Eco-wedding favours ~

These days it is so important for us to think about our environment and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible as well as how we effect the world. Having a wedding can make a huge impact to the environment with people travelling, using items that aren’t sustainable or recyclable so it’s best to think about what we can do to reduce the effects. One thing we can look at is favours.

Seeds
Little bags or swatches of floral material filled with seeds or seed card/paper are a great eco-gift.

Plants
Think plants, succulents, herbs! Something, lovely that people can take away with them and re-plant outdoors is great for the environment but can also be doubled up as your wedding décor as well. Putting them as your centrepieces with tags on them for people to help themselves can save money as well as being beautiful!

Soap
There are some great companies that make eco-friendly soap/bath bombs that will make the table smell lovely as well as be a sweet gift to take home.

Food & Drink
Jam, chutney, gin in recycled jars or paper bags filled with homemade chocolates. If having an afternoon tea for your wedding breakfast then the jam can also be used at the wedding itself. What about filling old bottles and fill with oil and herbs, or fill jars with popcorn kernels that people can use at home?

Handmade trinkets
If you are a knitter/sewer/painter then use your talent! Make something people can hang up/use in their homes, drawer fresheners, bird feeders, candles, a postcard sized drawing/painting.

Do your best to use:
Paper bags/paper that can easily be recycled
Recyclable twine/string
Use recycled card/paper when writing your name tags
Reusable tote bags – it’s like to gifts in one!

Dessert tables ~

Dessert tables or candy buffets can work for any events. That's right we don't just talk about weddings here!

*They can be prepped in advance and simply taken out of the fridge.
*There will be something for everyone.
*They can look great and a real WOW factor!
*The table can be planned around your colour scheme or wedding/event theme.
*You can use it as favours/party bag options with paper bags for people to take some goodies home with them.

Remember to speak to your photographer and venue as they will know come fantastic areas to get the perfect shot.

ADVICE TIME
Its About You 💞

Have you forgotten that?
Along the winding path of planning some couples can get a bit lost. The path is blurred by the internets pressures, Pinterests perfection and external opinions and expectations. It isnt that you are getting it wrong (there is no such thing if you are happy!), its just you might be missing an opportunity.

Consider this...
- Does your event express who you are as a couple?
- Could all the elements be copied for another couple?
- When you look back, is it just pretty or is it special for you both too?

If you are keen to represent your story throughout the celebration, here are some ideas to get you going...
~ Stationery - Instead of just your names, could you have an image or sketch of something that's very 'you'?
~ Activities - Can you quiz guests on your hobby or job? Can you introduce them to your fave sport or game? Can you share some funny stories or best recipes?
~ Styling - What does your home look like? What colours do you wear all the time? Keep the venue in mind but reflect your personal styling too.
~ Entertainment - This isnt just a playlist. You can find something like ceilidh's, rock bands, dancers, magicians, morris dancers... you name it! This is a great excuse to treat your guests to something you adore!

Oh and if you are not struggling with the personal touches but are struggling with the "You should have that" type of rhetoric...
! - The day is a celebration of you as a couple, the joining of two halves. This isnt a day for anyone else to put themselves in the spotlight. You can choose to put them there but on your terms only.😤
! - There is nothing you HAVE to have or do apart from at some point agree to the marriage (could be a simple "I do"!).😤
If you need it, share your woes with me and then you can use the "we are doing it like that as my Planner told me to"!!

IDEA TIME
Drink Up...🍾

If you or anyone you know like a vino tipple now and then, get an extra benefit! Ask kindly if they would save any good bottles for you.

Key thoughts...

Colour - Are you keen on just clear or just green? Or any?
Clean - Thoroughly wash them!🧽
Recycle - You know where they go afterwards, right! ♻️
Labels - Choose wisely which ones you attack as some labels are worse than others and you don't want residue to ruin the look.

Ideas...
Candles - Not all tapered candles will easily slot into the top so save some time to carve them down to suit.

Greenery - If putting in water, do it last minute or the stems may go a bit icky!

Flowers - Its a small opening so either be aware of the amounts or be concious of the size of the flower. You may want to go with big headed florals?

Paint - You might prefer to paint them a colour to suit your scheme. Check the style paint first and I recommend putting something in the top to hold them by to save sticky fingers!

Heights - A variation of heights will create a lovely desgn if you can do it.

Metallics - Go beyond the rainbow and consider gold, rose gold or silver?!

Location - You might not have enough for all the tables so just so half or just for the bar or cake areas?

Wrap - Dress them up with some ribbon or lace maybe? Get creative!

This can apply to jars too of course.

If you don't feel crafty enough, find a friend who is or start following some video or pinterest pages that can help. Make a nigth of it with your besties or hire some help.

Have fun!!!!!
