Birth announcement 🎉

Our little Lily decided to make an early appearance on Sunday 6th August at 34+6 weeks weighing 2742 grams.

Labour was fast and she had a short time in the nicu but mostly treated at my bedside.

She’s come so far already! she’s tiny but mighty and doing absolutely amazing!

She was 3 weeks old on Sunday and we still are establishing feeding and gaining weight with support from midwifes at home 💗

Alfie is completely in love with her and enjoys smelling her feet.🙈

Unfortunately, I've had to bring maternity leave forward due to problems with dexterity in my fingers due to swelling and I'm unable to stand for more than 10 minutes without pain in my hips and back. Hopely we won't wait too much longer for our little girl to arrive.

So it's goodbye for now and I'm planning to be back late spring 2024.

Get ready to learn some fascinating facts about the humble dandelion! 🌼

Did you know that the dandelion is the only flower that represents the sun, moon, and stars? The yellow flower represents the sun, the puff ball represents the moon, and the dispersing seeds resemble the stars. And if that's not impressive enough, every part of the dandelion is useful: root, leaves, flower. It can be used for food, medicine, and dye for coloring.

Up until the 1800s, people would pull grass out of their lawns to make room for dandelions and other useful "weeds" like chickweed, malva, and chamomile. And the name "dandelion" comes from the French word "dent de lion," meaning "lion's tooth," referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves. 🌿

But it's not just humans who appreciate the dandelion's versatility. Animals such as birds, insects, and butterflies consume the nectar or seed of the dandelion. And dandelions have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant! Plus, dandelion seeds are often transported away by a gust of wind, traveling like tiny parachutes and often carried as many as 5 miles from their origin.

But the dandelion's usefulness doesn't end there. It can also be used in the production of wine and root beer, and the root of dandelion can be used as a substitute for coffee. 🍷☕

Despite all its amazing qualities, dandelions are often considered pesky weeds that need to be eradicated from lawns. But did you know that if you mow dandelions, they'll grow shorter stalks to spite you? And dandelions are, quite possibly, the most successful plants that exist, masters of survival worldwide. 💪

So next time you see a dandelion, take a moment to appreciate its many wonderful qualities and consider letting it stick around a little longer in your garden. And remember, every little bit counts when it comes to creating a more sustainable and diverse ecosystem! 🌱

Just one of many funeral wreaths I've made this year.

This one was for a very much loved father who was a navy man in his younger years. Family requested yellows and blues with a mix of sea shells. I did my best to get these colours.

The sea shells were collected by myself and Alfie. I always like to add something local to my arrangements if it's the Pittosporum from our garden or the shells.

All flowers were from a British grower in Cornwall and imported was the eucalyptus baby blue and Oxypetalum.

💋 Its that time of year again I start to think of Valentines Day. 💋

After last year success of my ‘No Red Roses' valentine's day bouquets and hatboxes. I'm thrilled to say I will be offering the same. 💜💚

Why are many florists offering no red roses ?

Well, often all the red roses have been imported fand with the rise in cost of living many flower growers who use heated greenhouses have reduced their stock available this year and an increase in prices and this reflects the high costs of each red rose. These flowers are often covered in chemicals to ensure they last longer than normal time to endure traveling half way around the world.

Instead, I prefer a naturally grown seasonal British flowers which reflects our beautiful spring season. 💚

This year I am offering:
💋 Seasonal Wraps from £25, collection only.
💋 Medium sized arrangement in an eco vases, many glass and colours of vases available. Prices start at £35.
💋 Floral Hatbox, perfect as a compact arrangement. Prices start at £35. Available in kraft boxes only.

Collection available from Bleadon Mill and delivery available. Delivery limited as Alfie is home due to half term.

Just pop me a message through the link above or through the WhatsApp. I do request full payment on ordering. 👩‍👦

As I've lots of new followers. I though I would share my story of how I go into floristry and developed my passion for funeral flowers. 💚

Well, My entire life I’ve gravitated towards anything creative. It gives me joy to be able to take something that never existed and bring it to reality, anything from scrapbooking, embroidery, quilting and the list goes on.

In 2019 my floral journey began when pmy grandfather passed away. I was raised by my grandparents and over time I’ve lost them both. Nan was the first in 2014, I will always remember her beautiful stargazer white lilies at her funeral which were then made my a local florist in my hometown. However, these traditional funeral flowers did not say ‘Nanny’ to me at all, she loved bright colour flowers and felt impersonal. I always wondered if I can create anything like that. However, at that time in my life my whole life was completely different and this though was forgotten over time.

Everything changed went my dear old gramps passed away. My step mother and me decided we were going to create our first ever flower arrangements for his funeral. So the night before his funeral, we had the help and support of a close family friend to make up two arrangements. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing, my choice and colour of flowers could of been better. I lacked foliage which I have become a great lover of all the different textures and smells of foliages’. But I was so proud of what I had achieved.

A few nights later, I applied for my first floristry course, ‘just for fun' at my local college and did every type of these as I could. I’ve continued on to learn from courses such as environmentally friendly wedding and funeral flowers, sustainable floristry, city and guides certificate and award level 2 floristry. Every Thursday night I am working towards my level 3 floristry award.

❤️ ELF ON THE SHELF ❤️

Who’s ready for the elf to return to santa?? 🙋‍♀️

I have to admit that I low-key love our sensory friendly elf on the shelf. 💚

Basil has been loved by Alfie and I think Alfie will miss their little chats together. In our house, touching the elf is ok but then must cover him in magic dust so he can move again.

❄ All ready for Bleadon and Lympsham Markets tomorrow. ❄

I've got everything packed in the car for the market tomorrow.

I've managed to get my hands on some natural coloured sea urchin shells which will be coming to the markets tomorrow. Only 6 of these brightly coloured shells available. Unfortunately the price of these are higher than my usual ones as the shells cost a lot more. But lots of my normal shades of pinks, white and greens shells each one is unique 🐚

I've got 15 fresh wreaths and a dozen of door swags coming to market with me. All are made from sustainable moss from norfolk and 100% British foliage from Cornwall. You can either buy one from the market or i am taking order for another week and thats it.

I'm bringing my sample of Christmas table centrepiece for everyone to see and if you would to pre order for Christmas week. And flower orders welcome too. Just have a chat with me about what you would like.

I've got a lovely bundle of flowers in one of my eco vases ready to be raffle off, at 50p a ticket. And will be drawn by Alfie once I get home. We can deliver on Sunday to your door or chosen person address x

See everyone at Bleadon (09.30 to 12.30) and Lympsham (2 to 6pm).
