Good morning and Hello February.

So the longest month of the year is finally over. But it has been a really exciting month.

I have had new bookings and enquiries and have been talking to my couples and discussing plans for their 2025 weddings.

I am looking forward to February and everything that it brings including signs of spring. I know my picture of the tete a tete is a little early but I thought I would bring some spring cheer to this morning.

I am out meeting clients this morning. Have a lovely Saturday.

A little though back to last summer and a beautiful wedding in Windsor.

The cake became a focal point for family treasures. With beautiful photographs of past family weddings and the Family Love Cup (the small bell shaped statue) and the family sword flown over from America to cut the Cake.

Weddings are about the memories created and family traditions.

Hello

As I have had lots of lovely new followers, I thought I should say a quick hello and introduce myself.

So as you already know my name is Sarah, I am married to a chef and we have one son.

Why events? My first job was in a hotel as a banqueting waitress and I loved it and know that I wanted to work in hospitality. Over the years I worked across all areas including the kitchen (that was not for me) I moved into Weddings, Events and General Management.

My husband and I decided to combine our skills, his in the kitchen and mine front of house and event planning and running and set up our event catering company which we loved and I planned all of our weddings, parties and corporate events. Unfortunately COVID made us pivot but also think about the business and our future. With the loss of venues and business we decided to honour all remaining business and pursue other opportunities.

I wanted to remain working in events and so it was natural for me to move towards the planning of events. With a focus on weddings and parties.

I love what I do, everyday is different and I get to work with amazing clients and suppliers.

I am really excited for 2025 and the amazing clients I am working with this year.

Following conversations I had last week and over the weekend I thought it would be a good time to post about Dry Hire.

I have lots of experience in working with Dry Hire Venues both as a planner but also as an event caterer. For those who didn’t know I used to run an event catering company. So I understand from both a planning and caterers perspective what is required and what questions to ask at a Dry Hire Venue.

Dry hire is the hire of a venue of a blank canvas venue without the usual facilities you would expect from a venue, such as catering, furniture and staff. In some instances it would also mean the addition of power, many historic properties particularly do not have power points within the property.

Dry hire venues give you a blank canvas wedding and no two weddings at a venue will be the same. Your wedding will be unique and will be about you. You will have the opportunity to choose, chairs, table linen, cutlery, crockery, no cookie cutter weddings here.

Key Questions to ask a Dry Hire Venue:
What are our access times?
When do guests have to depart and when do suppliers need to be off site?
What staff do you provide?
What is included within our venue hire?
What about suppliers? I have below added some key points about suppliers.

Venues will have a list or recommended suppliers. Do ask which suppliers you have to choose from there list and those that you can choose your own. If the venue are flexible, I do always recommend selecting caterers, production and usually florists, they will have been selected for the experience and also as a trusted supplier to the venue and will understand the venue, any restrictions and also what is required, for example the caterers do they need to arrange waste removal.

I work with lots of couples who choose dry hire venues, and I love working at Dry Hire Venues they tend have historic significance and also usually only host a small number of weddings and events per year, which makes your wedding even more special.

Do you have any questions about a choosing a Dry Hire Venue do pop them in the comments below?

Congratulations 🥂 If you received a Christmas Proposal

My final favourite trend of 2024

UK Weekend Weddings

Destination weddings to overseas locations have been popular for many years. Couples are now choosing to host Destination weddings in the UK.

With beautiful locations across the country, we have beautiful coastlines, countryside and cities and a choice of venues from castles and historic houses to large stately homes with space for everyone or taking over a boutique hotel for the weekend.

Imagine everyone arriving the day before the wedding to meet up and catch up with good food and drinks, before heading to bed for a relaxing sleep. The following morning enjoy a relaxing breakfast before getting ready for the big day. No rushing around packing and unpacking cars before getting ready. Enjoy the day and be fully present with your guests. With the main celebrations over you can spend your last day together enjoying a leisurely brunch or head to the local pub for a Sunday roast and spend the evening reminiscing about the previous day before retiring to your room for the final night before you head home the following day.

I am really looking forward to 2025 and seeing what trends we will see continuing or emerging.

What are your plans for your 2025 wedding?

My Favourite Trends of 2024

As I am heading to the end of the 2024 wedding season, I have been reflecting on some of the trends I have seen this year.

One of my favourites has to be the dress change. Most of my brides this year have changed between the day and evening reception. Greeting evening guests in their wedding dress before changing into an evening outfit.

These party outfits have ranged from a playsuit with a wrap around tulle skirt. Dresses with removable skirts and beautiful tailored trousers. All perfect to dance the night away.

Are you planning to have a change of outfit for your evening reception?

Have a lovely evening x

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
One of the most important aspects of your wedding day is the food. The flowers dress and all the other parts of your day are very important but the one thing everyone remembers is the food.

The first piece of advice I give any couple is you will not be able to please everyone with your food choices. You need to remember it is your day and to choose what you would like to eat. This is your first meal together as a married couple, it needs to be special and memorable.

You and your guests will be hungry after the ceremony. I always recommend canapés during your drinks reception.

Your wedding breakfast is traditionally a sit down 3 course meal. Your wedding breakfast can be whatever you would like, sharing food, formal dining, bbq, it’s your day.

For the evening, this very much depends on the time of your ceremony and the wedding breakfast. You will generally need something to eat later in the evening to keep the party going. You can have real fun with evening food and I think it deserves a post of its own.

HOW EARLY SHOULD WE BOOK A PLANNER// I often get asked when should we book a planner.

The answer I give is it depends on the level of support and help you require with your wedding planning.

I work with couples from the initial planning stages from venue finding and sourcing the team of suppliers, to couples who have planned their wedding and require assistance for the final month and on the day management.

There is no right time to book a planner it depends on you as a couple and when you need the support and assistance.

As a guide most of my full plan weddings book me between 6 and 9 months before the wedding, although some couples plan from 12 to 18 months in advance. This can because of a venue, specific date or guests travelling international. Wedding day management can be booked as close as 8/6 weeks before the wedding although more often between 3 to 6 months before. The closest I have had a full plan book is 8 weeks.

WEDDING DAY MANAGEMENT
Also known as On The Day Co-Ordination.

You have planned your perfect day, bought together your dream team of suppliers. Now you want to relax and enjoy the lead up to your wedding without the stress of final details and how you will bring all your hard work and vision for your day to life.

My Wedding Day Management packages are the perfect solution. We arrange a final planning meeting up to 8 weeks before your wedding ideally at your venue. We talk through all of your plans, suppliers and your vision for the day and put together a final to do list.

Following the meeting I put together a detailed schedule for the final few weeks and the Wedding Day. I send an email to all of your suppliers introducing myself and confirming going forward I will be the main point of contact. I will also produce a detailed schedule and plan for the day.

On the day itself I will be the first to arrive, greet your suppliers, ensure they have everything they need to get set up. It’s then all systems go to get your reception and welcome set and ready, ensure the ceremony is all set up and ready. All of this will be happening behind the scenes whilst you are enjoying time with family and friends before the ceremony and the fun of the reception.

Remember you are both the VIP’S of your wedding day.

To find out more about Wedding Day Management (co-ordination) drop a DM and let’s book a call.

A Book Lovers Wedding

As it’s World Book Day and I have been lucky enough to have worked at amazing venues, but in keeping with the theme of the day I thought it would be lovely to share two beautiful wedding venues perfect for book lovers.

Image 1: The Library at Wrest Park
With a capacity of up to 100 for your wedding ceremony or reception. With beautiful views of the grounds with its floor to ceiling windows.

Image 2: The Bodleian Library. A building steeped in history, the room pictured is of the Divinity School and is the oldest and largest room in the Old Bodleian Library.

Would you love a wedding in a library? Let me know in the comments.
