☕🥐We are delighted to be bringing you Wi******ers first People, Planet Pastry event, just before Wi******er Green Week gets going! 💚

Following on from the success of Wi******er People, Planet, Pint in recent years we wanted to bring you something at the other end of the day.

Open to anyone concerned about the climate crisis in Wi******er (and beyond), we'll be in the Wi******er School of Art café for a drop in people, planet, pastry meet.

We'll be there from 8.30am - 10.30am on Wednesday 11 September.

This will be your chance to meet like minded people, create connections and find out a little bit more about WinACC and Wi******er Green Week.

These 3 party kits are out partying in Wi******er this weekend - which means my toddler can now reach the light switch again without going to get the stool! 🤣

Party kits are a really easy way to avoid unnecessary waste and sooo much better than a soggy paper plate.

💚 Climate Meet Ups 💚

This month I’ve attended two climate group meet ups in Wi******er…

💚 The first was a People Planet Pint event. This is an informal meet up in a local Wi******er pub. Many people who attended work in sustainability but it’s also just for people who are interested in what changes we can make to help our planet. I enjoyed some great chats. The topics aren’t restricted to climate - I did find out about an interesting old railway walk so it’s also a great opportunity to share local knowledge. 💚 Secondly I took my toddler along to the Crafting The Future session at the library today organised by Parents for Future UK. It was an opportunity to chat about climate issues and my toddler enjoyed the biscuits and stickers (pictured!).

New Parents for Future event happening next Friday ☺️

👋🏻 Hi there! We are the recently-formed Hampshire branch of Parents for Future.

Who are PFF Hampshire?

We are a growing group of like-minded parents and carers who are worried about the climate crisis and how it will affect our children’s future.

We run regular meet ups.

We find hope, connection and support being part of a community.

We aim to make meaningful contributions to the climate movement. For us, this looks like running family-friendly coffee mornings, organising events, starting conversations, hosting toy and clothes swaps, signing petitions, sharing book recommendations, emailing our MPs, peacefully protesting, sharing sustainable living tips, being a space for emotional support and more.

The Big Plastic Count starts on Monday - it’s not too late to sign up!

This initiative by Everyday Plastic and Greenpeace UK aims to collect data on the amount of single-use plastic used by households across the UK. This evidence will be used to persuade our government, supermarkets and manufacturers to reduce the amount of unnecessary plastic used, particularly for food packaging.

And this year the data will also be going to the big UN conference on The Global Plastic Treaty happening in April.

As part of my work with I ran a campaign last year which gave 3 primary schools the opportunity to win a complete party kit.

After 9 months of work with 345 nominated received for 280 schools, the 3 party kits are off to their new homes today.

That’s 660 reusable items which are on their way to help more communities avoid unnecessary waste from single-use items at parties. 💚

And in the spirit of reuse, thanks to ******erblinds for the boxes and several members of “I Need A Whisk” for the packaging. ♻️

HCC are running a survey asking for ideas on how to help more people embrace reuse. 👇

We are particularly looking at how people purchase second-hand items, borrow or rent items instead of buying them, and repair and refill items.
Your feedback will help us to identify where and how the County Council can support reusing items both at a local and national level.
A prize draw to win 1 of 2 Leisure Vouchers worth £50 each will take place after the survey has closed at 11:59 on Sunday 17th September.
