Showcasing our Italian courtyard! With its twinkly lights, olive trees and beautiful stonework, you could be in the middle of Tuscany never mind the heart of the lakes. On a beautiful summer’s evening there really is no better place for your evening food served straight from the street food truck courtesy of . Nestled between the barn and the guest cottages, you can even nip back for a cardigan as the evening gets cooler. Or for a lie down, depending on how the day has panned out so far…🥰😂

Absolutely love these pictures by the super talented . What a day it was! 🤩

I’ve also realised that if you’ve forgotten to bring something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue, then we can help. The new TH defender is 60 years old, you can borrow it for the day and it’s almost blue. More bluey green to be honest, but we’re not going to be put off by a technicality. ✅

So tomorrow is an exciting day.

Apart from it being an epically amazing wedding day, it’s also the day we’re launching the newest and most exciting member of the TH fleet (on land at least)!

Unofficially named Larry, (which is fairly lame although sort of goes with Land Rover), he’s original, he was born in 1958, (series 2), he’s in mint condition and he’s utterly gorgeous. He’s even the same shade of green as the barn doors, which is a happy coincidence!

We did the only decent thing of testing him out with our own children in the boot to see whether they fell out (they didn’t), which just left the tiny admin detail of teaching Tanya how to drive the thing in one day. Lucky for everyone she’s a whiz behind the wheel. 😅

So there we have it. For everything from ferrying you around the estate, to filling with flowers for photos, to filling with fizz for drinks by the lake, we’ve got it covered in proper good old vintage style.

And I cannot WAIT to see the photos, starting with tomorrow!!

😀😀😀😀😃

Sabina and Lucy and their beautiful wedding that was not in the least bit dampened by the great British summer!

We declined their very kind offer to invite George to the festivities, as we decided that even the most enthusiastic of dog foster carers (as these brilliant two are) probably wouldn’t appreciate a giant hairy black and invariably sopping wet dog greeting all of their guests at head height, still he was very flattered to be asked. 🥰🥰🥰

The best day. Congratulations to you both! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Much as though we miss the willow tree, we could never get shots like this before…..so every cloud! 🙃

It’s all go for a same day changeover today, cottages are being cleaned, lawns are being mowed, the barn is being decorated and summer feels like it’s finally here!

Everything in the garden is literally and gloriously rosy!

Very much looking forward to our Open Evening on 14 July so we can show you all! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alex and Chris. A more local yet exotic wedding you cannot imagine.

These epic world travellers were hot off the plane from Malawi (dog in tow!) where they’ve lived and worked for the past few years, yet the sense they were coming home to get married was overwhelmingly wonderful. My hairdresser the day before mentioned that one of her clients was getting married with us the next day. The choir where our 8 year old daughter now sings in Kendal came along to perform during the wedding, as that was the very same choir Alex belonged to when she was growing up here.

We are a family run venue, and family is at the very heart of what we do, so it’s wonderful when the whole community seems as excited as us to be celebrating such a special day. Congratulations Alex and Chris! ❤️❤️❤️

01/05/2024

So. We have news. We are very VERY excited to announce our Summer Open Evening!!! 😀☀️😀

Featuring all of the amazing things we do for our usual Open Weekend in January, namely the tastiest food, the most beautiful cakes, bucket loads of fizz, gorgeous floristry and inspiring décor, but this time we thought we’d try something a bit different….we’re thinking outdoor ceremonies, leaves on trees, flowers in gardens, no blizzards/ice/hailstorms etc….that’s right, we’re switching up the seasons and going all summertime! ☀️☀️☀️

Yes the decision to hold an Open Evening at our busiest time of year may be seen as questionable (!) but we think you NEED to experience the entire venue and grounds in all their summer glory!

We’ll be showcasing the venue in a totally different way at a totally different time of year. Just picture golden hour down at the Boat House, lawn games in the orchard, the gardens bursting with colour, bees buzzing, birds singing, sipping perfectly chilled fizz on the jetty whilst you take it all in, maybe even a paddle in the lake…….

And then there’s the Barn, which literally glows in the evening sun, and which will be full to bursting with inspiration for food, flowers and styling for your special day.

We are so grateful to our fellow suppliers who not only keep agreeing to come back to lend their amazing skills, but who will also be on hand with the TH team to chat through your plans and answer any questions you may have.

So come along and see for yourself, make hay while the sun shines, and maybe, just maybe, you won’t need your coat.

Registration is now OPEN! 🤩🤩🤩

Hazel and Dayle part 2! There are literally so many things I love about these, from the gorgeous landscape picture, to the hand crocheted cactus favours (yes you heard that correctly, Hazel did them all herself with all the spare time you have right before a wedding…😆) to the most amazing cake, not forgetting the matching wellies and cameo from the TH tractor! Love it love it love it. 😊❤️😊❤️😊

Did we mention Town Head has a boat? A really really beautiful boat? Dedicated to making your wedding day absolutely unforgettable.

We’ve just been sent the gallery from Hazel and Dayle’s utterly gorgeous wedding from October, and we couldn’t not share these stunning images.

Obviously, there should only ever be one Princess on a wedding day, but I think we can make an exception when the other one is a bona fide brand new Princess 45 in the form of the magnificent Marguerite.

There were so many beautiful details from this wedding which we will most certainly be sharing, but for now these deserve to be showcased all by themselves.

If you would like to book Marguerite for your own Kate and Leo moment, then just drop us a line and we’ll do the rest. 😊😊😊

A little known fact about me and my secret double life in Mountain Rescue….. shamelessly reposted over here to raise awareness of the team (and fundraising for our new base) but mainly because there’s a stale pot noodle for the member with the most likes. And yes it is a competition. Hop over to the page for a nosey. 😀

A frosty lunchtime dog walk around the estate!

Fun fact. Before the A592 was built, we have a map from 1787 showing that the road from Newby Bridge to Windermere passed right through the estate, and the route is marked by these ancient Scots pines.

A bit of research later….Scots pines grow so fast and stand out so well that they were often planted and used as way markers along the old drovers routes to guide others to a favourite inn or a safe river-crossing.

So TH has had a long history of welcoming weary travellers, and we’re very happy to continue the tradition. 😀

So. We’re not ones to be jumping on the grid very often, but with our Open Weekend coming up I thought you might like to put faces to names.

So this is us! Well, some of us. There is a literal army of other legends doing a zillion other jobs to bring magic and sparkle dust and all of that to your wedding day, but this is a starter for ten.

Left to right you have me (Cheryl), owner and manager, with our two amazing wedding coordinators, Tanya in the middle, and Beth on the end.

These are the ladies who will be there to guide you every step of the way from your very first tour to handing you your bouquet before you walk down the aisle, and they are exceptionally good at what they do. As long as you arrive on the right day and remember your dress, then whatever else happens, there’s not much else they can’t fix.

We and the rest of the team will all be there to welcome you at the Open Weekend armed with a whole lot of information and advice to help you start to plan the most amazing experience EVER. Did we mention there will also be fizz? And food. And music. And a very VERY beautiful venue to explore.

We can’t wait to see you there! 🥳🥳🥳

PS. A big thank you to friend of TH for the most fun and non awkward brand shoot we could have imagined. And rest assured we imagined some fairly horrendously awkward ones.

Town Head in the snow! ❄️❄️❄️

And what an adventure it’s been this weekend. I’m not one for reposting reviews and thank yous, but this is a shout out to our amazing amazing staff.

We had the best wedding in full swing, when the weather closed in and every taxi company cancelled all bookings. 😬🤯😬

Not only did one of our team go and rescue the stranded registrar (whilst Tanya was busy being deputised to stand in just in case), other team members with 4x4s mobilised voluntarily (they weren’t even due to be working) to help us get 60 guests home at the end of the night to various hotels around and about. Even my brother was roped in to help. This through blocked roads, police closures and advice to avoid all travel. That’s not to mention the several stranded motorists, people who’d abandoned their cars and were walking, and the family that walked in off the street unable to get home. (We got them home too).

In fact, the only ones who didn’t make it home were some of those amazing staff (although one took the tractor and got home in that), who then camped out in various locations around site to be there still in good spirits to clear the snow to help everyone out the following morning.

We will only ever be as good as the people we have, and I could not be prouder. 🥰

Also, Congratulations Kirsty and Tom, not only was your day absolutely beautiful, it’s also right is up there with Storm Arwen in the TH book of legendary weddings! 🥳🥂🥳🥂🥳

To all those groomsmen kicking around on a wedding morning with nothing better to do whilst the ladies are getting ready, a brisk 40 minutes (ish) walk from your door and you could be at the top of Gummers How, with the wind in your hair and the world at your feet. 😀

(Don’t then do what I just did and try and turn it into a circular route, you’ll end up up to your knees in bog and bracken and in less of a jolly mood than you headed out in.)

23/11/2023

It’s that time of year again….👀

We are very VERY happy to announce the dates for our 2024 Open Weekend! 🥳🥳🥳

Two entire days. Our one and only mission? To fill the Barn with magic.✨🌟✨

The most beautiful flowers, the most inspirational styling, the most delicious food, and the most amazing opportunity for you to come and see just how you could make this unbelievable space your own.

Our first Open Weekend in 2022 saw 300 guests over the two days. By January 2023 it was over 600. Needless to say we’re stocking the fridge for this one…..

So. This is your official invitation to come along, and to roam free. All the way from the Barn to the cottages to the fabled Beauty Room, through gardens as beautiful as any you are likely to see in the Lakes. All the way down past the Lake View Terrace and the croquet lawn to the shores of the lake itself, where you can look out from the Boat House balcony and imagine just how gorgeous you will look standing at the end of the jetty smack bang in the middle of your very own fairytale. 😍

We’ll all be there, armed to the teeth with information and inspiration in equal measure.

We are also once again extremely lucky to be joined by this amazing bunch of creatives who frankly know this place as well as we do:

We’ll see you there. Exciting times ahead!

More gorgeousness from Lucinda and Mark last week. ❤️

As the proud owner of one twirly whirly girlie myself, it comes as no surprise that I absolutely love this picture. In fact I love kids at weddings full stop. Sparkly headbands, pageboy outfits, pudgy fingers squashing perfectly beautiful bunches of flowers, colouring books at the wedding breakfast. I love it all. Bring on the fruit shoots I say and let’s have more twirling. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Have you ever wondered what a wedding on the terrace would look like?

It doesn’t get any better than this gorgeous ceremony for Lucinda and Mark on Tuesday. There is no more magical an aisle than the route from the Bridal Cottage down through the kitchen gardens with the butterflies flitting around and the bees buzzing. The grounds are magical in every season, but there is something especially weddingy about June.

We absolutely loved everything about this wedding. Lucinda and Mark, you were an absolutely joy from start to finish and we couldn’t be happier for you!

The view of the gardens from the bridal cottage. Did you know that you pass the wishing well on the way up to the barn? The perfect opportunity to make a quick wish on the way to the ceremony, whether it be for a lifetime of love and happiness, sunshine on the day, or just that no groomsmen end up in the lake.🌷🌼☀️
