🎁 Rounce Funeral Services - Once Again Proud to Support the More Radio Toy Appeal 2024! 🎄

We’re excited to announce that Rounce Funeral Services is once again a collection point for the More Radio Toy Appeal, and we need your help to make this Christmas special for children across Sussex. 🎅🌟

Last year, thanks to your generosity, we collected over 100 gifts alone, helping ensure that over 8,000 children received a Christmas gift they might not have otherwise had. Let’s make this year even bigger and better!

But with one in three children in Sussex living in poverty and the ongoing cost of living crisis, we need your support now more than ever. Many families are struggling, and for some children, the only gift they’ll receive this year will come from our appeal.

💖 How can you help?

We’re collecting brand-new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages – from new-borns to teenagers.
Whether it’s toys, books, games, or something else, every gift matters.
The toys will go directly to children in need across East and West Sussex, with support from local charities, food banks, refuges, and children’s hospices.

📅 Donation Drop-Off Details: Bring your donations to Rounce Funeral Services at:
3 Half Moon Parade, Half Moon Lane, Worthing, BN13 2EL

🕔 The Appeal runs to Sunday, December 8th.

Thank you for helping us make this Christmas one to remember for all children in our community. Together, we can spread joy and make a real difference. ❤️🎁

On this day, we remember the life and legacy of John Le Mesurier, beloved for his role as Sergeant Arthur Wilson in the iconic British sitcom Dad's Army.
Music: Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hi**er? - Bud Flanagan

John's distinctive voice, laid-back charm, and unassuming nature made him one of the most endearing figures in British television. From his military service during WWII to his role as the mild-mannered, aristocratic Wilson, Le Mesurier’s contributions to the entertainment world continue to inspire.

Did you know?

John Le Mesurier was originally offered the role of Captain Mainwaring but chose Wilson because it suited him better.

Despite the tension between their characters, he shared a deep friendship with Arthur Lowe, who played Captain Mainwaring.

His famous catchphrase "Do you think that’s wise, sir?" still echoes in the hearts of Dad’s Army fans.

John’s understated approach to fame and acting made him beloved not only for his roles but for his kindness and natural wit.

From a World War II veteran to a comedic icon, John Le Mesurier's impact on British television and culture remains immeasurable.

"Do you think that’s wise, sir?" – We will always remember you, John.

“When I did 'The Great Escape', I kept thinking, if they were making a movie of my life, that's what they'd call it - the great escape.”

On this day, we remember Steve McQueen, whose unforgettable presence brought us timeless films like The Great Escape, where he embodied the unbreakable spirit of freedom and resilience. Known as the 'King of Cool,' he showed us not only the thrill of defiance but the strength to stand firm in the face of adversity. Steve’s legacy goes beyond his roles; he remains a symbol of courage and cool for generations. Though he made his final great escape from this world, his spirit races on, forever free.
RIP― Steve McQueen

“I will not have you talking to your mother like that.
She is baking a cake.
Nothing that goes on around that oven has anything to do with procreation. This a kitchen, not a maternity ward.
Cakes are delivered here. Cakes! And other disasters.“

Butterflies - Ben Parkinson (Geoffrey Palmer): [to Adam, after he compares baking a cake to giving birth]

Today, we remember Geoffrey Palmer, a beloved actor whose unmistakable voice and impeccable comedic timing brought joy to audiences everywhere. Known for his charm and wit, Geoffrey left an enduring mark on British television and the hearts of those who knew him. As we mark this anniversary, may we celebrate his legacy and the laughter he gifted to us all.
RIP Geoffrey Palmer

(Jerry) "Look, I've just cut my finger clipping your blasted hedge."
(Margo) "Don't swear, Jerry. And don't bleed in the sink, I've just cleaned it."
Jerry & Margo, The Good Life

Today, we remember Paul Eddington, whose warmth and wit brought light to countless lives. Known for his kindness and gentle humour, Paul left an indelible mark on those who knew him, both on screen and off. As we mark this anniversary, may we celebrate the joy he brought to others and find comfort in the legacy of laughter and love he leaves behind.

Yesterday our Funeral Director Rebecca Doherty conducted a service for a Motorhead fan with our celebrant Jon Riley. The gentleman was carried into Chapel with the beautiful song 1916 and the exit music was The Ace of Spades, which was played loud and proud as we left the Chapel. Our wonderful florist Greenfingers florist created a beautiful bespoke Ace of Spades floral tribute.

“The legacy of the movies is, I suspect, that my children's generation will show them to their children.
So you could be watching it in 50 years' time, easy.
I'll not be here, sadly, but... But Hagrid will, yes. “

Robbie Coltrane was a giant in more ways than one—both in his towering presence and his immense talent. From his unforgettable portrayal of Hagrid in Harry Potter to his gripping performance in Cracker, he captivated audiences with a unique blend of warmth, humour, and depth.

On this day, 40 years ago, on 12 October 1984, the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) carried out an assassination attempt on members of the British government at the Grand Hotel in Brighton. The attack claimed the lives of five innocent people and left over thirty others injured. Today, we remember those who tragically lost their lives, and we honour the survivors and all who were affected by this devastating event. May their memory remind us of the importance of peace and resilience.

Jessica Fletcher: Murder She Wrote

World Mental Health Day.
We are so lucky in Sussex, to have the beautiful Downs and the seaside right on our doorstep. Be grateful for small blessings.
We are at the end of the phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week if you need help or support.

World Mental Health Day 10th October 🌱

''I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order."

John Burroughs 🌿

Nature is an important need for many and vital in keeping us emotionally, psychologically and physically healthy.

Regarding mental health benefits, nature has a very wide definition. It can mean green spaces like parks, woodland or forests and blue spaces like rivers, wetlands, beaches or canals. It also includes trees on an urban street, private gardens, verges and even indoor plants or window boxes. Surprisingly, even watching nature documentaries is good for our mental health. This is great news as it means the mental health benefits of nature can be made available to nearly every one of us, no matter where we live.

Spending time in green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing. For example, doing things like growing food or flowers, exercising outdoors or being around animals can have lots of positive effects. It can:

improve your mood
reduce feelings of stress or anger
help you take time out and feel more relaxed
improve your physical health
improve your confidence and self-esteem
help you be more active
help you meet and get to know new people
connect you to your local community
reduce loneliness
help you feel more connected to nature
provide peer support.

We are here to support and guide you through your journey and give you a shoulder to cry on.

I had my own notion of grief.
I thought it was the sad time, that followed the death of someone you love.
And you had to push through it to get to the other side.
But I’m learning, there is no other side...
There is no pushing through, but rather, there is absorption.
Adjustment.
Acceptance.
And grief is not something you complete, but rather, you endure.
Grief is not a task to finish, and move on, but an element of yourself – an alteration of your being.

A new way of seeing.

A new dimension of self...
