Bringing Communities Together

Hook Village Hall is the only hall in the communities of Hook, Greatfield and Greenhill. It hosts many permanent organisations and regular hirers, such as toddler, yoga and dance groups; WI meetings; and Parish Council meetings. Hook Village Hall is managed by Hook, Greatfield and Greenhill Village Hall Charitable Association (Registered Charity No. 305529) which is

a not-for-profit organisation under the leadership of a board of volunteer trustees. The hall is run day-to-day by a small team of friendly, dedicated volunteers. Hook Village Hall’s facilities include a large heated hall (with a small stage), a fully fitted kitchen, a projector screen, toilet facilities, disabled access and a large carpark. Whether it’s sport, craft, hobbies or social, why not take a look at the range of activities on offer at Hook Village Hall or consider it as a space to host your own events?

πŸ“’ Important Update: Hall Hire Rates Changing from 1st September 2025

To all our amazing hall users – from 1st September 2025, we’ll be introducing a small increase in our hourly hire rates:

πŸ”Ή Local Rate: Β£13.00/hour
πŸ”Ή Non-Local Rate: Β£18.00/hour

We haven’t changed our prices since 2022, but with rising running costs, this modest adjustment helps us:

βœ… Continue ongoing maintenance
βœ… Improve facilities for everyone
βœ… Keep the hall safe, accessible & welcoming

We’re still committed to offering great value for money – and staying competitive with other local venues.

Thanks for your continued support! πŸ’™

FYI for anyone travelling to us between 28th April- 9th May. Please use the alternative route.

HOOK STREET closed to traffic 28th April - 9th May
This is for the replacement of a cattle grid - something that Lydiard Tregoze Parish Council and local residents have been trying to get done for many months.
Anyone trying to avoid the traffic delays on the A3102 should be aware that Hook Street is not going to be an option during this period.
Given the nature of the works, this will be a full closure.

FYI if you are travelling to the hall from Royal Wootton Bassett.

Ensure you add time to your journey to allow for the detour.

Please do not use Flaxland or Hook St as a rat run, these roads are not suitable for heavy two way traffic.

Road closure - Wales and West have secured a temporary road closure for 4 weeks starting on Monday 18th Nov. This will close the Hook Road at Coped Hall. The official diversion route is about 7.5 miles but we all know that people will try to use narrow, unsuitable lanes such as Flaxlands Lane and Hook Street.
I have asked Wiltshire Council Highways to look again at this because there is a likelihood of chaos. Access to the care home, hotel and other businesses will also be affected.
It will also make access to the Flaxlands Solar Park consultation event at Hook Village Hall very difficult.

And just like that the old garage has gone......

A huge shout out to the North Swindon Woodturners who volunteered to help dismantle it, Rapid Hire for the loan of machinery, and Crapper & Sons Landfill Ltd for the help with waste disposal.

I wonder what we do with the space πŸ€”...... Join us on 1st December for our πŸŽ„ A Community Christmas! πŸŽ„ to have your say!
