Ladies - I am running the second of 3 retreat days in the woods this coming Sunday.

The theme of the retreat is gentleness - in the busy midsummer, we can feel a little frazzled and need some respite. Especially as we are approaching the end of term and lots of you may be feeling ready for a rest!

The day involves not having to think about anything, not even time. I will be leading you through some very gentle and simple nature connection practices, as well as giving you time to lie in a hammock and explore the woods.

We will also be doing some nature crafts involving watercolour and natural objects and making our very own afternoon tea over the fire.

A homemade nourishing lunch will also be provided.

What beautiful weather! The woods is the coolest place to be and the light is amazing. We hope you are all enjoying the wonderful summer sunshine 🌞

The summer term is a very busy time for us at the WAC, with lots of wonderful school groups, birthday parties and events for women.

There has also been some pretty extensive felling in the woodland over the last month 🥲, so we are working hard to tidy up and work with the change in landscape. On the plus side, there is more light and space and also dead trees have been removed giving more light and space to healthier trees.

We will be running some summer sessions in the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays - week commencing 19th and 26th August, so look out for those, they will be advertised soon. We will keep you posted and look forward to seeing you soon!

Absolutely loved running 2 team wellbeing days with these 2 groups of wonderful people. It was such a privilege to share the peaceful and relaxing woodland and to hear how much slowing down and connecting with nature supported their wellbeing.

It was also so exciting for Adam and I to bring our work together, allowing plenty of time for fun (Adam) and relaxation (Marie) in the woods! 😆

We are so passionate about allowing people space. Space to breathe, space to reflect and space to connect with themselves, each other and the environment. Being in nature, taking part in some gently guided activities, allows us to move from the constant doing energy of the everyday life and work environment, to the energy of just being. When we are in the being energy, we are more creative, reflective and peaceful.

I am running a spring full day retreat on Sunday 21st April from 10am - 4pm at the woodland adventure company.

The theme of the retreat is nourishment. We will be taking inspiration from spring, observing the emergence of new growth, thinking about what saplings need to grow, spending time in the hammocks and generally just being, enjoying the opportunity to slow down and destress.

We will be preparing together a delicious lunch inspired by the spring produce and then in the afternoon we will be relaxing around the fire taking part in a nature craft activity.

The whole day will be relaxing, nurturing and simple. A lovely opportunity to prioritise your self-care, to recharge so that you are ready to face the world again.

LAST SHOUT for tomorrows adventure, The quest for the golden dragons egg.

"The golden dragon has laid eggs for the first time in 500 hundred years! This prophesised event should have been a joyous celebration but the signs have been read by pirates, who have returned and stolen one of the eggs, hiding it deep in the woods.
Since then the Pirates have fled in the face of the dragons wrath but the egg still can't be found. We need a team to train up like the Viking dragon tamers of old in order to seek out the egg and return it safely."

This adventure will include axe making using handmade (EVA foam) axe heads for each child to keep.

BOG BABIES - THE SEQUEL!

Following on from our classic adventure based on the magical book - The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis, the adventure continues!

This time, the children will not only make their very own Bog Babies, but will also build boats so the Bog Babies can take a trip across the wishing pond!

This adventure is for children aged 2-6 years. Adventure finishes with time around the campfire for a hot chocolate and snack.

Our resident Dragon has escaped the cave and had a little trip to Bolton Abbey! He is having a little holiday, so won't be with us this half term, but don't worry there are plenty of other exciting and magical adventures happening in the woods!

Why not grab your space on our amazing NEW adventure?

The Quest for the Treasure of the Elementals really is an adventure not to be missed. Only the second time we are running it, this is one of Adam's best creations. Feedback form the children and adults was amazing!

"Deep in the woods we venture for hidden dragons gold, through a lantern lit trail, passing a wishing pool and a secret fountain. On the hunt for clues we will see the fairy tunnel and go fishing for tokens. Each task and clue leads us closer to our goal. Until at last we end with the most secret and well hidden clue of all. Will we be able to find it?"

Each part of the adventure is marked on the journey sticks made by the children so the telling of the tale can last and be told to others once we return.

I have just returned from a wonderful Sunday morning campfire session, where the winter light in the woods was just stunning!

Whilst talking about our themes, hopes and wishes for the year ahead, we whittled magic wands, a symbolic reference to bringing our dreams into being.

The fire was blazing, the hot chocolate and cake were yummy. It feels so good to take 2 hours out of the everyday routine to relax the body, mind and soul and give yourself permission to top up your cup.

If any ladies feel like this would be a good fit for you, I have 2 spaces left on the Sunday sessions that run on the last Sunday of each month. This group is usually full with a waiting list, so act quickly if you would like to try it out.

What a wonderful week of sessions we had this January, thank you to everyone who came along. Our new adventure 'The Quest for the Treasure of the Elementals' was a hit, with a few regular children saying it was their favourite adventure yet! 👊🙌

We are now back into the swing of birthday parties. There is something quite special about winter parties, it is cold and sometimes muddy, but experiencing all types of weather is really good for children and adults. It definitely creates a sense of appreciation for the warmth of the fire, a hot cup of tea and returning home to a warm house. This weekend, we really enjoyed watching the children loving the mud, we can learn so much from children's ability to find the joy in all things!

We hope to be back with more sessions in February half term, we will keep you updated....

Despite the rain and grey skies, our first day of January sessions was magical and loads of fun!

The lanterns brought some cheer and warmth to us all as we enjoyed the exciting elements of our BRAND NEW Quest!
