Spring meadows for Chloe & Leonardā€™s ceremony at Cissbury Barns last month. Made with ā€˜almostā€™ 100% English flowers and foliage.

Following the ceremony we repurposed everything, creating meadows around the cake table and guest tables for the reception šŸŒæ

So, these are my new wooden troughs šŸŽ‰ Iā€™ve recently had 23 of them made as an alternative to bud vases for wooden trestle tables. Theyā€™re 40cm long which means they can double up as aisle decoration or window dressing for your ceremony before hand too.

In the photograph we put two together to make one long 80cm display in the centre of two tables which looked great, alternatively you can have one in the centre of each six person table with taper candles either side.

Lots of options and they work well with or without a table runner.

Finally closed the doors on my old workshop this week, I had far more stuff than I thought and it took a lot longer than expected šŸ«

I know this probably doesnā€™t sound like the height of luxury but my new workshop has a concrete car park which after getting my van stuck in the field (twice) where my old workshop was and having to get towed out Iā€™m going to appreciate that car park every single time šŸ˜‚

Hereā€™s three fab photos by from Carina and Simons wedding last month.

Iā€™m back on Tuesday for a shoot, weā€™re focusing on table design which Iā€™m really excited about as I love all the details ~ glassware, stationary, linen, candles. Itā€™s honestly not just about the flowers when it comes to table design, you need all the things āœØ

Morning!

Last few days of January this week, thank god, Iā€™m ready for some Spring weather and lighter days now.

This week Iā€™m moving workshop to one closer to home, Iā€™ve been putting the packing off for weeks as itā€™s been so cold (any excuse) so todays the day to get myself organised!

Iā€™m planning on having a little sale, vases, candlesticks etc that I no longer use, Iā€™ll put everything on my stories later this week so keep an eye out or pop me a message if you are interested āœØ

I received some lovely news early this month, Millbridge Court very kindly asked if I would like to be one of their recommended partners. Erm, yes please šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜ƒšŸ˜ƒšŸŽ‰

I absolutely love working at Millbridge itā€™s a fantastic venue with lots of interesting spaces to decorate. The outdoor and indoor ceremony options are equally lovely and the beautiful high ceilings and white walls are the perfect blank canvas to get creative and make the space your own.

Iā€™m very much looking forward to being back there this year šŸ¤©

What sort of bouquet will you have? Ribbon or no ribbon? This is a conversation Iā€™ve been having with Brides lately and it can be quite difficult to decide. First consideration is it should complement your dress and location. If your wedding is surrounded by the countryside or beautiful gardens you may want to opt for a lots of locally grown flowers, grasses, berries, texture. A city centre wedding often calls for something more contemporary. Likewise, if your dress is detailed keep your bouquet relatively simple. Personally, and this would be second time around šŸ˜„, I would go for Sweet Pea bouquets all round - imagine the scent! šŸ’›

I received the most lovely thank you card in the post this week. I genuinely get quite personally invested in all the weddings I do and want every little detail to be perfect so notes like this really do mean a lot to me, thank you šŸ’–

ā€˜Dear Jess,

Thank you so much for being our wedding florist and providing the most stunning flowers.
You were so warm and friendly from our first zoom call and I loved planning and finalising it all. The flowers were truly the highlight at Millbridge, they elevated every space from the Christmas tree to the floral arch. They look so good in our photos and I love looking back. I really appreciate all the hard work and attention to detail from you and your team.
Thank you for making our wedding so special.

Floristry, oooh thatā€™s a nice job. It is and I love it but thereā€™s a lot more to it than playing with a few stems in a pretty vase.

Mainly, if you do weddings or events, heavy lifting šŸ˜„šŸ’Ŗ

Hereā€™s what we got up to on the morning of Rebecca and Michaels weddingā€¦

6am - arrive at the workshop, finish loading the van and truck (itā€™s a two vehicle wedding)
7.45am - Millbridge Court arrival, start to unload.
8am - 4 x Florists arrive to help with the mornings set up.
8.30am - Everything is unloaded and we can begin setting up. All larger items are made on site, that morning we made an arch, two pedestals, a floor display around the welcome sign and installed and decorated a Christmas tree. In addition to this there were pillar candles to decorate the aisle.
10.30am - the furniture has now been delivered and we can also start to set up for the reception dinner. At the same time there are bubblegum balloons hanging an installation from the ceiling, a lighting company and caterers all working in the same space.
11.45am - deliver the bouquets to the Bride and her bridesmaids, spend some time chatting with the Bride and demonstrate how to hold the bouquet.
12pm - Buttonholes, find the recipients and help with pinning if required!
Also at 12pm - everything must be completed an hour before the ceremony, final tidy up and last bits into the van.
12.30pm - finish for lunch (usual eaten in the van but we did find a nice pub round the corner that day, bonus)
2pm - back on site for the turnaround (anything that can be moved and repurposed for the reception) today we moved all the pillar candles and the pedestal arrangements.
3pm - finish on site and head back to the workshop to unload the van and tidy up.
9am Sunday - back on site to clear, the worst part!
