Spectator access will be restricted tomorrow to allow us to comfortably accommodate over 500 competitors at both sessions. We will be closely managing numbers in the building.

Clubs should sit in their allocated spaces on the balconies. Spectators will be on the top balcony only.

Clubs that are moving across to the opposite balcony have been advised today.

Bring on the last day.

Unfortunately, due to fire safety regulations we need to restrict the number of spectators at Somerset County Champs on Sunday 9th February. We will be operating a one out, one in policy once our spectator numbers hit 150.

We have a full and exciting program of events with lots of swimmers competing and of course supported by their coaches, team managers, officials and volunteers.

If you haven’t thought about it before, maybe, Sunday is the day you take that step into Volunteering. We still have spaces available to select.

From Paul Chillingworth, Somerset County Welfare Officer.

Dear swimmers
I just want to remind you about the Somerset ASA and Swim England Safeguarding policy
(Wavepower) on mobile phones. You must not take phones or other mobile devices into the
changing rooms and they should not be used on poolside either.

Please take a look at:

https://www.swimming.org/swimengland/keep-phones-locker-film/

Whilst it is easy to plead that you were ‘just listening to music’ or ‘texting a friend’, it is a zero tolerance policy and there is no defence. Any incidents will be reported to Swim England and there are extremely serious consequences for swimmers who take, make, or upload images taken in changing rooms. That is why it is essential that you don’t put yourself under suspicion by having a phone in the first place.
These rules apply to everyone, regardless of whether they train at the venue, as this is Swim
England regulated activity.
If you have any concerns please come and talk to me (I will be presenting awards some of the
time) or email : [email protected]
Please help us make sure that this last weekend of Counties, which is going to be really busy, is a safe environment for everyone. I hope that you have some great swims.

An empowering new film has been commissioned by Swim England in a bid to prevent its teenage members falling foul of a key safeguarding policy change.
