The versatility of a Paella pan😊!!!!!!

Did you know that Paella has a humble origin?
Paella was born from the needs of peasants and farmers to have a nutritious -but economic- meal. So, they used to put the rice into the pans over wood fire, adding any kind of vegetables which were planted around the rice fields and countryside: onions, tomatoes and snails, some beans to get flavour and texture; rabbit or duck and just in special occasions, they added chicken with a pinch of saffron to get colour and flavour. Paella was also traditionally eaten straight from the pan.
Some authors say that Paella comes from the leftovers at Royal feasts, which people mixed and consumed.
The word "paella" refers to the pan where is cooked the rice, not to the dish -confusing right?- and probably has its roots in the Latin 'patella' (meaning pan).
The original Valencian Paella does not have seafood, it´s made only with meat.
