Well that’s the 34th show over and what a roller coaster. We’ve had gales , torrential rain , clouds and sunshine and some incredible flying . The Saturday literally blew away the schedule and we had some superb demonstrations of why the top display pilots are the top pilots in conditions most would have given up on. Sunday started with Somerset monsoon season and ended in bright sunshine . After running the show for 8 years I’ve never seen such a range.
Despite that , thanks to the pilots , the traders and our Woodspring team we had a great weekend! In some ways sharing adversity brings you together and we had plenty of that.
We look forward to our usual good weather next year and on the meantime we wish everyone a thank you and best wishes until the next one!

No this isn’t the BBMF Lancaster flying but a magnificent model flown by Steve Holland yesterday and it will be joined by Andy Johnson’s Lancaster for our show.

Hi we’re sorry to have to tell you the BBMF Lancaster will not be coming to the show. The flight are still grounded following the tragic accident of their Spitfire.
We will however have some amazing models to show you flown by some of the countries top pilots.

To soften the disappointment we will keep advance sales , with discount prices, going till Friday night for Saturday and Saturday night for Sunday. ( and don’t forget , accompanied children under 16 are free)

We are so pleased to tell you the BBMF Lancaster will once again be coming to our show. We’ll confirm the day nearer the time. This iconic aircraft is shown at its best over our wonderful countryside and you won’t get a better view of it, not to mention the sound of four Merlín engines. We will also have two amazing models of this bomber to add to your Lancaster experience at the show

We’ve got a new logo on our show poster, the Caravan and Motorhome Club. We are delighted to host again our friends from the club as they join us for their rally at the show. There are already 15 booked in so if you are thinking of camping at the show it might be a good idea to get your booking in! You may have seen a lot of coverage of the 20th anniversary of Concordes last flight on the news and that a jet powered model of the Concorde would be flying at Woodspring Wings to commemorate the event. Well this is that flight!
The really good news is the Concorde will be flying again. at the show on July 6th and 7th next year.

We are delighted to announce the Woodspring Show in 2024 is returning to original slot in the calendar, the first weekend in July, 6th and 7th, following our friends at the LMA moving their Sleap show to the last weekend. Once again, we look forward to bringing you some stunning flying, plenty of interesting traders, a great food court and the chance to camp, all in the wonderful atmosphere of our Somerset home. We are probably the only show which is run by a club on its own site in the UK, with all proceeds going back into the hobby and charity.

We look forward to sharing July 6th and 7th 2024 with you!

Well that’s another show done, our 32nd, and have to say we were so pleased with everyone’s enjoyment of a challenging two days weather wise. Someone was smiling on us Sunday as all the storm cells gave us a miss.

Our thanks to all who contributed

As always we had wonderful support from all our pilot friends , who put on such great displays despite an enthusiastic wind at times .

Our superb commentators did a wonderful job of not only passing on information but also bringing the displays to life.

Our traders, some of whom have been coming for a long time, who enjoyed a good weekend and really added to the interest for both modellers and the general public.

Our partners in the ATC, AMARC model club, Bristol Aero Collection and Alfresco catering were all an essential part of the mix and great to have on board.

We were also delighted to be hosting a Caravan Club rally for the weekend and what a nice bunch of people they turned out to be.

Sorry if we’ve missed anyone off, so thanks if we have!

There are not many model clubs in the country able to hold shows and we are proud of our club’s members pulling together to share what a wonderful hobby we have.

Well what a day! Wonderful turnout with a greats days flying, busy traders, a competition winner ( for a glider flight) and a 22 piece ukelele band on a Bristol bus! Shame we were cut short by some rain but look forward to a great day tomorrow !
