I have been waiting for this day for so long, I absolutely love putting plants in the ground and then watching them grow with the anticipation and excitement of the flowers to come.

I always seem to plant out more than I need but then I find the flowers are never wasted and go to new homes to be enjoyed in so many houses. Not to mention the weddings and farewell flowers of course.

My last heated bench lasted 25 years but finally gave up the ghost so here we are making a new one.

Here the cable is being laid that will heat the bench which will be filled with grit and sand to the top.

I find a little bit of bottom heat makes all the difference at this time of year with germination and gives my little seeds a head start.

These farewell flowers are completely compostable.

There is a choice these days so why would you choose a flotal tribute for your loved ones, the last thing you can do for them, that is made of plastic and wire and Oasis that will stay on this planet and contaminated it?

Doesn't make sense does it?

Choose eco-friendly alternatives to say goodbye, and leave nothing behind, but the memories…

I can't tell you what a game changer this cold frame will be!

In the past I've spent ages taking many trays in and out of the green house to harden off my little plants....now I won't have to!

They will have just one journey....to the cold frame!

Have you ever wondered what happens to funerals flowers after the service?

With a cremation the flowers will go in a skip 24 hours or so later. With a burial they can remain on the grave for the life of the flowers and then they and the plastics they have been arranged in, have to be disposed of.

This ultimately means that many, many thousands of all non-biodegradable parts used to create these floral masterpieces, like florist foam, plastics forms, ribbon and cellophane go directly to landfill and will remain on our planet, polluting our environment and water courses with micro-plastics for an undetermined number of years to come.

Funny old time of year, there is all the excitement of choosing seeds and planning the years flowers that will be needed for this wedding and that wedding and everything else in between.

On the other hand, there is still cutting down to be done of last year flowers. Trying to get on top of it before we start all over again. As you can see there's quite some way to go yet....

Anyone else at this stage? Or perhaps you are much more organised than I am!
