My name is Debbie and I am the florist behind The Northern Flower Garden. I offer a variety of flower and wreath workshops throughout the year which I design to be accessible by all but also as an opportunity for you to build your knowledge and skills around floristry. 🩷 The hellebore, often called the "winter rose," is a captivating flower that defies the cold, blooming from late winter to early spring.

With its elegant, shy, nodding petals in shades ranging from creamy white and soft pink to deep purples and greens, it brings a touch of magic to the garden during the year's quietest months.

Known for its resilience and evergreen foliage, the hellebore symbolises serenity and hope, making it a cherished choice for shaded borders and woodland settings.

I love the Hellebore and I have chosen this to be my flower for January as its understated beauty and hardiness make it a true gem in any winter garden.

Maybe we will find some Hellebores in our winter flower workshops...

Although I don’t hold too well with resolutions, I tend to break them far too quickly, I do love the idea of a fresh start. And what better opportunity to try something new.

👀 Here's a sneaky peek at our Winter White Flowers Workshop poster which will be going up at our National Trust venues shortly.

White is a perfect colour for this time of year as it illuminates those short, dark winter days 🤍

On the 24th January we will be arranging a selection of fresh white flowers in a crisp glass vase using a sustainable grid mechanic to hold them in place at Crook Hall Gardens in Durham.

Well...

I have finally managed to find my way out of a studio full of spruce, conifer and all the Christmassy gubbins 🎄

A bit sad really, saying goodbye to the wreaths for another year, but I am very pleased to be organising for my Christmas Table Flowers now 😀

We are at Souter Lighthouse next Saturday 21st December from 1-3 where we will be bringing the flowers for your Christmas table. Let us gather the ingredients and you turn up for a festive afternoon of arranging ☺️
