Our Story
Established in 1954, Danckerts have been a part of Wednesbury for a long time! Originally a greengrocers, selling fresh fruit, veg, fish and poultry, the business has grown and changed over the years. Flowers have always been an integral part of the business, but certainly over the past 40 or so years, they have been a very important part. We have also been proud members of Interflora for around 15 years, enabling us to send flowers and gifts even further afield! With the growth of the supermarkets and discount stores, we made the decision over 10 years ago to concentrate solely on the floral side of the business, letting go of the fresh produce, which at the time, was quite a wrench, as it had been where our roots had come from. (Excuse the pun there!)
Originally started by Alf and Margaret in 1954, it has remained a family run business all along, with sons, Peter and Philip managing the shop(s) as well. Since then , Alf and Margaret have retired, and Peter has moved on to pastures new, and the shop is now run by Phil and his team of florists. Over the years, many staff have come and gone, one in particular, Ray was with us for over 30 years, and was always popular with the customers! He had some health issues back in 2009, and unfortunately had to retire, but is still alive and well in West Bromwich!
Please take a look through some of our photos in the “photos” section, in particular the “Good Old Days” album, which has many old pictures from way back when...some happy memories too! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Phil and the team.
