🌾 Here we are, creeping through September and Harvest is on the way. It’s a fundamental part of our seasonal calendar so I thought it would be worth talking about what it means.
Traditionally, Harvest is the time of year when farmers gather their crops after months of growing. It is a season of celebration, gratitude, and community and we mark this with Harvest Festivals. We will all remember these from our school days where we would share the abundance of food with others.🍎
Personally, Harvest is also about noticing nature at her most generous. Hedgerows are full of berries and our gardens are rich with warm autumnal colours, which feel comforting as our summer fades. 🍂
In floristry, Harvest inspires us to create designs that reflect all of the above. Arrangements that are full of food, texture, colour and abundance – think dahlias, sunflowers, berries, grasses, autumn leaves and even fruits from the orchard. 🧡
Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing more about what Harvest means to me as a florist, and how we’ll be celebrating it together at my upcoming Autumn Workshops so keep an eye out, I’d love for you to come and celebrate the season with me! 👀
What does Harvest make you think of?
🍂 The changing colours?
🍂 The smells of autumn?
🍂 Or maybe a favourite seasonal tradition?
💬 I’d love to know!
