Today’s beautiful ceremony took place in the gorgeous barn at Skylark. And even though the sun didn’t shine the way I wanted it to for my lovely couple, everything was just perfect. ❤️

I have found the writing and presenting of ceremonies comes naturally, and I love every second- but the social media and marketing- what a steep learning curve! There I was thinking I’d just portray my stylish art deco inspired brand… my posts come across more like they’ve been created by an epileptic cat! 😬

With land for burial becoming scarce and cremation being less environmentally friendly, this ‘water cremation’ seems like a great choice. Much like cremation your loved ones will still be partially returned to you (which is part of the healing process, having something of them to let go of) and so feels similar to a cremation. Already around the World, this is being offered as an option in our country later this year.

The process, used in the US and Canada, will be available later this year through Co-op Funeralcare.

So this summer I have taken the plunge and dropped a day at school to give me time to become the celebrant I want to be! It’s a hard slog starting from scratch - and in an already flooded pool, finding my customer base is tricky to say the least. However, I believe that a little like internet dating, you will know within minutes ( maybe less) of meeting a celebrant whether they compliment you. We are not all the same! I write bespoke and entertaining ceremonies and bring a light humour to what can be a serious and starchy ceremony - and most of all, I listen and write the story that you want your loved ones to hear.

I had a baby naming day for my children and named trusted adults that I wished to guide my children in the absence of me. It was 22 years ago, and looked upon as really alternative not to have a christening - but due to my upbringing in the Middle East I felt I wanted my children to find their own beliefs and didn’t want to assume their Christianity. I muddled through that day but now a great celebrant can bring that ceremony to life and make it relevant and meaningful to the family and friends of the new child.
