Positively swooning at the flowers we are cutting at the moment, and if you visit us for one of the sessions we are hosting in the new studio at the farm in September you too will get to swoon. Swipe to see the ducks also living the dream (although we can't guarantee they will make an appearance for our September guests!)

Our sessions at the farm start again next week. And - heads up - these will only be happening once each in 2025 (dates to follow), so with limited places available do consider booking for this year if you can. Here's what we have to look forward to:

We've added a few new dates to our 2024 autumn workshop schedule, which means the next few months are packed with various sessions. As a result, we can't repeat some of the workshops and demos that took place earlier this year until later in 2025. So, if you can't wait until then, the recordings of our 2024 sessions listed below are available to buy between now and 31st August.

Place your order as if you were booking a place on the workshop and we will send you the recording (and notes, if applicable) on Monday 2nd September.

From time to time it’s important to introduce oneself on Insta so hello! I’m Georgie Newbery and I’m a flower farmer, florist, author and teacher based at Common Farm Flowers between fashionable Bruton and up and coming Wincanton in sunny Somerset. In the summer my bread and butter is supplying masses of flowers for as well as working with the high end suppliers in my area like and good neighbours like as well as private clients whose names naturally I won’t share. Throughout the year we hold loads of online demos. In the spring, summer and autumn we hold workshops and tours here at the farm. Of all the teaching I do it is the which gives me most satisfaction - today I’ve heard from three of my mentees with positive news all round. Meanwhile I have a lot of fun with my YouTube channel where I have a very jolly Club (new clip about today’s trip to is up for Club members - it has eight minutes exclusive content for clubbers, no ads and will be published for everyone else in 24 hours time - so if you can’t wait do join the Club where we have a great deal of fun and just plain more of everything.) I am kept company through the day by a border terrier called Teacake and the slugs here are controlled by three very funny Pekin ducks named Cleo, Ricki and Emma after the mermaids in H2O (the kids insisted!) I am married to the elusive Fabrizio and my right hand woman is . I drink black coffee before 11am, love a glass of fizzy wine, and it is my ambition to arrange my life so that I profitably write books in the mornings and garden for fun (and maybe a little profit too 😘) in the afternoons. Our dahlia crop for this year is almost about to pop! How are yours growing? I'm excited to start using the flowers in our floristry very soon hopefully.

And with that in mind, we've added a new online demo to the website. Dahlias can be tricky to use in floristry so our dahlia hand tie demo will include plenty of top tips for using dahlias for all floristry, as well as demonstrating the ‘florists’ twist’ used to make a hand tie and how to wrap in an aqua pack for delivery, to customers or friends.

With time for questions, and tips for different varieties, I'll help you take your dahlias from your garden, with a discussion on their particular demands when cutting and conditioning them, and put these gorgeous blooms centre stage in your cut flower arrangements.

(If you want more help with growing dahlias, I've an online workshop for that too, and I've also bundled the demo and workshop together for those of you who'd like to do both, which is available at a slightly reduced price.)

Some of our perennials, looking beautiful even in this incessant July rain!

We've found ourselves more reliant than usual on our perennials this year, due to the relentless slugathon that many of us are experiencing in the UK.

Many of you have asked if we are doing a repeat of our online perennials for cutting workshop that we ran earlier this year and sadly we can't manage to fit it into our Autumn schedule. So instead we are making the workshop recording available for the next few days (until Thursday this week - 18th July).

If this challenging growing year for annuals has got you thinking that a few more perennials might be what you need then do take a look at the session and you will hopefully find it really helpful.

Sadly we can't squeeze another date for this workshop into the schedule this year but we know that some of you are thinking about adding to your perennials collections, after what has been a fairly challenging growing year (rain, slugs, more rain, cool conditions etc)
