Lovely Saturday morning it was my first time at this little collective of creatives and I had the best time. So many creative makers and interesting woman. Back from a few days in Rome, and of course I brought back all the seasonal goodies. When we got to the gate, my husband wasn’t allowed to board the flight because he only had 5.6 months left and after Brexit if you have a uk passport you need 6 months. We could have gone to Japan instead… anyway…. I had the fear after every wonderful meal as I missed him, and wanted him to be experiencing every delicious morsel with us. So obviously I hit the markets and brought back all the seasonal goodies used in my favourite dishes from the trip.
Windy gray Sunday back home turned exciting by the thought of puntarelle, and artichoke everything.
I will be Trying to recreate the best pasta dish I’ve ever had at with pecorino and artichokes, as well as the Jewish Roman fried artichokes from and the most delicious anchovy and cheese stuffed courgette blossoms from Da Zi Umberto. And of course warm focaccia (studded with more artichokes!)
Hopefully will feel like he was in Roma with us after all xx

Let’s talk about love… The only tradition that has no alternative in my life. 14/02 I get slight hives putting a date on romance, but for us it’s not cheesy. It’s home.

First started in 2007 when I had just started dating my now husband, and he cooHarry Hugheslate night bolognese because I was working late, because F&B… because it was the only thing he could cook…. So simple, but it has become my favourite date night of the year. There’s minimal expectations (no roses, no chocolate, no cheese…)
The best bubbles we can afford, while we cook a white bolognese, (the only day of the year where he’s allowed in the kitchen with open arms…) we listen to good music and enjoy each other. Or we don’t. Many years I’m working late, or he’s got meetings but the bolognese is slowly simmered through the day. I set a beautiful table, and we eat as a family drinking Saint Emilion, and get truly competitive and angry at dominos. We yell, we sulk and we celebrate our victory. We eat store bought profiteroles (although with our son bash we are lucky to get more than one in…) Would not want it any other way. It’s my day to be extra thankful for finding someone who puts up with my crazy highs and lows. To my forever valentine… te amo ♥️💘💘💘

Happy Friday!

Dinner party season is upon us. Cozy weather means melted cheese and red wine…. And the ultimate discovery of our chilli crunch drizzled on fondue 🫕 is a total game changer!

I made a radish and whipped butter tower inspired by that was so good, I recreated twice in the past week.

It’s soup weather! I have to say one of my death row meals will have to be some variation of a chicken soup. Nothing is cosier and more delicious than a steaming bowl of comfort.

On a Monday, I tend to make a big batch of stock with a whole chicken that I shred and keep for the week ahead, for quick soup making.

Here I added some miso and lots of julienned ginger to the chicken broth, then added leeks, carrots, cabbage, queen white beans, shredded chicken and a handful of rice and let that simmer. Ladled into a bowl and finished it off with chopped coriander, lime juice and a very generous spoonful of chilli crunch. Perfection in a bowl!

Quickest easiest and most delicious working lunch.

Start by mixing a little minced garlic and lemon zest into some Greek yogurt and spread in a shallow bowl. Heat up some of the oil from the top of your chilli crunch and fry a couple of eggs until crispy around the edges. Place on the yoghurt, top with chopped spring onions, and a good spoonful of chilli crunch. Ready in about 6 minutes and simply delicious. Bonus points for using some sourdough to mop up the goodness.
