Accompanist – Treble Clef Choir Weybridge, Surrey.

Following the relocation of our accompanist after 11 years, Treble Clef Ladies’ Choir (Weybridge Surrey) are seeking to appoint a new accompanist for September 2024.

We are a friendly and welcoming group of ladies who enjoy coming together to sing and make music. Membership stands at around 50 and we meet every Monday evening at St James’ Church Hall, Weybridge, 7.30 – 9.30pm. Our repertoire consists of show tunes, classical, folk and jazz, including some challenging 4-part harmony arrangements. This year Treble Clef celebrates its 35th anniversary and its third year with Emily Leather as our Musical Director – info on our website trebleclefchoir.org.uk Rehearsals are fun and relaxed, yet we work hard and are proud of our high level of performance. We perform at least 3 full concerts per year and support smaller organisations where possible, such as singing Christmas carols in retirement homes.

We require an accompanist who can commit to most Monday evenings and our full concert schedule. We can accommodate some non-availability at rehearsals by negotiation. The ability to sight read, accompany vocal warm ups and follow a conductor is essential and previous experience of accompanying choirs is desirable. Though not essential, there are also opportunities to perform a piano solo in some concerts.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experience. Applications from students or pianists with less accompanying experience are also encouraged.

Short- listed candidates will be invited to accompany some of a regular rehearsal as part of the selection process.(During July). We offer competitive remuneration to the right person, subject to an annual review. Please send a letter of application and CV to: [email protected] . Closing date for application is 5th July 2024. All candidates will receive an acknowledgement .

The Choir was formed in 1989 and we now have approximately sixty members. We meet every Monday evening at 8pm in the Church Hall of Christ the Prince of Peace, Portmore Way, Portmore Park Road, Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8 JD.

This month two local choirs will be performing major works leading into the Easter period.
If you love a mass but are open to new interpretations then why not come to St Mary’s Oatlands on March 23rd to hear Walton Voices sing Misatango by Martin Palmeri and The Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo - both contemporary composers.

And if you are a fan of Handel’s Messiah come along to St James’s Church, Weybridge on Sunday 24th March at 5pm to hear Promenade Youth Choir (and friends) sing the Hallelujah Chorus - along with other familiar movements.

After participating in a very successful Elmbridge Festival of Choirs evening on Thursday 23rd Feb at St Peter’s Church in Hersham, Treble Clef took the show on the road today and joined many choirs in Beaconsfield to sing in their annual Festival of Choirs. What better way to spend a Saturday……. Music and home made cake 🎶🧁

After our very successful concert to a packed church at St James’ last Friday, we are very proud to announce that the retiring collection amounted to a whopping £1006 for St James’ Foodbank.

I think we are all aware that it is a privilege to be able to be part of a choir, and that our audience is very lucky being able to afford the luxury of tickets for a carol concert. Therefore we can’t thank you enough for donating so generously and hopefully helping those dependent on the foodbank to be able to enjoy a Merry Christmas.

A HUGE thank you to our many loyal and generous supporters. 🙏🎄💕

Ringing in the festive season with a rendition of Ring Out Wild Bells! What a fantastic evening-packed pews, festive readings from our wonderful patron Nerys Hughes and a beautiful piano solo of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah from Lindsey Bridgewater. Hopefully our audience went home filled with festive cheer (as well as mulled wine and mince pies)

Did you know that “Carol of the Bells” is based on a Ukrainian folk chant? It’s called “Shchedryk," which means "bountiful" or "generous.” It is a New Year’s song, which narrates the tale of a little swallow flying into a house to proclaim the abundance and prosperity that the family is going to experience in the coming year.
