What a week it’s been at pie! 🚴‍♀️

We kicked things off with a 60km sportive from Denbies, followed by 500 amazing people walking a marathon around London for charity. Meanwhile, another group took on the challenge of riding from London to Cardiff!

On top of that, our Care Homes looped rides challenge hit five cities, starting in Edinburgh, then on to York, Nottingham, Cardiff, and finally wrapping up with a Brighton to London ride.

From sportives to charity walks to multi-city cycling challenges, it’s been a whirlwind of incredible events. Thinking about doing something memorable with your staff, clients or charity? Drop us a message, we’d love to help make it happen!

1 more day to go! 🚣

The toughest day of the week so far. After a rocky start and changes to the schedule due to poor weather, the crew finally got underway and made it to their penultimate destination, Barry.

A valiant team effort with Craig being supported by Love Island winner and fitness enthusiast Liam Reardon, the reliable former RFU player Rhys Williams and once again one of the event sponsors, Rod Hill from Popin Vehicle Graphics.

With the final day looming we wish them all the best of luck for tomorrow!

Keep an eye out on Velindre Cancer Charity social media accounts for updates on timings if you are in the area and want to cheer them in tomorrow.

They're over halfway there! 🚣 🎶

Today, the crew powered their way into Porthcawl, having rowed an impressive 15 nautical miles (approx. 17 land miles). It was another gruelling stretch on the water, but spirits stayed high thanks to the support of former WRU rugby player Laura Payne, Craig’s good friend Aled, and the ever-present Rhys Williams. Their energy and encouragement kept both morale and momentum strong throughout the day.

With just two more days remaining in this epic challenge, the finish line is finally within reach, and that thought alone will be lifting their spirits tonight.

If you're nearby, come show your support by waving them off from Porthcawl, Newton Bay tomorrow at 1:00 PM or cheer them in at the finish line in Barry Dock (next to the lifeboat station/Jackson Bay) between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.

Please note: All timings are approximate and may vary slightly depending on conditions.

Day 2 of rowing complete ✅

Today, Craig Maxwell was joined once again by Rhys Williams and one of the events sponsors Rod Hill, from Popin Vehicle Graphics. The crew powered through 12 nautical miles (around 14 land miles), setting off from Port Eynon and arriving in Swansea under heavy skies and battling choppier waters. Unlike Day 1, there were no dolphins to guide them, just sheer determination and grit.

After a demanding stretch on the oars, Craig declared 'it is much tougher than I had expected'.

A well-earned rest is on the cards before they take on Day 3, which will see them pushing onward to Porthcawl.

The journey continues! 🚣‍♂️

It’s been a beautiful and sunny day for our rowers. Today Craig Maxwell has been joined by rugby legends Lee Byrne and Rhys Williams.

Setting off bright and early after 07:00 from the picturesque harbour town of Tenby, the crew have powered their way to Port Eynon. Today’s leg covers a demanding 19 nautical miles (approximately 22 miles), with strong winds and currents adding to the 6 hours of non-stop rowing challenge.

Part of the journey was guided by some unexpected (and very welcome) companions- a playful pod of dolphins! 🐬 Their appearance brought smiles and a boost to morale as the team forged ahead.

This epic effort is part of Craig’s ambitious mission to raise £250,000 in support of the expansion of QuicDNA Max.

Today marks the beginning of Craig Maxwell’s next big challenge! An epic 5-day row from Tenby to Cardiff. That’s around 72 nautical miles (83 miles) of rowing along the beautiful (but unpredictable!) Welsh coast! 🛶

Each leg of the journey sees Craig joined by familiar faces from the world of rugby and TV, including Rhys Williams, Lee Byrne, Chris Jones, and Liam Reardon. Together, they'll battle blisters, waves, and wild weather to carry the Investec Champions Cup Final match ball all the way to the Principality Stadium for the big game on Saturday 24 May 🏉

So far, Craig’s efforts have helped raise a staggering £1.6 million! This year, he’s rowing to support the launch of QuicDNA Max, an incredible new blood test that speeds up detection of late-stage lung cancer. The goal is to raise £250,000 to help fund its expansion.

🎥 Check out this training day video (complete with sunshine – a rare treat they won’t always get on the water!).
