What a day it was for Tarryn and Jason a couple of weeks ago at the fabulous Chedington. A day filled with endless laughter, champagne, a glorious sunset, and one heck of a party. So much fun, and a joy to photograph.

Great to work with some of my favourite suppliers again, and a big shout out to Melanie from Bellissimo who made everything run like clockwork, and was working hard when I arrived, and still going when I left.

This is my dad, who sadly passed away at the end of April, just as I was beginning the wedding season.

It is only when someone passes, that you really look through all your photos for the best moments, and perhaps wish there were more. Naturally you look to wedding photos, not just as a momentous event, but also because it’s perhaps the one life event where you have a professional photographer.

He was never one to smile for a photo, yet this one taken at a wedding, my wedding, encapsulated everything about him. It is the defining image. The value of this one image alone far outweighs whatever the cost of the photography might have been.

It’s one of the reasons that I always look for parents and grandparents at weddings, and try to create images that are genuine and show their true personality. For I know these are the images that will be sought after and cherished the most in the future.

The photos of your wedding are not for the day itself, but for the many days after.

So take more photos. Always. The value of each precious image will far outweigh the effort it took to take your camera out of your pocket.

It was my dad who bought me my first camera when I was 5 years old, and always encouraged me to be a professional photographer, taking great pride in following my journey. And for this I will be forever grateful. Rest in peace Dad.

Jess and Alastaire, at the absolutely stunning West Barn Lodge, which has become one of my favourite new venues. Beautiful buildings, a rustic yet contemporary party barn, and views across the Wiltshire Downs that are incredible, and I love how the venue blends into the surrounding meadows with no fences, so you really feel the wide open space is all part of it, design genius and create love wherever you look from it’s creators Barney and Pippa. I can’t wait to be back here very soon, and if you are looking for a rustic yet contemporary venue with wide open space, then West Barn Lodge is definitely one for the shortlist!

Looking forward to shooting Alycia and Hol’s big day tomorrow at St Audries Park! If it’s anything like the fun we had for this shoot at Burrow Mump (what a name, and a place!) a few weeks ago, it’s going to be an incredible day!

I’m delighted to find out I’ve won another Story Award! This was one of my favourite weddings last year for Rich and Rob , with Watson their black Labrador being an integral part of the family, I really wanted to capture his side of the story too, and boy, did he have fun watching his humans get married! Whatever makes your day unique, I’ll make sure it is covered. From just under 10,000 images submitted across our Reportage Award (for the best individual captures) and Story Award (for a series of 15 – 20 images of a single wedding) entries, the judges for this round chose just 25 Story Awards. Story awards are much harder to achieve that individual awards as the set of images need to be really cohesive and tell the story. So I’m pretty chuffed with that!

That first look, when a father or mother see their daughter in her dress for the first time, is a powerful and significant moment. As a father myself, I know when the moment comes for me in around 15 years time, it will be an emotional one, and one bursting with pride. I’ll no doubt be a blubbering mess!

So for me as a documentary photographer, capturing this moment is critical, and it is challenging to capture both reactions of a fleeting moment, which is where careful planning comes in, looking for opportunities to tell both sides of the story, but without controlling the moment in any way.

This is where mirrors can really help, to allow me to see both sides of the story, whilst keeping a respectful distance. This is their moment, not one for direction or intrusion. There are no second chances, there can be no re-run, this is a decisive moment, which I know I have to get right first time, every time.

Not a bad way to start 2025! Great news finding I have made it into the Top 10 wedding photographers in the UK and IE with for the 3rd year in a row! Consistency is something I always strive for, so that’s that box ticked for last year, and a high bar to aim for as always in 2025! Thank you to and the judges, and of course, the amazing couples I have worked with for entrusting me with their memories, and for 2025 couples, the year is now and I cannot wait to get going!

Happy Christmas one and all!

The perfect wedding to look back on today, when I was incredibly fortunate to return to Lapland earlier this year for Natalia and Topi’s wedding. The coldest wedding I have ever photographed at -24 degrees C, but oh, the light! In the land of the midnight sun during winter, it only appears for a few hours, and sunrise and sunset merge into one.

The perfect ceremony at the Northern Lights hut, with an appearance from The Aurora just as everyone was about to head home, a wedding experience I will never ever forget!

“Your story, beautifully told”

Hi, I’m Robin, a photographic storyteller based in Dorset, England, covering weddings wherever your heart takes you.

You write the script for your day, and I carefully and quietly observe and capture every moment, every detail, to tell your story exactly as you remember it. Moments matter.

I love beautiful light, it is like a magnet to me, and will always seek the best opportunities to capture you at your natural best on what is the most momentous day of your life.

I’d love to hear about your plans, and tell your story!
