Due to expansion of our training yard, we are looking for a General Manager to be responsible for managing the yard team and the daily care of the horses in training. You will be working closely with our horse trainers and office to ensure the efficient running of our busy yard.
Your Horsemanship has an excellent reputation for starting young horses and solving behavioural issues. We have around 100 horses a year coming to us for residential horse training, and we also run a busy schedule of lessons, course days and camps from our centre in Goudhurst, Kent.
The role will include;
๐ดWorking closely with the office and horse trainers, and managing staff to facilitate the smooth running of the yard
๐ดLiaising and coordinating the diary with, clients, vets, farriers and other equestrian professionals
๐ดOrganising horse training bookings
๐ดManaging the care of horses in for training
๐ดAll yard duties
๐ดStock taking and purchasing (feed, bedding, veterinary etc)
๐ดGenerating horse reports for clients
๐ดAssisting with our online subscription service
๐ดAssisting at events on the yard (camps, course days), and occasional off-site events (e.g demonstrations)
๐ดThis is not a ridden position
About you;
๐You are an experienced equine Groom who is passionate about their profession and are looking for a new challenge
๐You are computer literate with an interest in office management
๐You are interested in, willing to learn and adapt to the Your Horsemanship way of handling horses
๐You enjoy liaising with clients and working as part of a small, busy team
๐You have exceptional high standards and understanding of horse care
๐You are proactive, logistical and forward thinking in order to deliver enhanced ways of working to improve efficiency, service and standards
Application requirements;
๐You have 4+ years experience working with horses in a yard role
๐At least 2+ years experience of working on a busy professional competition (of any discipline)/ training/ racing yard
๐You will have good communication skills, both written and verbal and you are computer literate and able to use worksheets
๐You are confident managing other staff
๐You have exceptional standards and understanding of horse care
๐You are confident handling young, uneducated (and often spirited!) competition horses, including colts
๐You are confident treating minor ailments and injuries
You are capable of demanding, physical work
Location
Goudhurst, Kent
Hours;
This is a full-time position, but there could be some flexibility for the right person.
5 days a week 7.30-4.30pm (with an hourโs lunch break), to include one weekend day (there is some flexibility with days/ hours). 28 days holiday

Start late March 2024/ early April
Salary and Perks;
From ยฃ26,000 per annum
This is a live out position, but we will help to find local accommodation if required
