DNYT was established in 2010 when we were chosen to take part in National Theatre Connections and we launched with our older acting company of 20 actors.
Fast forward 14 years (😳) and we now run 6 groups a week specialising in acting and musical theatre and work with over 130 children and young people aged from 4-21 🤩
Finding a home to run our workshops and productions from is the reason The Nutshell exists - it is amazing to see how far our beautiful building and programme has come over the past 5 years!

The King of Nothing • Half Term Theatre Wi******er
Come and join us this October half-term for another, fantastic puppet show: The King of Nothing 👑
King Reginald, ruler of the Kingdom of Fa La La, likes to keep in style. Closely advised by Bernard the Keep of the Royal Cardigans and Dolores the Keeper of the Royal Trousers, he is always dressed top to toe in the latest clothes from the latest magazines. Meanwhile, Fa La La is in total disarray, with blocked drains and beggars lining the streets.
MONSTRO and Little Angel's latest Puppet Musical is an anarchic re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen's Emperor's New Clothes, in which the characters (and the audience) discover that people can be made to believe ANYTHING. With songs, puppetry, slapstick and more, the two Swindlers (or should we call them "actors"?) will weave their cunning magic on children and adults alike.
