ 𝗚𝗣/ 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁
It is not a legal requirement, but some will consider it good practice to request you MC
𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿
There may be changes to your email address, payslips and so on, so it's worth telling them quickly
𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀/ 𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀
Such as PayPal, eBay, Boots card, Library, Tesco etc
𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 & 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱
This is usually an easy one by giving them a call and answering a few security questions. However, some will require a copy of your MC
𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀
This is advised as if you get locked out of your account and try to reclaim this with the platform, they will usually ask to see a form of ID to prove it is really you

𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝗽:
Ask to purchase another so you have 𝘛𝘞𝘖 𝘔𝘈𝘙𝘙𝘐𝘈𝘎𝘌 𝘊𝘌𝘙𝘛𝘐𝘍𝘐𝘊𝘈𝘛𝘌𝘚, in case one gets lost when sending it off to various places for your name change
