✨ Spotlight on Crook Hall Gardens ✨

For a perfect day out in Durham, Crook Hall Gardens has it all with over 700 years of history, endless botanical beauty, and a sense of calm just minutes from the busy city centre. 🌳

With a history spanning a medieval hall, a Jacobean manor and a Georgian town house Cook Hall has, over time, become the backdrop to an amazing Gardeners world. 🤗

The gardens are like a series of themed “rooms” which have emerged over time from the Shakespeare Garden to the Cathedral Garden each with its own character.
One of my favourites has to be the Cathedral Garden, the view across to Durham Cathedral always takes me back!

And that's not all, there is a maze, most beautiful in autumn, an orchard and a moat pool with it's water lilies which is teeming with wildlife in summer and a wonderful place to just sit...

Crook Hall Gardens is a unique place and one of my favourite venues to host our flower and wreath workshops. When you book a place, you not only get the pleasure of our workshops but also the opportunity to explore this wonderful place. If you haven’t been yet, I can’t recommend it enough. 💚

And the best part? Our partnership with the national trust has brought us a brand new refreshments package with crafted drinks and bakes provided by the cafe at Crook Hall Gardens, all included in your workshops.

🤗 Now Autumn is in full swing, do you fancy something a little bit different and everlasting?

I have organised my brand new Dried Flower Seascape Workshop at Souter Lighthouse for the 15th November to give you just that. 🌾

Take a break from the golds and the early signs of Christmas glitter and create an elegant, long-lasting arrangement with sustainable dried materials and grasses, styled with a soft, bleached ‘seaside’ vibe. 🌊

It's been a bit crazy recently, what with Christmas workshops, Autumn Workshops, Christmas again...

I would now like to take it down a notch and bring us back to the present with our Autumn Wreath workshop 🍁

Here's a throwback picture of past autumn wreaths made in our workshops and we are bringing this back to Crook Hall Gardens for 2025. Think fresh foliage, dried elements, berries, pinecones and oodles of texture 🥰

📍So, we are at Crook Hall Gardens National Trust next Saturday, 11th October and we start at 11am. A wreath can take time to build so allow yourself up to 3 hours or so.

🎟 Tickets are £55 per person and this includes crafted hot drinks and bakes from the National Trust along with everything you will need to complete your autumn wreath.

🍂 Join me at Gibside this autumn for a creative celebration of the season!

On Saturday 4th October at 11am, we’ll be gathering for an Autumn Harvest Arrangement Workshop — the perfect chance to slow down, get hands-on, and make something truly beautiful.

Together, we’ll create a stunning, sustainable design using moss and chicken wire as our base, tucked into a basket. Then comes the fun part, layering in seasonal foliage, autumn blooms, dried grasses, and even apples 🍎 (a little nod to Gibside’s orchards!).

It’s all about capturing the rich colours and textures of autumn in a relaxed, friendly setting. 🍁

Exciting News from The Northern Flower Garden❗

😀 I am delighted to share that we are now officially partnering with the National Trust! This comes after a good few years of workshops, working together and developing a shared love of sustainable creativity which is rooted in the natural world.

This means you’ll now find our workshops at not one, but three beautiful venues:

✨ Crook Hall Gardens, Durham
✨ Souter Lighthouse, Whitburn

I want to say a huge thank you for all of your support in helping us reach this milestone — it really means a lot to us. 💚

Our workshops will continue in the same relaxed, creative style you know and love, but now with more opportunities to reach new people, explore new settings, and contribute to the seasonal themes and celebrations that the National Trust do so well.
