Remembering Carlos Marín: Three Years On

“Carlos was a very happy and positive person, he always had a smile on his face. He loved the life he was living, He loved singing for his audience and he really appreciated and valued his fans. We should keep him alive in our hearts, celebrate his life by listening to his songs, and not cry and be all sad.“
Interview with Rosie Marin - Carlos’ sister

Today, we pause to honour the memory of Carlos Marín, whose extraordinary voice and vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on the world. Three years have passed since his untimely departure, yet his presence remains vivid in the hearts of those who cherished him.

As a member of Il Divo, Carlos brought passion, elegance, and a uniquely powerful voice that touched millions. His artistry transcended borders, languages, and genres, uniting audiences in awe and admiration. Beyond the stage, he was a kind, charismatic, and generous soul, always lighting up the room with his charm and warmth.

Though his life was cut far too short, his legacy endures through the music he gifted us and the countless lives he inspired. Today, we remember Carlos not only as a brilliant performer but as a friend, a brother, and a true gentleman.

May his music continue to resonate in our hearts and his memory remain a beacon of love and artistry. Rest in peace, Carlos Marín—you are dearly missed but not forgotten.

Who remembers Cheggers Plays Pop and Swap Shop?

"I've always loved the spontaneity of outside broadcasts - it's great seeing people's faces when they realise that they're on national TV. But why is it that while we're on air, tearing round someone's house, the phone rings and a family friend shouts "Did you know you're on the telly!?"
I reckon they've guessed by then... "
Keith Chegwin

Today, we pause to remember the wonderful Keith Chegwin, who left us far too soon. Known for his infectious laugh, boundless energy, and genuine warmth, Keith was a cherished part of our television, bringing joy to so many through shows like Cheggers Plays Pop and Swap Shop.

Keith’s unique charm and ability to make everyone feel at ease made him not just a TV star but a friend to all who watched him. His humour and kind spirit remain deeply missed.

As we look back on his life and career, let’s celebrate the laughter and smiles he gave us all. Keith, you’ll always have a special place in our hearts.

Hello, everyone! 🎨✨
Funeral art and history come together in this powerful memento mori (Latin for "remember you must die") painting by American illustrator Charles Allan Gilbert (1873–1929). Titled "All is Vanity," this artwork is a fascinating example of a double image picture.
When you look at it, did you first notice the skull, or the lady admiring herself in the mirror? 🧠💀💄
We’d love to hear your thoughts—let us know which image you saw first!
Best wishes,
The team at Rounce Funeral Services

On this day, we remember the life and legacy of John Le Mesurier, beloved for his role as Sergeant Arthur Wilson in the iconic British sitcom Dad's Army.
Music: Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hi**er? - Bud Flanagan

John's distinctive voice, laid-back charm, and unassuming nature made him one of the most endearing figures in British television. From his military service during WWII to his role as the mild-mannered, aristocratic Wilson, Le Mesurier’s contributions to the entertainment world continue to inspire.

Did you know?

John Le Mesurier was originally offered the role of Captain Mainwaring but chose Wilson because it suited him better.

Despite the tension between their characters, he shared a deep friendship with Arthur Lowe, who played Captain Mainwaring.

His famous catchphrase "Do you think that’s wise, sir?" still echoes in the hearts of Dad’s Army fans.

John’s understated approach to fame and acting made him beloved not only for his roles but for his kindness and natural wit.

From a World War II veteran to a comedic icon, John Le Mesurier's impact on British television and culture remains immeasurable.

"Do you think that’s wise, sir?" – We will always remember you, John.

“When I did 'The Great Escape', I kept thinking, if they were making a movie of my life, that's what they'd call it - the great escape.”

On this day, we remember Steve McQueen, whose unforgettable presence brought us timeless films like The Great Escape, where he embodied the unbreakable spirit of freedom and resilience. Known as the 'King of Cool,' he showed us not only the thrill of defiance but the strength to stand firm in the face of adversity. Steve’s legacy goes beyond his roles; he remains a symbol of courage and cool for generations. Though he made his final great escape from this world, his spirit races on, forever free.

“I will not have you talking to your mother like that.
She is baking a cake.
Nothing that goes on around that oven has anything to do with procreation. This a kitchen, not a maternity ward.
Cakes are delivered here. Cakes! And other disasters.“

Butterflies - Ben Parkinson (Geoffrey Palmer): [to Adam, after he compares baking a cake to giving birth]

Today, we remember Geoffrey Palmer, a beloved actor whose unmistakable voice and impeccable comedic timing brought joy to audiences everywhere. Known for his charm and wit, Geoffrey left an enduring mark on British television and the hearts of those who knew him. As we mark this anniversary, may we celebrate his legacy and the laughter he gifted to us all.

(Jerry) "Look, I've just cut my finger clipping your blasted hedge."
