What are remembrance seeds? They are a lovely gift for every person who attends a funeral service, a packet of seeds to plant when at home in memory of a loved one. Friends & Family can watch them grow into something beautiful. The name of your loved one is printed on the front and they can be given out after a funeral service as a token of love to take home.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 will take place from 13 to 19 May, on the theme of “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. The Mental Health Foundation started Mental Health Awareness Week in 2001 to increase public understanding of mental health and how mental health problems can be prevented.

After years of being ignored, hidden away, and not being spoken about, Mental Health Awareness Week makes sure that mental health remains at the centre of the public conversation. It has contributed to government policy changes and provides a significant red-letter day when mental health charities throughout the UK can fundraise to support their work.

Above all, it keeps up the pressure for change so that we collectively prioritise the UK’s mental health, prevent mental health problems and take action to make sure we live in a society that values and promotes good mental health for all.

The Drawing Rooms, West Malling have created this uplifting new card featuring the beauty of the great outdoors. Our hope is that this will be a lovely card to send to someone, whether it be as a lovely greetings card to a friend, a letter to someone you don’t see often or someone in your community who may be struggling with poor mental health. Or you can just pop it in a frame and put it up in your home! Regardless of how you decide to enjoy this card, 100% of the profits from sales of this card will be donated to local charities, groups and organisations that directly support families and individuals who want to return to positive mental health. Our hope is that the gesture of receiving this card will show someone that they are important. That they are loved. And that there is somebody thinking of them and wanting to support them. This year has been a very good year and we have gone from strength to strength, which has enabled us to explore some wonderful new avenues in the new year. We have a variety of art classes, group classes, 1:1 tuition, children’s classes and courses available that make fantastic gifts for loved ones and these vouchers can be used for classes or towards a course. Can you believe it was three years ago we first opened? That time has flown by and it has been filled with interesting challenges. The team at Viners on the Hill have grown from strength to strength and we have a great little business now! Thought I'd share some of the drawings from this weeks Life Drawing Workshop. What a great night! There were some really expressive designs and some challenging poses along with great company, great music and a fantastic model. Can we do this every night please?! Thanks so much to our model @richardmartinmodel and to each and everyone of our lovely guests. You were so much fun to hang out with! I am frequently asked how long it takes to complete a painting or what is involved. Whilst they are all different I often glaze layer upon layer of colours using a combination of washes, techniques and details. This timelapse shows the process for this rose painting.

A note about workshops and Christmas! 🎄

Had a rare few moments in the studio yesterday for a little bit of creative time. Turning out some gorgeous ‘dark’ designs ready for #exhibitiontwo which will be beginning next month. In light of the fact Halloween is approaching and the evenings are drawing in I have taken the opportunity to create the ‘dark’ series that so many of you have been requesting. (Speaking of Halloween have you booked onto my SFX workshop yet? 🤨). So I thought I’d show you the #timelapse of #darkfaerie being created here in hyper speed. The application is so satisfying to watch. And I have been asked many times to creat a workshop for this technique.
