Junk Galleries presents STATIC. Their first ever in real life art exhibition at Moseley Hive, Birmingham on 05/02/2022.
STATIC is a showcase of Birmingham based artists who’s work fuses contemporary mediums with a social and political commentary. This exhibition will show some brand new work, commissions and collaborations.
A fundamental part of the Mobilise project is supporting the mental health and wellbeing of marginalised artists. Today we're really pleased to introduce counsellor Isabel dos Santos, who is leading on this work with Mobilise.
Isabel completed a BA Honours Degree in Counselling (1st) with the Middlesex University, London, in 2014. Before setting up in private practice in Worcester in 2018, Isabel counselled for charities and the NHS.
Isabel encourages self-care practices to help improve clients’ mental health. She says that extending this approach to artists has been a fantastic experience, that has enriched her work with their openness, wisdom, and creativity.
Introducing the amazing artists working on the Mobilise visual arts project!
Continuing our introductions to the Mobilise team, today we're giving a big shout out to ✨Yasmin Agilah Hood✨ & ✨Kay Mullet✨, who are facilitating the Mobilise visual arts outreach project.
Yasmin is a visual artist with a passion for storytelling through drawing, collage and paint.
Yasmin began working with Worcester Arts Workshop in 2020, and is enjoying stepping out of a studio space, to connect and encourage creative curiosity, while learning about others, either verbally or through making things.
Kay studied Art in Social Context as a degree. On moving to Worcester, Kay volunteered and was subsequently employed at Worcester Arts Workshop as a freelance artist, working as a tutor and delivering community outreach work.
Kay is passionate about engaging with groups that find it harder to access quality art activities, and loves using visual arts as a communication tool to build relationships and fun positive experiences.
Look out for more details about the visual arts project next week!

This week we're introducing some of the people who are powering Mobilise. First up: ✨Hannah Phillips✨, who is leading the project.
Dr Hannah Phillips is a theatre maker and educator, making new interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work that is socially engaged.
She was former Director of Transformation at Worcester Arts Workshop and feels proud to be leading the organisation on the next part of its journey.
Hannah is passionate about diversity, inclusion and access, much of her own practice explores gender and sexuality and she is currently very interested in the relationship between arts and mental health.

Announcing Mobilise - the final project from Worcester Arts Workshop, which will continue to embed the company’s most recent work around diversity and inclusion in the arts, and arts and mental health through new socially engaged work, into Worcester's cultural sector.
Mobilise is championing and supporting new work focusing on the arts as a tool for social change, to support mental health and wellbeing - and as agency for marginalised artists, participants and audiences.
Mobilise will be led by former Director of Transformation of Worcester Arts Workshop, Hannah Phillips, and will run until March 2022 with the long-term ambition that it will become a company in its own right – not building based – working in partnership with other organisations, responsive to community need and advocating the arts as a tool for positive social change and well-being.
Mobilise will build on Worcester Arts Workshop’s 40 years of skill, experience and impact.
Follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for more announcements about this exciting new initiative over the coming weeks.
Mobilise is funded by Arts Council England, Severn Arts, Worcestershire County Council and in partnership with Worcester Theatres.

Share your ideas and find collaborators. Take part in groups, classes and nights – or drop in for a drink and a doodle. Grab a mic and say what you’ve got to say, shout it, sing it, write it or paint it on the walls. Find your tribe, share your journey, learn from people who’ve been there before, and those who are still finding their way.
Whoever you are, however you create – this is a place for you.
Please note, Worcester Arts Workshop is temporarily closed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with new Government guidelines about the closure of non-essential public spaces and social distancing, we regret to inform you that Worcester Arts Workshop will remain closed to the public until at least September 2020.
Anyone with a ticket for an event/workshop between now and September will be contacted and offered a refund or a rescheduled date for the event/workshop. We will keep you up to date with any further changes.
We understand that it’s a very uncertain time for everyone, but it’s what’s most important is that we safeguard our visitors, staff and volunteers.
We are keeping in touch with all staff and volunteers and trying our best to support each other in these difficult circumstances and we would love to hear from you too! Please keep checking our website, YouTube and social media channels for further information and do keep us up to date on how you’re all doing.
We hope to be able to bring some light to you during these strange times and help you feel connected. Let’s find space to create together, even if it is at a distance!
Thanks everyone, wishing you all the best.
The team at Worcester Arts Workshop.
