**Unearthing History at TBV Axemasters: The Royal Ordnance Depot, Weedon Bec**

Did you know that our axe-throwing venue in Weedon Bec is housed on the site of the historic Royal Ordnance Depot? 🪓 This remarkable location, steeped in over 200 years of military history, adds a layer of depth and intrigue to every visit.

**A Historic Gem from 1804**
The Royal Ordnance Depot was constructed around 1804, during the Napoleonic Wars, as a secure site for training cavalry, and the stores for storing gunpowder, weaponry, and other military supplies. Its strategic location, with access to both the canal and railways, made it a vital hub for distributing munitions to Britain’s armed forces. It was specifically chosen to be as far away from the coast as possible to avoid attacks from Napoleon.

During World War II, the stores were covered in camouflage and used to house anti-aircraft shells and other ammunition, playing a key role in the nation’s defense.

Today, the original architecture and layout of the depot remain a powerful testament to its military past. The history museum at the depot is worth a visit to learn more about this amazing site.

**Unearthed Treasures**

Over the years, remnants of history have been uncovered around the depot, including old guns and artifacts reclaimed from the nearby canal and grounds.

These discoveries connect us to the depot’s rich past and serve as a reminder of its enduring legacy.

Good morning, mighty shieldmaidens and brave warriors! Today, we continue our journey through the **12 Days of Viking Christmas** with another fascinating insight into how the Vikings celebrated this festive season. And trust us—you’ll want to stay tuned because we’ve got a **BIG announcement tomorrow**, including a **whopping discount** that’s perfect for those looking to unleash their inner Viking. **Did you know?**
