The flowers that we grow & sell here on our farm are seasonal. This means we can only supply flowers between April and October. Outside of April and October you will find us making our festive wreaths, preparing our beds, learning new skills or delivering training and courses. Well we held our first Christmas Star workshop today and what a success it was!

We thought we would like to offer something different from the usual Christmas wreaths that we normally do.

I think you will agree they look absolutely stunning! You can tell by the grins how happy everyone was with the talent that shone through in pool their work.

Thank you ladies for coming today and being 'guinea pigs' .

I feel sure this workshop will run and run 😊
PS we already have bookings for December 2025! How wonderful!

The first Christmas wreath workshop of the year and I had forgotten how lovely they are. A smashing group of ladies who had great fun leaning how to make their wreaths. None of them had ever done anything like it before and were so happy with the results.

At last we have made a start planting the tulips. I've decided to put some in crates and some in the ground this year.

Sort of hedging my bets after the disaster with the rodents last year.

I've also made a decision not to plant so many but to plant many, many more of different varieties of narcissi.

The reason being, that along with the sweet rocket, anemones and perhaps some early ranunculus, they will all together make some smashing mixed spring bouquets next year for you all to enjoy!

It's only 6 weeks until Christmas!

So time to start thinking about all those Christmas presents you need to get.

Thinking of all the mum's, nans , daughter's and friends you need to buy for.

Well what a super morning we all had!

It was a grey miserable day and what a better way to spend it than to learn about how to dry flowers and make a beautiful wreath of your own to take home and hang on your wall.

A little tour around a part of the greenhouse.
I haven't sown masses, I don't need that many, just enough to give early blooms next year. Then I will successional sow to give flowers throughout the next year

I found these poor soggy bees trying to find refuge from storm Ashley on my salvias.

Not much of a cover I didn't think!
Hope you survived the storm, it was certainly a stay inside sort of day.

Finally managed to plant the ranunculus, they have put on lovely roots and lots of leaves so it was time for them to be planted out. I do love an experiment! So let see what happens to these beautiful Spindle berries when they are placed in a glycerin mix. I've since learned that you can use a different ratio of glycerin to hot water. 1/3rd : 2/3rds.
